This study assessed scuba divers' wetsuit selection criteria based on the gender, age and scuba diving commitment level along with identifying currently owned and preferred wetsuit types. Lamb and Kallal's Functional, Expressive, and Aesthetic Consumer Needs (FEA) Model was the conceptual framework used for this study. Scuba diving has seen consistent growth, worldwide, it is necessary to investigate with wetsuit needs of this consumer group. A survey of 302 active scuba divers participated in the study. Total participants included 202 male and 100 female scuba divers. Divers stated fit was the most highly rated criteria with don/doff being most problematic. Female and older divers regarded functional performance criterion greatly(p<.05). Highly committed divers regarded the functional quality (p<.01) and aesthetic/expressive features (p<.05) of the wetsuit as important and owned more wetsuits(p<.01). Gender saw differences in required sizes ranges(p<.001) and style preferences(p<.05). Results suggest gender, age, and commitment levels all impact the wetsuit selection criteria of scuba divers.

In order to achieve this purpose, a total of 310 customers over the age of 20 were selected as study participants form diving pools and dive resort in Seoul, Gyeonggi, Gangwon, Gyeongsang area using the convenience sampling method. However, only data from 295 customers were used after screening the data for reliability. The instrument for data collection was a questionnaire, and descriptive statistics, inter-item consistency reliability, t-test, ANOVA, post hoc test, correlation analysis, pearson chi-square test were conducted on the data using the SPSS 21.0 version statistical package program. The followings are the results: First, risk perception differs significantly according to age, education level, occupation and participation period. Second, participation period and safety knowledge have positive correlation.
In the event of a maritime accident, search plans have traditionally been planned using experiential methods. However, these approaches cannot guarantee safety when the scale of a maritime accident increases. Therefore, this study proposes a model utilizing discrete event simulation (DES) to predict the diving time for compartment searches of a ship located on the seabed. The discrete event simulation model was created by applying the DEVS formalism. The M/V Sewol sinking was used as an example to simulate how to effectively navigate compartments of different sizes. The simulation results showed the optimal dive time with the number of decompression chambers needed to navigate the compartment as a variable. Based on this, we propose a methodology for efficient navigation planning while ensuring diver safety.
This research develops a sensorless hydraulic servo system of Parallel-Typed robot for harbour construction. Purpose of the robot is to mechanize the construction, which is accomplished through a joystick's operating by a stoneworker (or diver). The robot is attached on the end of an excavator as its attachment or transported by a crane to reach the desired place. The embedded compact controller is installed on the robot body and controlled by wireless telecommunication. For underwater work, it is necessary to waterproof the robot and its sensors. Especially, a sensor waterproof is a main drawback for the underwater robot. This leads us to develop a hydraulic robot position controller using an observer which gives the position information without any position sensor. We design a neural network to identify the displacement change according to the command voltage to servo valve. To verify the sensorless controller, this paper presents the performance of the sensorless control for which the position is given by the observer comparing with that of the sensor control for which the position is measured by LVDT sensors.
This study was conducted to analyze genetic characteristics of Korean Native Chicken three lines classified on the basis of the feather color and appearance (Red, Yellow, and Black) using DNA fingerprinting method. To estimate the genetic relatedness among breeds and similarities within breeds, we collected blood samples from Korean Native Chicken (KNC), Rhode Island Red (RIR), White Leghorn (WL), and Cornish(CN) and obtained genomic DNA from the blood of 10 individuals randomly selected within the breeds and lines. The genomic DNA samples were digested with restriction enzymes (Hinf J, Hae Ill) and hybridized with various probes (Jeffreys' probes 33.15, 33.6 and M13) after Southern transfer. Genetic similarities within breeds were characterized by band sharing (BS) value, estimated by the DFP band pattern between the pair of lanes. BS values within WL, RIR, and KNC were 0.82, 0.70 and 0.56, respectively. Relative genetic diversity (BS value) of KNC was higher than those two breeds (WL, RIR). Estimation of genetic similarity between KNC lines and control breed (RIR) was 0.32, whereas similarity within KNC lines (6 groups) was 0.50. In this analysis, KNC was showed to have a highly genetic diver-sity at the DNA level, and to be closer in genetic distance to RIR (0.67) than any other breeds.
The multiple targets tracking problem has been one of the main issues in the radar applications area in the last decade. Besides the standard Kalman filtering, various methods including the variable dimen-sion filter, input estimation filter, interacting multiple model(IMM) filter, dederated variable dimension filter with input estimation, etc., have proposed to address the tracking and sensor fusion issues. In this pa- per, two existing tracking algorithm, i.e, the IMM filter and the variable dimension filter with input estima-tion(VDIE), are combined for the purpose of improving the tracking performance for maneuvering targets. To evaluate the tracking performance of the proposed algorithm, three typical maneuvering patterns, i.e., waver, pop-up, and high-diver motions, are defined and are applied to the modified IMM filter as well as the standard IMM filter. The smaller RMS tracking errors, in position and velocity, of the modified IMM filter than the standard IMM filter are demonstrated though computer simulations.
