  • In this paper, we establish some characterizations which is satisfied by the independence of the upper record values from the Weibull distribution. One characterization of several results is that $X{\in}W$ EI(1, $\alpha$), $\alpha>0$, if and only if $\frac{X_{U(m)}}{X_{U(n)}}$ and $X_{U(n)}$, $1{\leq}m are independent.

  • Multi-server queueing systems with retrials are widely used to model problems in a call center. We present an explicit formula for an approximation of the queue length distribution in a multi-server retrial queue, by using the Lerch transcendent. Accuracy of our approximation is shown in the numerical examples.

  • Let $\{X_n,\;n{\geq}1\}$ be a sequence of independent and identically distributed random variables with cdf F(x) which is absolutely continuous with pdf f(x) and F(x) < 1 for all x in ($-{\infty},\;{\infty}$). In this paper, we obtain the characterizations of the Gumbel distribution by lower record values.

  • The design of multi -echelon distribution system is need for appropriate inventory control strategy considering for systematic tradeoff between trunk cost in central warehouse and inventory cost in regional warehouse. This study presents a method of the efficient inventory control of multi-echelon distribution system through partial leadtime management.

  • The cost and customer service level of a logistics system depend primarily on the system design of the physical supply system and physical distribution system. The study presents the mathematical model and a huristic solution method of a combined location - vehicle routing problem(LVRP). In LVRP the objective is to determine the number and location of the distribution centers, the allocation of customers to distribution centers, and the vehicle delivery routes, so as to minimize the logistics total cost and satisfy the customer.

  • The structures of crystalline vitreous and liquid $SiO_2$ were Monte carlo simulated employing the potential energy function comprising Lennard-Jones 2-body and Axilrod-Teller 3-body potentials. Although the Si-O-Si angular distribution functions obtained in the simulation appear to be higher than the experimental results the other simulation results including SiO, O-O and Si-Si radial distribution functions and O-Si-O anglular distribution functions agree well with experimental data within acceptable limits. Themost important outcome in this study is that various $SiO_2$forms were successfully reproduced with the same potential energy function.

  • The Bayesian model selection procedures for the shape parameter of gamma distribution are proposed in order to test that the failure rate of gamma distribution is constant, increasing or decreasing. The encompassing intrinsic Bayes factor by Beger and Pericchi (1996) based on Jeffreys prior for shape parameter is used to investigate the usefulness of the proposed Bayesian model selection procedures via both real data and pseudo data.

  • Most of the accelerated life tests deal with tests that use only one accelerating variable and no other explanatory variables. Frequently, however, there is a test to use more than one accelerating or other experimental variables, such as, for examples, a test of capacitors at higher than usual conditions of temperature and voltage, a test of circuit boards at higher than usual conditions of temperature, humidity and voltage. A accelerated life test is extended to M-level stress accelerated life test with k-stress variables. The optimal design for Weibull distribution is studied with k-stress variables.

  • In this paper, we develop noninformative priors for the generalized Pareto distribution when the scale parameter is of interest. We developed the rst order and the second order matching priors. We revealed that the second order matching prior does not exist. It turns out that the reference prior and Jeffrey's prior do not satisfy a first order matching criterion, and Jeffreys' prior, the reference prior and the matching prior are different. Some simulation study is performed and a real example is given.

  • Cumulative residual Kullback-Leibler (CRKL) information is well defined on the empirical distribution function (EDF) and allows us to construct a EDF-based goodness of t test statistic. However, we need to consider a scaled CRKL because CRKL is not scale invariant. In this paper, we consider several criterions for estimating the scale parameter in the scale CRKL and compare the performances of the estimated CRKL in terms of both power and unbiasedness.
