  • Nowadays, urbanized area expands its boundary, and distribution of urbanized area is gradually transformed into more complicated pattern. In Korea, SMA(Seoul Metropolitan Area) has outstanding urbanized area since 1950s. But it is ambiguous whether urban distribution is clustered or dispersed. This study aims to show the way in which expansion of urbanized area impacts on spatial distribution pattern of urbanized area. We use quadrat analysis, nearest-neighbor analysis and fractal analysis to know distribution pattern of urbanized area in time-series urban growth. The quadrat analysis indicates that distribution pattern of urbanized area is clustered but the cohesion is gradually weakened. And the nearest-neighbor analysis shows that point patterns are changed that urbanized area distribution pattern is progressively changed from clustered pattern into dispersed pattern. The fractal dimension analysis shows that 1972's distribution dimension is 1.428 and 2000's dimension is 1.777. Therefore, as time goes by, the complexity of urbanized area is more increased through the years. As a result, we can show that the cohesion of the urbanized area is weakened and complicated.

  • LGP(Light-Guide Panel) of LCD backlight is one of the major componets which affect on the product quality of LCD. The optical relation between brightness and pattern has been investigated for LGP with the uniform distribution of brightness. When given the brightness distribution as target, the solutions of pattern distribution is not unique. Each solution of pattern designs shows the different brightness intensity even though they have the same brightness distribution with target's one. The manufacturing condition of pattern has an influence on the possibly-maximum-brightness intensity among the solutions of pattern design. The present study has examined the effects of LGP thickness, pattern shape errors, and reflection film on the optical characteristics of LGP.

  • This study was conducted to evaluate spatial distribution pattern and spatial association of crowns (${\geq}10m$ of height) and saplings (<10 m of height and ${\geq}2cm$ of DBH) for four major tree species (Pinus koraiensis, Abies nephrolepis, Acer mono, and Tilia amurensis) in the mixed broadleaved-Korean pine forest of Xiaoxing'an Mts. Vegetation data were collected in the 9 ha permanent sample plot, and the analysis adopted the point pattern analysis method. Main results are as follows; 1) crowns and saplings of major species showed clumped distribution pattern in small scale, became random distribution as the scale was increased. 2) Saplings of Pinus koraiensis performed poor regeneration under the crowns of Pinus koraiensis and Abies nephrolepis; Saplings of Abies nephrolepis did good regeneration under the crowns of Pinus koraiensis and Abies nephrolepis; and crowns of Acer mono and Tilia amurensis had little effect on the distribution of saplings of Pinus koraiensis and Abies nephrolepis. Saplings of Acer mono and Tilia amurensis made good regeneration under the crowns of Pinus koraiensis and Tilia amurensis; and the crowns of Acer mono and Abies nephrolepis had little effect on the distribution of saplings of Acer mono.

  • Purpose - Transnational corporations (TNCs) have influenced drastic changes (financial services, manufacturing, labor, technology transfer) in Central Eastern Europe (CEE). This paper examines the indirect changes in the CEE pattern of industrial development and market distribution. Research design, data, and methodology - Over 25 years, neighboring (or rival) countries competed to attract TNCs as a double-edged strategy for privatization and debt reduction. Through their experience attracting foreign direct investment (FDI), many countries started to reflect aspects of national capitalism. Countries also began to realize in 2010 that TNCs sought to enter markets with more favorable conditions for export-oriented manufacturing. Results - The analysis reveals that TNC investment strategies were aimed at eliminating local competition to acquire industrial "brown fields" to convert into "green fields." CEE countries have since strengthened their national systems and the support of large-scale state-owned enterprises and small and medium-sized start-up enterprises. Conclusions - CEE has changed based on industrial development and a regional structure of TNC market distribution and associated government policies. The pattern toward flexible markets gives countries the ability to further their economies.

  • Nowadays, urbanized area expands its boundary, and distribution of urbanized area is gradually transformed into more complicated pattern. In Korea, SMA(Seoul Metropolitan Area) has outstanding urbanized area since 1960. But it is ambiguous whether urban distribution is clustered or dispersed. That is to say, it is difficult to understand spatial distribution pattern of urbanized area, although urbanized area has grown gradually. This study aims to show the way in which expansions of urbanized area impact on spatial distribution pattern of urbanized area. We use GIS analysis based on raster dataset, quadrat analysis, and nearest neighbor analysis to know distribution pattern of urbanized area in time-series urban growth. Experiments show that cohesion of SMA's urbanized area had increased to the early 1980s, but has decreased from the middle 1980s. Also, urban growth of SMA has been characterized not by spillover growth but by leapfrogging growth and road-influenced growth since the middle 1980s.

