  • The present research deals with two-dimensional axisymmetric deformation in transversely isotropic magneto thermoelastic solid with and without energy dissipation, with two temperature and time-harmonic source. The proposed model is helpful for finding the type of relations between mechanical and thermal fields as most of the structural elements of heavy industries are frequently related to mechanical and thermal stresses at a higher temperature. The Hankel transform has been used to find a solution to the problem. The displacement components, stress components, and temperature distribution with the horizontal distance in the physical domain are calculated numerically. The effect of time-harmonic source and two temperature is depicted graphically on the resulting quantities.

  • In this work, we present the development of a 3D lattice-type model at microscale based upon the Voronoi-cell representation of material microstructure. This model can capture the coupling between mechanic and electric fields with non-linear constitutive behavior for both. More precisely, for electric part we consider the ferroelectric constitutive behavior with the possibility of domain switching polarization, which can be handled in the same fashion as deformation theory of plasticity. For mechanics part, we introduce the constitutive model of plasticity with the Armstrong-Frederick kinematic hardening. This model is used to simulate a complete coupling of the chosen electric and mechanics behavior with a multiscale approach implemented within the same computational architecture.

  • The present paper discusses the nonlinear wave deformation due to a submerged coastal structure. Theory is based on the frequency-domain method using the third order perturbation and boundary integral method. Theoretical development to the second order perturbation and boundary integral method. Theoretical development to the second order Stokes wave for a bottom-seated submerged breakwater to the sea floor is newly expanded to the third order for a submerged coastal structure shown in Figure 1. Validity is demonstrated by comparing numerical results with the experimental ones of a rectangular air chamber structure, which has the same dimensions as that of this study. Nonlinear waves become larger and larger with wave propagation above the crown of the structure, and are transmitted to the onshore side of the structure. These characteristics are shown greatly as the increment of Ursell number on the structure. The total water profile depends largely on the phase lag among the first, second and third order component waves.

  • This research deals with the study of two-dimensional deformation in transversely isotropic thermoelastic diffusion medium. This investigation integrates the effect of diffusion and thermal effects in transversely isotropic thermoelastic solids under inclined load. Inclined load is taken as linear combination of normal load and tangential load. Laplace and Fourier transformation techniques are employed to transform the physical domain and then transformed solutions are inverted with the aid of numerical inversion techniques. Concentrated and distributed load are considered to exemplify its utility. Graphical representation of variation in displacement, stresses, temperature and concentration distribution with distance is depicted by taking inclination at different angles. Some particular cases are studied.

  • Recently, there have been various problems aroused on the domestic infrastructures as the domestic cities become old. Accordingly, the national concerns grow on the urban railway and the related structures, which brings the national interests are brought on the research on the maintenance and rehabilitation of the old infrastructures. The underground structure of urban railway are checked with the strain gages or fiber brag grating (FBG) sensors on the railway. However, these methods are known to have resolution limitations on the investigations of the specified abnormal section. Therefore, the applicability of the Brillouin Optical Correlation Domain Analysis (BOCDA) based distributed fiber optic sensor system on the railway was evaluated in this study. The constructed BOCDA fiber optic sensor system shows high resolution of 10, 20, 50, 100 cm and capability of continuous monitoring on overall or specified section within 2 km range. The applicability evaluation was performed on the 250 m distribution of fiber optic sensors abandoned railway for continuous monitoring. The applicability of the system on the specified area was evaluated with wheel load testing. As a result, data loss tends to increase with the reduction of spatial resolution from 1.0 m to 0.1 m. Even though the measuring speed is reduced with lower spatial resolution, data accuracy increases on the location and deformation. The system can be applicable to various structures if the proper distribution method is invented later.

