A protocol HMNR, was proposed to utilize control information of every other process piggybacked on each sent message for minimizing the number of forced checkpoints. Then, an improved protocol, called Lazy-HMNR, was presented to lower the possibility of taking forced checkpoints incurred by the asymmetry between checkpointing frequencies of processes. Despite these two different minimization techniques, if the high message interaction traffic occurs, Lazy-HMNR may considerably lower the probability of knowing whether there occurs no Z-cycle due to its shortcomings. Also, we recognize that no previous work has smart procedures to be able to utilize network infrastructures for highly decreasing the number of forced checkpoints with dependency information carried on every application message. We introduce a novel Lazy-HMNR protocol for group communication-based distributed computing systems to cut back the number of forced checkpoints in a more effective manner. Our simulation outcomes showed that the proposed protocol may highly lessen the frequency of forced checkpoints by comparison to Lazy-HMNR.
Demand for the technology for access to device control network in industry and for access to building automation system via internet is on the increase. In such technology integration of a device control network with a data network such as internet and organizing wide-ranging DCS(distributed control system) is needed, and it can be realized in the framework of VDN(virtual device network). Specifications for device control network and data network are quite different because of the differences in application. So a router that translates the communication protocol between device control network and data network, and efficiently transmits information to destination is needed for implementation of the VDN(virtual device network). This paper proposes the concept of NCS(networked control system) based on VDN(virtual device network) and suggests the routing algorithm that uses embedded system.
A computer clock has limits in accuracy and precision affected by its inherent instability, the environment elements, the modification of users, and errors of the system. So the computer clock needs to be synchronized with a standard clock if the computer system requires the precise time processing. The purpose of synchronizing clocks is to provide a global time base throughout a distributed system. Once this time base exists, transactions among members of distributed system can be controlled based on time. This paper discusses the integrated approach to clock synchronization. An embedded system is considered for time synchronization based on the GPS(Global Positioning System) referenced time distribution model. The system uses GPS as standard reference time source and offers UTC(Universal Time Coordinated) through NTP(Network Time Protocol). A clock model is designed and adapted to keep stable time and to provide accurate standard time with precise resolution. Private MIB(Management Information Base) is defined for network management. Implementation results and performance analysis are also presented.

As the public Internet and private internet have grown from small networks into large infrastructures, the need to more systematically manage the large number of network components within these networks has grown more important as well. The rapid growth of network size has brought into question the salability of the existing centralized model, such as SNMP(Simple Network Management Protocol) and CMIP(Common Management Information Protocol). Thus, for efficient network management, researches about mobile agent have also been performed recently. This paper presents analytical models of centralized approach based on SNMP protocol, distributed approach based on mobile agent, and mixed mode to make up for shortcomings of SNMP and mobile agent. We compare the performance of these analytical models based on network management response time. Experiment results show that performance of mobile agent and the nixed mode is less sensitive to the delay in WAN network environment. However, SNMP is more efficient for the simple network environment like LAN. We also propose an adaptive network management algorithm in consideration of network t environment. delay, task, and the number of nodes based on the results of analytical models. The results show that the adaptive network management algorithm can reduce the network management response time by 10% compared with either mobile agent or mixed mode network management algorithm.
Recently, The TCN(Train Communication Network} as the distributed control systems for electric vehicles, which is the international standard of the intra vehicle communication, actively recognizes variations and supports reconfiguration of the train network when a vehicle is separated or recombined. The technique of reconfiguration to take variety and interoperability of a vehicle constitution is used when the vehicle constitution is changed. At the time, each node making up vehicle network shares the information about the variation of vehicle constitutions and the state of nodes. In the hierarchical TCN structure, an exchange of data becomes available as a work to transmit information between components is performed at the node playing a role of gateway. This paper proposes a protocol to transmit the information of the train reconfiguration. The protocol gives an application to renew a list for transmitting information and to perform the transmission that can guarantee periodic and non-periodic data transmission between nodes when the network nodes changed by a variation of the network state are reconfigured. If use this protocol, can use functions that are offered in the electric railcar at the same time that composition of vehicles is completed without delay. And when driver of the electric railcar inspect before running of vehicles, can confirm state of vehicles visually through monitor in driver's room.
