REGULARITY OF SOLUTIONS OF 3D NAVIER-STOKES EQUATIONS IN A LIPSCHITZ DOMAIN FOR SMALL DATA

  • We consider the global existence of strong solutions of the 3D incompressible Navier-Stokes equations in a bounded Lipschitz do-main under Dirichlet boundary condition. We present by a very simple argument that a strong solution exists globally when the product of $L^2$ norms of the initial velocity and the gradient of the initial velocity and $L^{p,2}$, $p{\geq}4$ norm of the forcing function are small enough. Our condition is scale invariant and implies many typical known global existence results for small initial data including the sharp dependence of the bound on the volumn of the domain and viscosity. We also present a similar result in the whole domain with slightly stronger condition for the forcing.

VOLUME OF C1,α-BOUNDARY DOMAIN IN EXTENDED HYPERBOLIC SPACE

  • We consider the projectivization of Minkowski space with the analytic continuation of the hyperbolic metric and call this an extended hyperbolic space. We can measure the volume of a domain lying across the boundary of the hyperbolic space using an analytic continuation argument. In this paper we show this method can be further generalized to find the volume of a domain with smooth boundary with suitable regularity in dimension 2 and 3. We also discuss that this volume is invariant under the group of hyperbolic isometries and that this regularity condition is sharp.

  • This paper proposes a new framework for control system design, called the data-based control approach or data space approach, in which the input and output data of a dynamical system is directly and solely used to analyze or design a control system without the employment of any mathematical models like transfer functions, state space equations, and kernel representations. Since, in this approach, most of the analysis and design processes are carried out in the domain of the data space, we introduce some notions of geometrical objects, e.g., the openloop and closed-loop data spaces, which serve as the system representations in the data space. In addition, we establish a relationship between the open-loop and closed-loop data spaces that the closed-loop data space is contained in the open-loop data space as one of its subspaces. By using this relationship, we can derive the data-based stabilization condition for a linear time-invariant discrete-time system, which leads to a linear matrix inequality with a rank constraint.

Image Watermarking Scheme Based on Scale-Invariant Feature Transform

  • In this paper, a robust watermarking scheme is proposed that uses the scale-invariant feature transform (SIFT) algorithm in the discrete wavelet transform (DWT) domain. First, the SIFT feature areas are extracted from the original image. Then, one level DWT is applied on the selected SIFT feature areas. The watermark is embedded by modifying the fractional portion of the horizontal or vertical, high-frequency DWT coefficients. In the watermark extracting phase, the embedded watermark can be directly extracted from the watermarked image without requiring the original cover image. The experimental results showed that the proposed scheme obtains the robustness to both signal processing and geometric attacks. Also, the proposed scheme is superior to some previous schemes in terms of watermark robustness and the visual quality of the watermarked image.

  • In this paper, we presented an extension of the broadband DOA estimation method using frequency-domain frequency-invariant beamforming (FDFIB). The technique uses FDFIB instead of conventional frequency invariant beamforming (FIB) methods. And different narrowband DOA estimation methods, MUSIC, ESPRIT, and MPM, are used respectively. A comparison is made to demonstrate that the FDFIB-MPM not only offers a better resolution than the FDFIB-MUSIC, FDFIB-ESPRIT, but also it is computationally very efficient.

선형 Singular 시스템 이론의 전기 회로에의 적용 (An Application of Linear Singular System Theory To Electric Circuits)

  • This paper aims not only to introduce the concept of linear singular systems, geometric structure, and feedback but also to provide applications of the multivariable linear singular system theories to electric circuits which may appear in some electronic equipments. The impulsive or discontinuous behavior which is not desirable can be removed by the set of admissible initial conditions. The output-nulling supremal (A,E,B) invariant subspace and the singular system structure algorithm are applied to this double-input double-output electric circuit. The Weierstrass form of the pencil (s E-A) is related to the output-nulling supremal (A,E,B) invariant subspace from which the time domain solutions of the finite and the infinite subsystems are found. The generalized Lyapunov equation for this application with feedback is studied and finally, the use of orthogonal functions in singular systems is discussed.

  • This paper introduces a nonlinear wavelet transform based on the lifting scheme, which is applied to signal denoising through the translation invariant wavelet transform. The wavelet representation using orthogonal wavelet bases has received widespread attention. Recently the lifting scheme has been developed for the construction of biorthogonal wavelets in the spatial domain. In this paper, we adaptively reduce the vanishing moments in the discontinuities to suppress the ringing artifacts and this customizes wavelet transforms providing an efficient framework for the translation invariant denoising. Special care has been given to the boundaries, where we design a set of different prediction coefficients to reduce the prediction error.

  • A range-frequency interference pattern is analyzed in the course of the propagation of ship noise in shallow water. It has been shown to exhibit striated bands of intensity maxima and minima in the spectrogram. The slope of the striations is an invariant of the modal interference and is described by a waveguide invariant parameter $\beta$. It turns out that this interference pattern is useful for identifying the physical properties of the waveguide such as seabed properties. In this article, the interference pattern is analyzed using image processing techniques to produce the distribution of the beta and the effects of sediment types and geoacoustic parameters on beta distribution are examined and characterized by moments of the distributions.

불변의 무게중심을 템플릿으로 이용한 대수-극 좌표계 영상 워터마킹 기법 (Log-Polar Image Watermarking based on Invariant Centroid as Template)

  • 디지털 영상에서 워터마킹이란 영상의 저작권 보호를 위한 방법이다. 이때 삽입되는 저작권 정보를 워터마크라 하고 이는 외부의 공격을 받더라도 쉽게 제거되지 않아야 한다. 그러나 대부분의 워터마킹 기법이 영상 압축, 필터링 둥의 파형 공격(waveform attack) 에는 강인하나 회전, 크기 변화, 이동, 잘려짐(cropping) 등과 같은 기하학적 공격(geometrical attack) 에 쉽게 깨어지는 단점을 보인다. 본 논문에서는 기하학적 공격에 대한 해결책으로 영상에서 불변의 무게중심(invariant centroid) 을 구하고 이를 템플릿(template) 으로 이용한 대수-극 좌표계 변환과 이산 여현 변환(Discrete Cosine Transform: DCT) 을 사용하여 워터마크를 삽입하고 검출하는 방법을 제안한다. 워터마크가 첨가된 영상에 가해지는 기하학적 공격은 불변의 무게중심과 대수-극 좌표계를 이용한 방법으로 극복하고, 파형 공격은 DCT 변환을 이용하여 해결하였다. 또한 워터마크 정보만을 역 LPM 변환하여 원 영상에 삽입하는 간접 삽입 방법을 사용함으로써 좌표계 변환으로 인한 화질의 열화를 막을 수 있었다. 실험 결과 제안된 방법은 기존의 방법에서 삽입된 워터마크의 검출이 불가능한 잘림을 동반한 기하학적 공격 후에도 워터마크의 검출이 가능하였다.

  • This paper deals with a novel method of modeling and analyzing multilevel pulse width modulation(PWM) inverter/rectifier, which leads to extraction of equivalent circuit in fundamental frequency domain. By the technique, we can draw out the corresponding linear time invariant circuit even thuogh the actual circuit is switched. A static VAR compensator using five-level inverter is modeled and simulated for the verification of the modeling.
