Estimation for the Double Rayleigh Distribution Based on Multiply Type-II Censored Samples

  • In this paper, we derive the approximate maximum likelihood estimators of the scale parameter and the location parameter in a double Rayleigh distribution based on multiply Type-II censored samples. We compare the proposed estimators in the sense of the mean squared error for various censored samples.

Fault Analysis Method for Power Distribution Grid with PCS-based Distributed Energy Resources

  • In this study, we propose a fault analysis method for a power distribution grid with PCS-based DERs. We first explain the characteristics of a PCS-based DER. According to the characteristics, the DER is considered as a current-controlled voltage source, which produces varying voltages within a certain limit so that currents equal to given references flowing from the DER to the grid (currents controlled). So, we introduce the symmetrical equivalent models in the form of varying voltage source for fault analysis and then, construct a convex optimization problem to solve the fault problem associated with the equivalent models and grid conditions. Thus, the proposed method enables to perform a proper fault analysis considering the characteristics of the DER, which are currents controlled, voltage limited, and unity power factor achievement. To verify the validity of the proposed method, we perform computer simulations with the proposed method and with MATLAB Simulink, and the results are compared.

  • Herein, for the quantitative analysis of the arc beads related to electric fire, we used electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD), a measuring device for grain orientation of materials, we compared and analyzed the surface texture of primary and secondary beads according to the difference in cooling rate at ambient temperature. This analysis revealed that the primary beads showed similar distribution at both low and high angles, while the secondary beads showed a higher distribution at low angles than at high angles. Thus, EBSD can be used for quantitative analysis of the beads and can be applied to identify beads in the future.

  • Thermopile thermometer can measure the temperature of an object without attaching the object. It measures the temperature by receiving the radiation energy from objects. The idea of this is from the law of Stefan-Boltzmann. In the past it was not used well because the size was big and the cost was too expensive. But, In these days it can be used many field because the size become smaller and advantage of cost by using micro machine technology. However, The accuracy of measuring is not better than electric type. So we want to improve the accuracy of sensor by analyzing the heat transfer of the thermopile. To analyze temperature distribution in the thermopile sensor, we use the FEM software which is named ANSYS. The conduction and radiation heat transfer is considered to simulate the temperature distribution and time response inside of the sensor.

  • A stress-strength analysis is used to assess the reliability of a multi-pulse rocket motor system. Main stress is found to be thermal during explosion and the distribution is obtained by simulation. The strength distribution is derived from the results of actual specimen tests. The failure rate of barrier type pulse separation device is estimated.

  • Leaking of fuel gas in a building creates flammable atmosphere and gives rise to explosion. Observations from accidents suggest that some explosions are caused by quantity of gas significantly less than the lower explosion limit amount required to fill the whole confined space, which might be attributed to inhomogeneous mixing of the leaked gas. The minimum amount of leaked gas for explosion is highly dependent on the degree of mixing in the building. This paper proposes a method for estimating minimum amount of flammable gas for explosion assuming Gaussian distribution of flammable gas.

  • This paper proposes an expert system with improved heuristics in order to enhence convergence rate to the optimal solution when an emergence problem occurrs in the automated large scale distribution system. These heurictics, which a re obtained from the line loss and load balancing change after a line section transferred, are newly adopted for the emergence problem.

  • Slope is the geographic factor reflecting the 3-dimensional features of basin and it can be considered as the important geomorphological factor which governs the morphology of basin and the dynamics of water movement. In this study the approach to the 3-dimensional structures of basin is attempted with statistical analysis of local slope which can be defined and measured in easy and objective manner by means of DEM. As a result local slope is confirmed to be a highly variable spatial factor in basin. And distribution map of local slope based on spatial autocorrelation length in this study would be a useful tool in the further research of hydrology and geomorphology.

  • Recently, there are two big paradigm shifts in the global electric power industry. First, the maintenance practice is gradually moved from time-based activities to reliability-centered activities. On the other hand, asset management is emerging as a new framework to maximize the efficiency of investments. The two paradigms are mutually exclusive in natural. Thus the power utilities usually chose the investment alternative on the basis of reliability in the past. But today's changed business environment - competition -requires the power utilities to compromise the trade-off of reliability effects and economics of investments. This paper shows what and how to interpret the reliability effects of distribution system investments into financial indicators beneficial for power utilities's managers to make decision on the perspective of corporate value.

  • The introduction of the wholesalers system is being considered from various aspects in order to improve the problems of the listed auction system of wholesale corporations. The wholesalers system is a corporation that receives designation from the creator and purchases or consigns agricultural and fishery products to wholesale or broker sales, and has the advantage of reducing the distribution stage and distribution costs. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the wholesalers system introduced to improve the problems of the listed auction system of wholesale corporations through a case study of market wholesalers handling fishery products.
