  • Location management is very important in location-based services to provide services to the mobile users like banking, city guides and many more. Ubiquitous and mobile devices are the source of data in location management and its significant operations are update and search method. Some studies to improve these were presented by using optimal sequential paging, location area scheme and hierarchical database scheme. In addition, not all location services have the same access methods on data and it lead to difficulties of providing services. A proposed location management of multi-agent architecture is presented in this study. It shows the coordination of the agents on the distributed database of location-based services. The proposal focuses on the location management of the mobile object presented in a hierarchical search and update. Also, it uses a nearest neighbor technique for efficient search method of mobile objects.

  • One of the main chalenges in personal communication services (PCS) is to locate many mobile terminals that may move frequently from place to place. Such a system operation is called location management. Many network signaling traffic, and database queries are required to achieve such a task. Several strategies have been proposed to improve the efficiency of location management. These strategies use location register databases to store the current location on mobile terminals, and are vulnerable to failure of the location registers. In this paper, we propose a fault-tolerant pointer forwarding with distributed home location register (FT-RFDHLR) to tolerate the failure of location registers. The performance of the proposed method is evaluated by an analytical model, and is compared with thew pointer forwarding with the single home location register (PFSHLR), the pointer forwarding with distributed home location register (PFDHLR), Biaz's bypass forwarding strategy (BFS) and two-path forwarding strategy (TPFS).

  • An important issue in the design of future Personal Communication Service (PCS) networks is the efficient management of location information. In this paper, we propose an adaptive distributed dynamic location management algorithm that stores the position of the mobile terminal in k of the n location information databases (LIDs). The proposed algorithm chooses adaptively k. replication factor according to both the space locality of LIDs in wireless mobile networks and the location query popularity to local mobile terminal from remote mobile terminals. The performance of proposed algorithm is evaluated by both an analytical model and a simulation. Based on the results of performance evaluation, we know that the performance of the proposed algorithm is better than that of Krishnamurthi's algorithm regardless of call-mobility ratio.

  • In this paper we propose a distributed location management scheme to reduce the bottleneck problem of HLR in Large Mobile Networks (LMN). Using analytical modeling and numerical simulation, we show that replicating location information is both appropriate and efficient for small mobile networks. Then, we extend the scheme in a hierarchical environment to reduce the overhead traffic and scale to LMN. In numerical results, we show the superiority of our scheme compared to the current IS-95 standard scheme in IMT-2000 networks.

  • Recently, owing to performance elevation of telecommunication technology, increase of wireless internet's subscriber and diffusion of wireless device, Interest about LBS (Location Based Service) which take advantage of user's location information and can receive information in concerning with user's location is increasing rapidly. So, MOMS (Moving Object Management System) that manage user's location information is required compulsorily to provide location base service. LBS of childhood such as service to find a friend need only current location, but to provide high-quality service in connection with Data Mining, CRM, We must be able to manage location information of past. In this paper, we design distributed manage system to insert and search Moving Object in a large amount. It has been consisted of CLIM (Current Location Information Manager), PLIM (Past-Location Information Manager) and BLIM (Distributed Location Information Manager). CLIM and PLIM prove performance of searching data by using spatiotemporal-index. DLIM distribute an enormous amount of location data to various database. Thus it keeps load-balance, regulates overload and manage a huge number of location information efficiently.

  • Mobility management technology is one among the most important issues in future mobile communication systems. The mobility management technology includes location management and handoff technologies. In this paper, we present a hierarchical distributed dynamic location management scheme that is compatible with the IMT-2000 environment. The proposed scheme composes a cluster with location registers, then makes up a hierarchical structures consisting of clusters. Each layer in the hierarchical structure uses different location management strategies cooperating another layers with each other. Also, the proposed scheme uses location update algorithm considering the frequency of location queries from nodes outside the local cells. We evaluate the performance of the proposed scheme through an analytical model.

  • The technology development of MANET and dissemination of P2P services has been made very widely. In particular, the development of many application services for the integration of P2P services in MANET has been made actively. P2P networks are commonly used because of the advantages of efficient use of network bandwidth and rapid information exchange. In P2P network, the infrastructure managing each node in the middle does not exist and each node is a structure playing a role as the sender and receiver. Such a structure is very similar to the structure of the MANET. However, it is difficult to provide reliable P2P service due to the high mobility of mobile nodes. In this paper, we propose location-based routing technique in order to provide efficient file sharing and management between nodes. GMN managing the group is elected after network is configured to the area of a certain size. Each node is assigned an identifier of 12 bit dynamically to provide routing which uses location information to the identifier. ZGT is managed in the GMN in order to provide management of group nodes and distributed cache information. The distributed cache technique is applied to provide a rapid retrieval of the sharing files in the each node. The excellent performance of the proposed technique was confirmed through experiments.

  • This paper discusses some problems of the TMN-based architecture of integrated network management systems and presents a CORBA-based architecture of distributed network management system with reliability, which maintains location transparency of distributed managed objects and provides an interoperability among heterogeneous networks and systems. In this paper, the proposed distributed management system model has been applied to the TMN based management systems and then considered for qualitative evaluation of system performance. Two different types of implementation models have been proposed: one is a system using a CORBA gateway and the other is a pure CORBA system, which maps all managed objects into CORBA objects. The characteristics of two system model have been compared in the respect of system implementation