  • Geophysical survey for establishing a wide site for the distribution of water content, wetting front infiltration due to the rainfall, and distribution of groundwater level has been performed by using 8round penetration radar (GPR) method, electrical resistivity method, and so on. On the other hand, a narrow area survey was performed to use a permittivity method such as time domain reflectometry, frequency domain reflectometry, and amplitude domain reflectometry methods for estimating volumetric water content, soil density, and concentration of contaminant in surface and subsurface. The permittivity methods establish more corrective physical parameters than different found survey technologies mentioned above. In this study for establishment of infiltration behaviors for wetting front in the unsaturated soil caused by an artificial rainfall, soil physical parameters for volumetric water content, pore water pressure, and pore air pressure were measured by FDR measurement device and pore water pressure meter which are installed in the unsaturated weathered granite soil with different depths. Consequently, the authors were proposed to a new establishment method for analyzing the variations of volumetric water content and wetting front infiltration from the responses of infiltrating pore water in the unsaturated soil.

  • In order to assess the fault behavior by the geometric analysis of fault slip, the study area between Yangsan city and Shinkwang-myon, Pohang city along the strike of the Yangsan fault is divided into 5 domains($A{\sim}E$ domains) based on the strike change of main fault, the type of fault termination, the cyclic variation of fault zone width, deformation pattern of fault rocks and angular deviation of secondary shears. And, we would apply the relationship between the mode of fault sliding and the resultant deformation texture obtained from previous several experimental studies of simulated fault gouge to the study of the Yangsan fault. To understand sliding behavior of the fault we measured the data of fault attitude and fault slip, and analyzed relationships between the main fault and secondary Riedel shear along the Yangsan fault. The sliding behavioral patterns in each section were analyzed as followings; the straight sections of A, D and E domains were analyzed as the creeping section of stably sliding. In contrast, the curved section of B domain was analyzed as the locked section of stick-slip movement.

  • Deformation in the hysteresis loop of $Pb(Zr,Ti)O_3$ (PZT) thin films with various Zr/Ti ratios has been studied by varying the top electrode preparation method and the annealing temperature. Pt/PZT/Pt capacitors was found to be positively poled due to dc plasma potential generated during reactive ion etch (RIE) of Rt. Internal field is formed by space charges trapped at domain boundaries. Aging phenomenon such as constriction in the middle of the hysteresis loop was observed in the PZT film with top electrode deposited by sputtering. Top electrode annealing restores the hysteresis loop by removing the space charges. As Zr/Ti ratio decrease, voltage shift increases and an-nealing temperature at which internal field disappears also increases.

  • This research is devoted to study post-buckling analysis of functionally graded carbon nanotubes reinforced composite (FG-CNTRC) micro plate with cut out subjected to magnetic field and resting on elastic medium. The basic formulation of plate is based on first order shear deformation theory (FSDT) and the material properties of FG-CNTRCs are presumed to be changed through the thickness direction, and are assumed based on rule of mixture; moreover, nonlocal Eringen's theory is applied to consider the size-dependent effect. It is considered that the system is embedded in elastic medium and subjected to longitudinal magnetic field. Energy approach, domain decomposition and Rayleigh-Ritz methods in conjunction with Newton-Raphson iterative technique are employed to trace the post-buckling paths of FG-CNTRC micro cut out plate. The influence of some important parameters such as small scale effect, cut out dimension, different types of FG distributions of CNTs, volume fraction of CNTs, aspect ratio of plate, magnitude of magnetic field, elastic medium and biaxial load on the post-buckling behavior of system are calculated. With respect to results, it is concluded that the aspect ratio and length of square cut out have negative effect on post-buckling response of micro composite plate. Furthermore, existence of CNTs in system causes improvement in the post-buckling behavior of plate and different distributions of CNTs in plate have diverse response. Meanwhile, nonlocal parameter and biaxial compression load on the plate has negative effect on post-buckling response. In addition, imposing magnetic field increases the post-buckling load of the microstructure.

  • In this paper, we introduce the technology to convert a single human image into a fashion show animation video clip. The technology can help the customers confirm the dynamic fitting result when combined with the virtual try on technique as well as the interesting experience to a normal person of being a fashion model. We developed an extended technique of full human 2D to 3D inverse modeling based on SMPLify human body inverse modeling technique, and a rigged model animation method. The 3D shape deformation of the full human from the body model was performed by 2 part deformation in the image domain and reconstruction using the estimated depth information. The quality of resultant animation videos are made to be publically available for evaluation. We consider it is a promising approach for commercial application when supplemented with the post - processing technology such as image segmentation technique, mapping technique and restoration technique of obscured area.
