  • Replication routing can greatly improve the data delivery performance by enabling multiple replicas of the same packet to be transmitted towards its destination simultaneously. It has been studied extensively recently and is now a widely accepted routing paradigm in delay tolerant networks (DTNs). However, in this field, the issue of how to maximize the utilization efficiency of limited replication quota in a resource-saving manner and therefore making replication routing to be more efficient in networks with limited resources has not received enough attention. In this paper, we propose a DTN routing protocol with back-pressure based replica distribution. Our protocol models the replica distribution problem from a resource allocation perspective and it utilizes the idea of back-pressure algorithm, which can be used for providing efficient network resource allocation for replication quota assignment among encountered nodes. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed protocol significantly outperforms existing replication routing protocols in terms of packet delay and delivery ratio.

  • This paper describes controller design and implementation method for controlling the temperature distribution in a thermal stratified wind tunnel(TSWT) by using a neural network algorithm. It is impossible to derive a mathematical model of the relation between heat inputs and temperature outputs in the test section of the TSWT governed by a nonlinear turbulent flow. Thus inverse neural network models with a multi layer perceptron structure are used in a feedforward control loop and feedback control loop to generate an arbitrary temperature distribution in the test section of the TSWT.

  • Purpose: Marketing networks are essential for firms to gain new information and resources, yet their effect on innovation performance under uncertainty remains unclear. This study aims to elucidate the effects of technological and demand variability on the innovation performance of first-tier suppliers, considering different levels of structural holes. It particularly explores how structural holes moderate the relationship between uncertain factors and innovation performance. Research design, data and methodology: To assess the hypotheses, a survey was conducted with the first-tier suppliers. The survey targeted internal networks and the relationships between manufacturers, suppliers, and subsuppliers. Structural equation modeling was employed to validate the hypotheses using measures from previous research. Results: The findings indicate that the impact of technological uncertainty and demand variability on innovation performance varies based on the extent of structural holes in the network. Conclusions: This study provides both theoretical and practical insights for distribution channels, highlighting the competitive advantage of interfirm networks in uncertain conditions. However, the focus on the engineering industry may limit the generalizability of the findings. Future research should explore a broader range of industries to improve result applicability.

  • In this paper, we analyze weight distributions of neural networks. If we construct a vector containing all weights of a neural network, then training process can be viewed as finding a solution point in the weight space. In order to obtain insight into the training process of neural networks, we investigate the distribution of the solution points in the weight space Experiments provide some interesting results, showing that solution points tend to form clusters in the weight space and the information may be used to speed up the training process.

  • Measurement of Quality of Service (QoS) parameters and its statistical analysis becomes a key issue for Mobile WiMAX service providers to manage the converged network efficiently and to support end-to-end QoS. In this paper, we investigate the population distribution of end-to-end one-way delay which is the most important QoS parameter in Mobile WiMAX networks. The samples are analyzed with Chi-Square Goodness-of-Fit test, Kolmogorov-Smirnov (K-S), and Anderson-Darling (A-D) test to verify the distribution of parent population. The relation with confidence level and the minimum number of sample size is also performed for logistic distribution. The statistical analysis is a promising approach for measuring the performance Mobile WiMAX networks.

  • In this paper present Autonomous Adaptive Digital Over Current Relay for distribution networks which acts autonomous setting using the short circuit impedance measured by relay of power systems. Automation of relay setting is one of the basic requirements for distribution automation, although manual relay setting is used at present. The short circuit impedance from a power source in distribution networks essential for the Autonomous Relay Setting changes frequently in distribution networks. In this paper the short circuit impedance is calculated with voltage and current measured in real time operation of digital relay using the Recursive Least Squares. A new method of digital relay setting is introduced using the the short circuit impedance and load current.

  • Currently, there is no definitive regulation for the appropriate frequency of data sampling in water distribution networks, yet it plays a crucial role in the efficient operation of these systems. This study proposes a new methodology for determining the optimal frequency of data acquisition in water distribution networks. Based on the decomposition of signals using harmonic series, this methodology has been validated using actual data from water distribution networks. By analyzing 12 types of data collected from two points, it was demonstrated that utilizing the factors and cumulative periodograms of harmonic series enables similar accuracy at lower data acquisition frequencies compared to the original signals. • Security in wireless sensor networks is very pressing especially when sensor nodes are deployed in hostile environments. To obtain security purposes, it is essential to be able to encrypt and authenticate messages sent amongst sensor nodes. Keys for encryption and authentication must be agreed upon by communicating nodes. Due to resource limitations and other unique features, obtaining such key agreement in wireless sensor network is extremely complex. Many key agreement schemes used in general networks, such as trusted server, Diffie-Hellman and public-key based schemes, are not suitable for wireless sensor networks [1], [2], [5], [7], [8]. In that situation, key pre-distribution scheme has been emerged and considered as the most appropriate scheme [2], [5], [7]. Based on that sense, we propose a new resource-optimal key pre-distribution scheme utilizing merits of the two existing key pre-distribution schemes [3], [4]. Our scheme exhibits the fascinating properties: substantial improvement in sensors' resource usage, rigorous guarantee of successfully deriving pairwise keys between any pair of nodes, greatly improved network resiliency against node capture attack. We also present a detailed analysis in terms of security and resource usage of the scheme.

  • Through the development of efficient data collecting technologies like RFID, and inter-enterprise collaboration platforms such as web services, companies which participate in supply chains can acquire visibility over the whole supply chain, and can make decisions to optimize the overall supply chain networks and processes, based on the extracted knowledge from historical data collected by the visibility system. Although not currently active, the MeatWatch system has been developed, and is used in part for this purpose, in the imported beef distribution network in Korea. However, the imported beef distribution network is too complicated to analyze its various aspects using ordinary process analysis approaches. In this paper, we suggest a novel approach, called RFID-based supply chain process mining, to automatically discover and analyze the overall supply chain processes from the distributed RFID event data, without any prior knowledge. The proposed approach was implemented and validated, by using a case study of the imported beef distribution network in Korea. Specifically we demonstrated that the proposed approach can be successfully applied to discover supply chain networks from the distributed event data, to simplify the supply chain networks, and to analyze anomaly of the distribution networks. Such novel process mining functionalities can reinforce the capability of traceability services like MeatWatch in the future.