  • Body image is important as it is related to self-esteem and can be enhanced by clothing and the degree of enhancement is related to clothing fit. The purpose of the paper is to find the adequate ease distribution of jacket pattern for the obese women who want to slenderize their shape by optical illusion. Subjective evaluation of the visual appearance we collected and, at the same time, 3D clothing air volume was observed for the nine types of experimental jackets with different ease distribution. As results it was found that jacket pattern for the obese women is that the front width of pattern is wider than what of back width in waist and abdomen. It was also noted that there was distance between clothing and skin in the girth around hip of jacket. 3D scanner clearly demonstrated the distribution of ease is useful to find the pattern variables responsible for the slender appearance of the obese women. The ready-to-made clothes for the obese women's clothing should be manufactured systematically in due consideration of the diversity and scarcity of the obese women's body shape.

  • Larval densities and spatial distribution patterns of beet armyWorm, Spodoptera exigua, were studied in the welsh onion field located in Asan from June to November, 1991. During the period, there were two denslty-peaks;mid August and mid~late September. The larvae showed clumped distribution patterns. but the patterns changed into random as larval density decreased in Oct.ober. Each larval instar showed clumped pattern expect 6th instar surveyed on September 25, which distributed in a random pattern. The larval distribution pattern were also influenced by the host plants;clumped pattern on such host. as red pepper and welsh onion, versus random pattern on such hosts as chrysanthemum, peanut and soybean.

  • In the paper, we summarize the result of the experimental research for the overload criteria of domestic distribution transformers considering the electric consumption patterns of customers. For the basic characteristic data of distribution transformer overload, the actual experiments are accomplished. The field data of loads are surveyed from sample transformers for analyzing the consumption pattern of customer load. The load data acquisition devices are equipped, and the algorithm of load pattern classification is applied. In addition to this efforts, various load pattern data. in past are gathered. Then the representative load pattern of each customer type in domestic is extracted. The final results of overload criterions are presented as tabular form through the results of experiments and survey are combined. The field test of the experiment results is peformed using the special manufactured transformers, which can measure both the load and top-oil temperature of transformer. Through this, we verify that the results of field test are similar to the laboratory one and the Proposed overload criteria can be effectively applied to the real system.

  • This study was carried out to understand long-range transport of $SO_2$ using aircraft measurements for the identification of it's horizontal and vertical concentration and distribution pattern. Thirteen missions of aircraft measurements have been done around 37$^{\circ}$00'/124$^{\circ}$30' from October 1997 to November 2001. Concentrations of $SO_2$ was 1.5~2.0 ppb in the below mixing layer, 0.6~1.1 ppb in the above mixing layer. $SO_2$ was found to be relatively higher than marine background level, 0.08~0.2ppb, indicating the western coast being influenced by long-range transport except for the summer season. The vertical distribution of $SO_2$ was classified into 3 groups using its vertical sounding and meteorology pattern; the first is linear decay pattern, the second is exponential decay pattern, and the last is gaussian distribution pattern in the below mixing layer, 2 patterns of linear decay and gaussian distribution patterns in the upper layer. It is founded that vertical distribution pattern is strongly dependent on meteorological condition, for example atmospheric stability and predominant air flow.

  • On the basis of vegetation data in the 9.12 ha (380 m ${\times}$ 240 m) permanent sample plot of the spruce-fir valley forest in Liangshui National Reserve of Xiaoxing'an Mountains, the study was conducted to evaluate spatial distribution pattern and spatial association by using point pattern analysis for living and dead trees of Larix gmelini by DBH size class. The number of L. gmelini were counted as 59 living stems/ha (6.42 $m^2$/ha of basal area) and 34 dead stems/ha (2.86 $m^2$/ha of basal area). The distributional curve of diameter class exhibited bimodal shape. The analysis of spatial distribution patterns of all living larch stems noted the clumped distribution on the whole. The size of larch aggregates of dead stems was decreased as diameter class was increased. The distribution of dead stems became gradually randomized with decreased clumped size as the scale increased. Living stems and dead stems of the larch had positive spatial association at most of scales, illustrating that the occurrence of mortality of the larch tree was closely related to the distribution pattern of living larch trees.
