The present study considers the usage of concentrated forces to simulate real panel flutter. The concept of using concentrated forces have been validated for studying the flutter of wing structure in subsonic flow, yet its application in the supersonic region remained to be explored. Hence, a simply supported panel subjected to forces, equivalent to aerodynamic force is considered for studying supersonic panel flutter. The distributed aerodynamic forces are approximated to few concentrated forces by taking numerical integration. The aeroelastic equation is formulated using the classical small-deflection theory and the piston theory for linear panel flutter whereas for emulated panel flutter the flutter equation is derived by replacing the pressure due to aerodynamic loading with pressure from concentrated loading. Finally, flutter frequency, flutter dynamic pressure, and corresponding mode shape are found for emulated panel flutter and compared with linear panel flutter. Two important parameters, the number of concentrated forces and their location are discussed through numerical examples and optimization process respectively. So far, the flutter results acquired in this study are reasonable to suggest the feasibility of reproducing panel flutter using concentrated forces.
To test the effectiveness of using an energy storage system for frequency regulation, the Energy New Business Laboratory at KEPCO Research Institute installed a 4 MW energy storage system (ESS) demonstration facility at the Jocheon Substation on Jeju Island. And after the successful completion of demonstration operations, a total of 52 MW ESS for frequency regulation was installed in Seo-Anseong (28 MW, governor-free control) and in Shin-Yongin (24 MW, automatic generation control). The control system used in these two sites was based on the control system developed for the 4 MW ESS demonstration facility. KEPCO recently finished the construction of 184 MW ESS for frequency regulation in 8 locations, (e.g. Shin-Gimjae substation, Shin-Gaeryong substation, etc.) and they are currently being tested for automatic operation. KEPCO plans to construct additional ESS facilities (up to a total of about 500 MW for frequency regulation by 2017), thus, various operational tests would first have to be conducted. The high-speed characteristic of ESS can negatively impact the power system in case the 500 MW ESS is not properly operated. At this stage we need to verify how effectively the 500 MW ESS can regulate frequency. In this paper, the effect of using ESS for frequency regulation on the power system of Korea was studied. Simulations were conducted to determine the effect of using a 524 MW ESS for frequency regulation. Models of the power grid and the ESS were developed to verify the performance of the operation system and its control system. When a high capacity power plant is tripped, a 24 MW ESS supplies power automatically and 4 units of 125MW ESS supply power manually. This study only focuses on transient state analysis. It was verified that 500 MW ESS can regulate system frequency faster and more effectively than conventional power plants. Also, it was verified that time-delayed high speed operations of multiple ESS facilities do not negatively impact power system operations. It is recommended that further testing be conducted for a fleet of multiple ESSs with different capacities distributed over multiple substations (e.g. 16, 24, 28, and 48 MW ESS distributed across 20 substations) because each ESS measures frequency individually. The operation of one ESS facility will differ from the other ESSs within the fleet, and may negatively impact the performance of the others. The following are also recommended: (a) studies wherein all ESSs should be operated in automatic mode; (b) studies on the improvement of individual ESS control; and (c) studies on the reapportionment of all ESS energies within the fleet.

The size-segregated atmospheric aerosols have been collected at 1100 m site of Mt. Halla in Jeju, a background area in Korea, using 8-stage cascade impact air sampler during Asian dust and non-Asian dust storm periods. Their ionic and elemental species were analyzed, in order to examine the pollution characteristics and composition change between Asian dust and non-Asian dust periods. The major ionic species such as nss-$SO_4{^{2-}}$, $NH_4{^+}$, and $K^+$ were predominantly distributed in the fine particles (below $2.1{\mu}m$ diameter), and besides the $NO_3{^-}$ was distributed more in coarse particle fraction than fine particle. On the other hand, the typical soil and marine species i.e., nss-$Ca^{2+}$, $Na^+$, $Cl^-$, and $Mg^{2+}$, were mostly existed in the coarse particles (over $2.1{\mu}m$ diameter). As well in the elemental analysis of aerosols, the major soil-originated Al, Fe, Ca, and others showed prominently high concentrations in the coarse particle fraction, whereas the anthropogenic S and Pb were relatively high in the fine particle fraction. From the comparison of aerosol compositions between Asian dust and non-Asian dust periods, the concentrations of the soil-originated species such as nss-$Ca^{2+}$, Al, Ca, Fe, Ti, Mn, Ba, Sr have increased as 2.7-4.2 times during the Asian dust periods. Meanwhile the concentrations of nss-$SO_4{^{2-}}$ and $NO_3{^-}$ have increased as 1.4 and 2.0 times, and on the contrary $NH_4{^+}$ concentrations have a little bit decreased during the Asian dust periods. Especially the concentrations of both soil-originated ionic and elemental species increased noticeably in the coarse particle mode during the dust storm periods.

