  • Uniformity of the wafer temperature is one of the important factors in etching process. Plasma, chucking force, backside helium pressure and the surface temperature of ESC(electrostatic chuck) affect the wafer temperature. ESC consists of several layers of structure. Each layer has own thermal resistance and the Si-adhesive layer has highest thermal resistance among them. In this work, the temperature distribution of ESC was analyzed by 3-D FEM with various defects and the thickness deviation of the Si-adhesive layer. The result with Si-adhesive layer with the low center thickness deviation shows modified temperature distribution of ESC surface.

  • In this paper, the hybrid illumination system for effectively detecting surface defects in steel plate with lowcontrast, non-uniformity and featureless is designed based on illuminance uniformity. First of all, characteristics of steel plate defects were considered and typical inspection illumination system is implemented. Optimum illumination parameters for uniformly illuminating an inspection area in the typical illumination system are selected based on the illuminance uniformity and illuminance distribution measurement. The illuminance uniformity and illuminance distribution are measured using an illuminometer based on the arduino. Through illuminance distribution analysis of the typical illumination, an hybrid illumination is designed by fusing bi-directional illumination and coaxial illumination. The hybrid illumination showed higher uniformity ratio and illuminance distribution than the typical illuminations. The hybrid illumination system showed the ability to uniformly illuminate the entire inspection region of steel plate surface.

  • In this letter, a simplified suboptimum receiver based on soft-limiting for the detection of binary antipodal signals in non-Gaussian noise modeled as a generalized normal-Laplace (GNL) distribution combined with Gaussian noise is presented. The suboptimum receiver has low computational complexity. Furthermore, when the number of diversity branches is small, its performance is very close to that of the Neyman-Pearson optimum receiver based on the probability density function obtained by the Fourier inversion of the characteristic function of the GNL-plus-Gaussian distribution.

  • Phytoplankton community was investigated at the Paldang Dam Reservoir in the Mid-Han River by it's depth, in spring and summer known as the period of phytoplankton's blooming. It was only in summer that phytoplankton bloomed at the investigated area. 128 kinds of phytoplankton were identified and of them, diatoms were abundunt in spring but cyanophyta and chlorophyta were in summer. Because some species with high pollution index were observed in summer, it could be proved that the investigated area was polluted especially in summer. In spring shown the circulation period by vertical distribution pattern of chlorophyll-a and isothermal distribution pattern of water temperature, maximum value of phytoplankton standing crops appeared at the upper layer, except for surface layer. In summer shown the circulation period after the stagnation period by vertical distribution pattern of chlorophyll-a and immediate destruction after stratification of water temperature, maximum value of phytoplankton standing crops appeared at the lower layer. the layer at which the maximum value of chlorophyll-a appeared also accorded with that of phytoplankton standing crops. So, it could be approved that there existed a close relationship among phytoplankton standing crops, chlorophyll-a, and water temperature.

  • The Preisach model neds a density function or Everett function for the hysterisis operator to simulate the hysteresis phenomena. To obtain the function, many experimental data for the first order transition curves are required. However, it needs so much efforts to measure the curves, especially for the hard magnetic materials. By the way, it is well known that the density function has the Gaussian distribution for the interaction axis on the Preisach plane. In this paper, we propose a simple technique to determine the distribution function or Everett function analytically. The initial magnetization curve is used for the distribution of the Everett function for the coercivity axis. A major, minor loop and the initial curve are used to get the Everett function for the interaction axis using the Gaussian distribution function and acceptable results were obtained.

  • The distribution rate of 4f and 5f series elements in chelate and ion association extraction system was studied. Clear difference between lighter and heavier part of 4f series are observed. Trivalent Am and Cm were appeared to be grouped into the lighter part of 4f series. And also the variation of distribution ratio according to the varied temperature was studied. The variation modes of distribution ratio are different according to the extraction system. Atomic number dependence in the chelate extraction system was observed.

  • Magnetic properties of CoPt nanoparticles (average size = 2.1 nm) encapsulated in synthesized protein shell have been investigated with SQUID (Superconducting Quantum Interference Device) magnetometer and analyzed by the recently developed non-equilibrium magnetization calculation by our group [T. H. Lee et al., Phys. Rev. B 90, 184411 (2014)]. Field dependence of magnetization measured at 2 K was successfully analyzed with modified Langevin function. In addition, small hysteresis loops having the coercive field of 890 Oe were observed at 2 K. Temperature dependence of magnetization has been measured with zero field cooled (ZFC) and field cooled (FC) protocol with slightly modified sequence in accordance with non-equilibrium magnetization calculation. The analysis on the M vs. T data revealed that the anisotropy energy barrier distribution is found to be very different from the log-normal distribution found in a size distribution. Zero temperature coercive field and Bloch coefficient have also been extracted from the analysis and the validity of those values is checked.

  • The water status of the leaves of several evergreen plants was investigated in order to discuss the geopgraphical distribution of them. Relastionship between relative water content and water potential of the leaves showed linear decrease for evergreen conifers but exponential decrease for Korean box tree (Buxus microphylla var. koreana). On the basis of the leaf water potential, the water status of the conifers during wintering was distinctly divided into three periods; hardening, cold resistance and dehardening, but lacking in those periods for the Korean box tree, where the status continously decreased. In the cold resistance the leaf water potentials were -23 bar for both spruce (Picea jezoensis) and yew (Taxus cuspidata). From these results and threshold temperature at beginning of hardening, distribution of the conifers was explained that in order of the red pine, the Korean white pine, the yew and the spruce the distribution could be extended at higher altitudes and in more northward areas, whereas the distribution of the Korean box tree was restricted to the lowland of temperate zone.

  • Clustering is a method for unsupervised learning. General clustering tools have been depended on statistical methods and machine learning algorithms. One of the popular clustering algorithms based on machine learning is the self organizing map(SOM). SOM is a neural networks model for clustering. SOM and extended SOM have been used in diverse classification and clustering fields such as data mining. But, SOM has had a problem determining optimal number of clusters. In this paper, we propose an improvement of SOM using gap statistic and probability distribution. The gap statistic was introduced to estimate the number of clusters in a dataset. We use gap statistic for settling the problem of SOM. Also, in our research, weights of feature nodes are updated by probability distribution. After complete updating according to prior and posterior distributions, the weights of SOM have probability distributions for optima clustering. To verify improved performance of our work, we make experiments compared with other learning algorithms using simulation data sets.

  • This paper presents basic queueing analysis contributing to teletraffc theory, with commonly accessible mathematical tools. This paper studies queueing systems with bulk arrivals. It is assumed that the number of arrivals and the expected number of arrivals in each bulk are bounded by some constraints B and (equation omitted), respectively. Subject to these constraints, convexity argument is used to show that the bulk-size probability distribution that results in the worst mean queue performance is an extremal distribution with support {1, B} and mean equal to A. Furthermore, from the viewpoint of security against denial-of-service attacks, this distribution remains the worst even if an adversary were allowed to choose the bulk-size distribution at each arrival instant as a function of past queue lengths; that is, the adversary can produce as bad queueing performance with an open-loop strategy as with any closed-loop strategy. These results are proven for an arbitrary arrival process with bulk arrivals and a general service model.
