  • Hydraulic pipeline between servo valve and actuator affect the dynamic characteristics of electrohydraulic servo systems in serveral ways. This paper deal with the speed control of oil hydraulic gear motor using electrohydraulic servo valve. The frequency and transient response of electrohydraulic servo valve coupled to a gear motor is anlayzed. In particular, the effect of short and long hydraulic pipelines between servo valve and gear motor is investigated. The dynamic characteristics of the speed control systems of gear motor with short pipeline is first described via frequency response experiments with small signal linearized analysis. Loner pipeline is applied distributed parameter pipeline model with consideration of frequency dependent viscous friction.

  • When surges and electromagnetic pulses from lightning or power conversion devices are considered, it is desirable to evaluate grounding system performance as grounding impedance. In the case of large-sized grounding electrodes or long counterpoises, the grounding impedance is increased with increasing the frequency of injected current. The grounding impedance is increased by the inductance of grounding electrodes. This paper presents the measured results of frequency-dependent grounding impedance and impedance phase as a function of the length of counterpoises. In order to analyze the frequency-dependent grounding impedance of the counterpoises, the frequency-dependent current dissipation rates were measured and simulated by the distributed parameter circuit model reflecting the frequency-dependent relative resistivity and permittivity of soil. As a result, the ground current dissipation rate is proportional to the soil resistivity near the counterpoises in a low frequency. On the other hand, the ground current dissipation near the injection point is increased as the frequency of injected current increases. Since the high frequency ground current cannot reach the far end of long counterpoise, the grounding impedance of long counterpoise approaches that of the short one in the high frequency. The results obtained from this work could be applied in design of grounding systems.

  • Among the various ground source heat pump systems, vertical-type heat pump systems have been distributed greatly. Most of the vertical-type ground source heat pump systems have been designed based on the Korean Ministry of Knowledge Economy Announcement in Korea. In this study, the design process of the vertical-type ground source heat pump system in the announcement was analyzed, and the effects of the design parameters on the ground loop heat exchanger were investigated. Borehole thermal conductivity was the highest dominant design parameter for ground loop heat exchangers. The borehole thermal conductivity was changed according to the pipe and grout thermal conductivity. For optimal design of the ground heat pump system, it is highly recommended that the design process in the announcement will be revised to adopt the various tubes and grout which have higher thermal conductivity. In addition, the certification standard for heat pump unit should be revised to develop the heat pump with a small flow rate.

  • The paper presents an analytical investigation of the unbalance vibrations of a pump rotor. The analysis applies to rotor-bearing-seal-impeller systems which consist of rigid disks, distributed parameter rotor elements and discreate bearings, seals, and impellers. The dynamic hydraulic force of bearing, seal and impeller elements are represented by four stiffness coefficients arid four damping coefficients. Numerical results are presented for unbalance response associated with various kinds bearing, and with effects of seal and impeller forces.

  • In this paper, the GPC algorithm is developed for ACS(advanced control system). ACS equals to DCS(distributed control system) with some advanced control algorithm, for example, fuzzy logic controller, autotuning. By its embedded structural control language, which uses simple function codes corresponding to each function blocks, it is possible to construct multiloop controller. The developed GPC function code is divided by RLS (recursive least square) parameter estimator and GPC controller. Simulation result show the availability of GPC function code using the control language.

  • A Class of nonlinear distributed parameter control problems is first stated in a partial differential equation form in multi-index notion and then converted into an integral equation form. Necessary conditions for optimality in the form of maximum principle are then derived in Sobolev space W$^{l}$, p/(1 leq. p .leq. .inf.)..

  • Internal damping plays an important role in some rotor dynamic systems with the use of various materials for shafts, for example, composite material. However, although the effects of internal damping have been investigated for a couple of decades, there are several different internal damping models in use, none of which are accepted as the most reliable model. The purpose of this paper is to compare the results of dynamic analysis of rotor systems with several different internal damping models. The exact dynamic element method is used to formulate and analyze the problem. The simulation results provided in this paper may be useful for the dynamic analysis of high rotor systems subject to significant internal damping.

  • The determination of soil characteristics is important in the simulation of rainfall runoff using a distributed FLO-2D model in catchment analysis. Digital maps acquired using remote sensing techniques have been widely used in modern hydrology. However, the determination of a representative parameter with spatial scaling mismatch is difficult. In this investigation, the FLO-2D rainfall-runoff model is utilized in the Yongdam catchment to test sensitivity based on three different methods (mosaic, arithmetic, and predominant) that describe soil surface characteristics in real systems. The results show that the mosaic method is costly, but provides a reasonably realistic description and exhibits superior performance compared to other methods in terms of both the amount and time to peak flow.