In this paper, the quad-band antenna for mobile handsets is proposed and developed. The operating frequency bands include GSM(880 MHz${\~}$960 MHz), GPS(1,575 MHz$\pm$10 MHz), DCS(1,710 MHz${\~}$l,880MHz), and PCS(1,850 MHz${\~}$l,990 MHz). The proposed antenna consists of a feed line, a shorting post, and a radiating element of the feed loop. The multi-band operation is achieved by using the fundamental and higher resonant modes of the radiating element. Based on analysis of the current distribution on the radiator, the resonant frequency of each mode can be adjusted by adding the different sizes of slots on the radiator. The radiator of the feed loop is designed to be symmetrical so that the energy is symmetrically distributed on the radiator, which results in omni-directional radiation pattern. The ground plane under the radiator is removed in order to improve the bandwidth. The measured impedance bandwidths are $10.1\%$ in GSM band(VSWR<2.5), $26.8\%$ in GPS band, and DCS/US-PCS bands(VSWR<2.5), respectively. The maximum gains on the H-plane of the fabricated antenna are measured about -0.37 dBi${\~}$2.55 dBi for all operating frequency bands.
The eLoran system is considered the best alternative because the vulnerability of satellite navigation systems cannot be resolved as perfect. Thus, South Korea is in the process of establishing a testbed of the eLoran system in the West Sea. To provide resilient navigation services to all waters, additional eLoran transmitters are required. However, it is difficult to establish eLoran transmitters because of various practical reasons. Instead, the positioning with NDGNSS/AIS source can expand the coverage and its algorithm with applying continuous waves is under development. Using the already operating NDGNSS reference station and the AIS base station, it is possible to operate the navigation system with higher accuracy than before. Thus, it is crucial to predict the performance when each system is integrated. In this paper, we have developed a simulation tool that can predict the performance of terrestrial integrated navigation system using the eLoran system, maritime NDGNSS station and the AIS station. The esitmated phase error of the received signal is calculated with the Cramer-Rao Lower Bound factoring the transmission power and the atmospheric noise according to the transmission frequency distributed by the ITU. Additionally, the simulation results are more accurate by estimating the annual mean atmospheric noise of the 300 kHz signal through the DGPS signal information collected from the maritime NDGNSS station. This approach can further increase the reliability of simulation results.

The strength properties of wooden retaining wall which was made with pitch pine were evaluated. Wooden retaining wall was made with diameter 90 mm of pitch pine round posts treated with CUAZ-2 (Copper Azole). The length of the front stretcher of the retaining wall was 3,000 mm. The distance between the headers (the notched member) is 1,000 mm in center and is 900 mm in side. There were connections every 2,000 mm because actually the length of stretcher is limited in the retaining wall. The strength test was carried out according to connection type because the section between stretchers can act as a defect. A result of the strength test according to connection type confirms that connection does not act as defect because the strength of retaining wall in single stretcher is similar to that in the section between stretchers. The strength test of the wooden retaining wall was carried out in 5 types according to the condition of the base section. When the upper soil pressure was 9.8 kN/$m^2$, the maximum load of the retaining wall fixing the front foundation shows higher values than those of others. But the total deformation is lower in the retaining wall not to fix a base section than in that to fix a base section. It is thought that the retaining wall not to fix a base section shows low value because the deformation is distributed throughout the retaining wall and it is confirmed that the soil pressure affects supporting the structure because the deformation of the retaining wall under low pressure is 3~4 fold higher than those of others. The failure mode of the retaining wall is the overturning type because the high section is deformed. Mostly, the failure mode is the separation of the header in the notched section.