In this paper, an interference aware distributed multi-channel MAC (IDMMAC) protocol is proposed for wireless sensor and actor networks (WSANs). The WSAN consists of a huge number of sensors and ample amount of actors. Hence, in the IDMMAC protocol a lightweight channel selection mechanism is proposed to enhance the sensor's lifetime. The IDMMAC protocol divides the beacon interval into two phases (i.e., the ad-hoc traffic indication message (ATIM) window phase and data transmission phase). When a sensor wants to transmit event information to the actor, it negotiates the maximum packet reception ratio (PRR) and the capacity channel in the ATIM window with its 1-hop sensors. The channel negotiation takes place via a control channel. To improve the packet delivery ratio of the IDMMAC protocol, each actor selects a backup cluster head (BCH) from its cluster members. The BCH is elected based on its residual energy and node degree. The BCH selection phase takes place whenever an actor wants to perform actions in the event area or it leaves the cluster to help a neighbor actor. Furthermore, an interference and throughput aware multi-channel MAC protocol is also proposed for actor-actor coordination. An actor selects a minimum interference and maximum throughput channel among the available channels to communicate with the destination actor. The performance of the proposed IDMMAC protocol is analyzed using standard network parameters, such as packet delivery ratio, end-to-end delay, and energy dissipation, in the network. The obtained simulation results indicate that the IDMMAC protocol performs well compared to the existing MAC protocols.
As many sensors and actuators are used in various automated systems, the application of network system to real-time distributed control is gaining acceptance in many industries. In order to take advantages of the network technique. however, network implementation should be carefully designed to satisfy real-time constraints and to consider network delays. This paper presents the implementation of feedback control system in Profibus-DP. Profibus-DP is a type of fieldbus protocols that are specifically designed to interconnect simple devices with fast I/O data exchange. As feedback control in profibus-DP is implemented, Network delays is found with influence of system performance. We analyze network delays in Profibus-DP into 3 reasons - dead time in Profibus interface, protocol delay, delay by asynchronization. In order to compensate the network delays, we introduce control algorithms with time delay concept. The results show that network delay can be compensated.
One of problems in industries is an installation for an automation system device such sensor, transducer, controller, and so on those are located in different areas. Such problem makes a difficulty for maintenance and installation. The aim of this research attempts to design a high performance controller with remote devices. One attractive is to group near devices in near place together to centralizes control. This paper presents network device groups distributed through digital and analog Remote Terminal Unit (RTUs). Such devices are centralized by computer or PLC control and communicated with similar protocol through serial bus. Our scheme, there are many advantages such as, saving both time and cost, convenience compared to other ways.

This paper applies WiMedia UWB network into a wireless ship area network (WSAN) so as to support high-quality multimedia services on board and reliable instrument control information as well, since the need for mixed high-quality video traffic and shipboard control data traffic is essential for a high-cost valued digital ship. Thus, in this paper, prioritized contention access (PCA) and distributed reservation protocol (DRP) based on WiMedia UWB (ECMA-368) MAC protocols are combined and proposed to such mixed traffic environment, by varying the portions of superframe according to traffic type. It is shown that the proposed WiMedia UWB MAC protocol can provide reliable mixed video and shipboard control data traffic as well.
Due to the popularity of mobile phones, Peer-to-Peer (P2P) content sharing in mobile phones is highly desirable, especially in a mobile data connection. In addition, there has been an increasing demand for content sharing applications for P2P communication in Android-based smartphones as ubiquitous mobile devices. However, due to wireless network limits, unstable characteristic and restricted storage space, mobile users confront challenges in establishing connections and sharing video frames with other users. To solve this issue, we propose an architectural design and implementation of key frame sharing application that uses Chord, a distributed lookup protocol to establish a content sharing platform for mobile devices, combined with the Chord SDK based on Android. Our proposed system enables users easily to share key information on video data in real-time over a wireless network without manual processing of devices which join or leave the group and cost associated with the 3G/4G network.
