  • We propose a rapid adaptive learning framework for streaming object detection, called EER-ASSL. The method combines the expected error reduction (EER) dependent rollback learning and the active semi-supervised learning (ASSL) for a rapid adaptive CNN detector. Most CNN object detectors are built on the assumption of static data distribution. However, images are often noisy and biased, and the data distribution is imbalanced in a real world environment. The proposed method consists of collaborative sampling and EER-ASSL. The EER-ASSL utilizes the active learning (AL) and rollback based semi-supervised learning (SSL). The AL allows us to select more informative and representative samples measuring uncertainty and diversity. The SSL divides the selected streaming image samples into the bins and each bin repeatedly transfers the discriminative knowledge of the EER and CNN models to the next bin until convergence and incorporation with the EER rollback learning algorithm is achieved. The EER models provide a rapid short-term myopic adaptation and the CNN models an incremental long-term performance improvement. EER-ASSL can overcome noisy and biased labels in varying data distribution. Extensive experiments shows that EER-ASSL obtained 70.9 mAP compared to state-of-the-art technology such as Faster RCNN, SSD300, and YOLOv2.

  • A self-organizing multiple unmanned aerial vehicles (multi-UAVs) deployment based on virtual forces has a difficulty in ensuring the quality-of-experience (QoE) of users because of the difference between the assumed center for users in a hotspot and an actual center for users in the hotspot. This discrepancy is aggravated in a non-uniform and mobile user distribution. To address this problem, we propose a new density based virtual force (D-VF) multi-UAVs deployment algorithm which employs a mean opinion score (MOS) as a metric of QoE. Because MOS is based on signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), a sum of users' MOS is a good metric not only to secure a wide service area but to enhance the link quality between multi-UAVs and users. The proposed algorithm improves users' QoE by combining virtual forces with a random search force for the exploration of finding multi-UAVs' positions which maximize the sum of users' MOS. In simulation results, the proposed deployment algorithm shows the convergence of the multi-UAVs into the position of maximizing MOS. Therefore, the proposed algorithm outperforms the conventional virtual force-based deployment scheme in terms of QoE for non-uniform user distribution scenarios.

  • While ultra-high performance concrete (UHPC) is commonly reinforced with micro straight steel fibers in existing applications, studies have indicated that the use of deformed steel macro-fibers leads to enhanced ductility and post-peak responses for UHPC structural elements, which is of particular importance for earthquake-resistant structures. However, there are potential concerns regarding the use of UHPC reinforced with macro-fibers due to the issues of workability and fiber distribution. The objective of this study was to address these issues by extensively investigating the restricted and non-restricted deformability, filling ability, horizontal and vertical velocities, and passing ability of UHPC containing macro hooked-end steel fibers. A new approach is suggested to examine the homogeneity of fiber distribution in UHPC. The influences of ultra-fine fillers and steel macro-fibers on the workability of fresh UHPC and the mechanics of hardened UHPC were examined. It was found that although increasing the ratio of quartz powder to cement led to an improvement in the workability and tensile strain hardening behavior of UHPC, it reduced the fiber distribution homogeneity. The addition of 1% volume fraction of macro-fibers in UHPC improved workability, but reduced its compressive strength, which is contrary to the effect of micro-fiber inclusion in UHPC.

  • [ $Mg(OH)_2$ ]slurry was prepared by using natural mineral brucite exploited from Liaoning province in China, and its de-SOx efficiency was examined. The effect of difference in particle size distribution of brucite and activation by hydrothermal treatment were investigated. The de-$SO_2$ efficiency of a finely-milled brucite sample below 1000 mesh with narrow particle size distribution was higher than that of the sample below 80 mesh. On the other hand, the de-$SO_2$ efficiency of brucite sample below 80 meshes was significantly improved by the hydrothermal treatment at 363 K tor 3 h.

  • The objective of this study is to evaluate the effects of adding fibers to concrete and the distribution rate of the porosity on the interfacial stresses of the beams strengthened with various types of functionally graded porous (FGP) plate. Toward this goal, the beams strengthened with FGP plate were considered and subjected to uniform loading. Three types of beams are considered namely RC beam, RC beam reinforced with metal fibers (RCFM) and RC beam reinforced with Alfa fibers (RCFA). From an analytical development, shear and normal interfacial stresses along the length of the FGP plates were obtained. The accuracy and validity of the proposed theoretical formula are confirmed by the others theoretical results. The results showed clearly that adding fibers to concrete and the distribution rate of the porosity have significant influence on the interfacial stresses of the beams strengthened with FGP plates. Finally, parametric studies are carried out to demonstrate the effect of the mechanical properties and thickness variations of FGP plate, concrete and adhesive on interface debonding, we can conclude that, This research is helpful for the understanding on mechanical behavior of the interface and design of the FRP-RC hybrid structures.

  • This study analyzes pressure distribution and pressure drop in the receptacle used in charging system of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles. The objective is to minimize receptacle-induced pressure drop by redesigning internal flow channels. Through numerical simulations, three receptacle variants are compared with a baseline case. Results show reduced pressure drop in the filter section. However, the check valve section exhibits higher pressure drop, requiring further improvement. By increasing throat diameter, pressure drop is decreased by 28% between inlet and outlet of the receptacle. This study shows the relationship between dynamic pressure and pressure drop, providing a guideline for receptacle performance optimization. The redesigned receptacle offers potential for enhancing hydrogen charging efficiency.

  • A total of 64 individuals of Acanthogobius flavimanus, which inhabit the coast of Korea, were collected from 8 regions from July to August 2023. A haplotype network and a phylogenetic tree were created. The genomic DNA of the target fish species was compared and analyzed with the genomic DNA of four regions in Japan downloaded from the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI). In the haplotype network of Acanthogoboius flavimanus, Eocheong-do (EC) and Goseong (MAJ) exhibited low genetic similarity with other regions in Korea and Japan. The Phylogenetic tree showed that the population of MAJ exhibited differences in genetic structure compared to populations in other regions of Korea and Japan, indicating a distant relationship. Most marine organisms are known to migrate and spread via ocean currents, which is the most crucial factor promoting gene flow through larvae between populations. The haplotype of Acanthogobius flavimanus in MAJ differs from the haplotypes in Korea and Japan. The population in MAJ is believed to have limited genetic exchange due to the North Korea Cold Currents. We identified haplotype patterns based on the geographical distribution of Acanthogobius flavimanus off the coast of Korea and inferred that ocean currents have some influence on genetic distances.

  • People have been using more energy in the last years. Several research studies were conducted to develop sustainable energy sources that can produce clean energy to fulfill our energy requirements. Using renewable energy sources helps to decrease the harm to the environment caused by conventional power plants. Choosing the right location and capacity for DG-RESs can greatly impact the performance of Radial Distribution Systems. It is beneficial to have a good and stable electrical power supply with low energy waste and high effectiveness because it improves the performance and reliability of the system. This research investigates the ideal location and size for solar and wind power systems, which are popular methods for producing clean electricity. A new artificial intelligent algorithm called Nutcracker Optimization Algorithm (NOA) is used to find the best solution in two common electrical systems named IEEE 33 and 69 bus systems to examine the improvement in the efficiency & reliability of power system network by reducing power losses, making voltage deviation smaller, and improving voltage stability. Finally, the NOA method is compared with another method called PSO and developed Hybrid Algorithm (NOA+PSO) to validate the proposed algorithm effectiveness and enhancement of both efficiency and reliability aspects.