Recently the increased attention pays on the processing of multiple, relatively low quantity, high value-added products resulted in adoption of batch process in the chemical process industry such as pharmaceuticals, polymers, bio-chemicals and foods. As there are more possibilities of the improvement of operations in batch process than continuous processes, a lot of effort has been made to enhance the productivity and operability of batch processes. But the chemical process industry faces a range of uncertainties factors such as demands for products, prices of product, lead time for the supply of raw materials and in the production, and the distribution of product. And global competition has made it imperative for the process industries to manage their supply chains optimally. Supply chain management aims to integrate plants with their supplier and customers so that they can be managed as a single entity and coordinate all input/output flows (of materials, information) so that products are produced and distributed in the right quantities, to the right locations, and at the right time. The objective of this study is to solve the purchase, distribution, production planning and scheduling problem, which minimizes the total costs of production, inventory, and transportation under uncertainty. And development of SCM model in chemical industry including batch mode operations. Through that, the enterprise can respond to uncertainty. Also integrated process optimal planning and scheduling model for manufacturing supply chain. The result shows that, the advantage of supply chain integration are quality matters seen by customers and suppliers, order schedules, flexibility, cost reduction, and increase in sales and profits. Also, an integration of supply chain (production and distribution system) generates significant savings by trading off the costs associated with the whole, rather than minimizing supply chain costs separately.
We designed and fabricated the single mode fiber pigtailed DFB-LD module for 2.5 Gbps optical communication system. In the design of the DFB-LD module, we made the module divided into two parts of inner sub-module and outer 14-pin butterfly package and cylindrical shaped sub-module contain quasi confocal 2 lens system including optical isolator and electrical connection between these parts via hybrid substrate of bias T circuit. Laser welding was used to assemble the sub-module which requires accurate fixing between optical elements. The fabricated DFB-LD module showed optical coupling efficiency of 20% and - 3 dB small signal response of more than 2.6 GHz. We confirmed mechanical reliability of the module by temperature cycle test where the tested module exhibit optical power fluctuation of less than 10%. Finally we evaluated the performance of the fabricated DFB-LD module as light source of 2.5 Gbps optical communication system, sensitivity of - 30.2 dBm was obtained through 47 km optical fiber transmission under the criterion of $1\times10^{-10}$ BER and transmission penalties were 1.5 dB caused by extinction ratio and 1.0 dB caused by chromatic dispersion of normal single mode fiber. fiber.
In order to determine selective mode of action of naproanilide between rice and paddy weeds, absorption and translocation of $^{14}C$-naproanilide in rice, Echinochloa crus galli, Cyperus serotinus, and Sagittaria pygmaea were studied, Rice plant and Echinochloa crus-galli absorbed less amount of $^{14}C$-naproanilide than Sagittaria pygmaeo and Cyperus serotinus. Less amount of $^{14}C$-naproanilide was translocated into shoots and translocation rate was slower in rice and Ecl:inochloa crzis-galli than that of Sagittaria pygmaea and Cyperars serotinus. Also, 30-40% of $^{14}C$-naproanilide was distributed at tubers of Sagittaria pygmaea and Cyperus serotinus, which explained that higher amount of $^{14}C$-naproanilide was absorbed from tubers. $^{14}C$-naproanilide was gradually decreased in all plant species and finally more radioactivity was determined in Sagittaria pygmaea and Cyperus serotinus than in Echinochloa cars-galli and rice plant after $^{14}C$-naproanilide treated plants were transferred to Kasugai solution.

Three-dimensional nonlinear sloshing effects due to tank motions are simulated by solving boundary value problem using the panel method based on boundary integral technique. While Shinkai used boundary elements on which source strengths vary linearly between nodes, the source of constant strength is distributed on each triangular panel in the present study. The source strength at each time step is determined by solving the Fredholm integral equation of the second kind obtained from Green's theorem. To avoid cumulative numerical errors as time elapses, Adam-Bashforth-Moulton method is employed. Numerical examples for the case of partially filled spherical tank on board oscillating in harmonic sway mode or pitch mode are solved. The elevation of the free surface is compared with the result by Shinkai and confirmed in good agreement during early time. The input and the output energy are comparatively evaluated to check the overall accuracy of the present numerical scheme. Although some leakage of energy are found as time marches, it is plausible when we take into account nonlinearities of the problem and the number of panels of the model.
