Influence of several experimental parameters (e.g., initial dye concentration, pH, distance between electrodes, applied voltage, electrical conductivity, current density, and reaction time) on the performance of electrocoagulation (EC) process for the removal of acid blue 25 (AB25) was studied. A bipolar batch reactor was used to test the impact of the parameters. The removal efficiency (RE) of AB25 dye was promoted by increasing the contact time, voltage, electrical conductivity, and applied current density. In contrast, RE of AB25 decreased with higher level of AB25 and the longer distance between electrodes. The removal efficiency increased consistently until pH 7, but decreased above pH 7. The maximum efficiency of AB25 removal above 90% was obtained at a voltage of 60 V, reaction time of 90 min, distance between electrodes of 0.5 cm, initial concentration of 25 mg/L, conductivity of 3,000 μS/cm and pH of 7. These results imply that the high RE of AB25 dye from the aqueous solution can be achieved by EC process.
We report on electrochemical signal amplification using gap electrodes based on the redox cycling between gap electrodes. The distance between electrodes was controlled from $2{\mu}m$ to a few hundreds of nanometer by chemical deposition of reduced Au ion on the pre-defined electrodes. Enhanced redox current of ferri/ferrocyanide was obtained by redox cycling between the two working electrodes. The faradaic current is amplified about a thousand times in this redox system. Since the signal amplification is due to the shortened diffusion length between the two electrodes, the narrower the nanogap was, the better detection limit, calibration sensitivity, and dynamic range. The experimental results were discussed on the basis of the cyclic voltammetry (CV), atomic force microscope (AFM) and scanning electron microscope (SEM) measurements.

For measurement of dielectric constants, the commercial parallel plate electrodes system with guard-ring electrode have been widely used up to now. The capacitance derived from the parallel plate electrodes capacitor with guard-ring electrode is calculated by the equation of ($C={\epsilon}\;{\cdot}\;\frac{area\;of\;electrod}{distance\;between\;electrodes}$). Therefore, in parallel plate electrode capacitor, the diameter of the guarded electrode, the gap size between guarded electrode and guard ring, and distance between two active electrode should be measured precisely to calculate dielectric constants from the measured capacitance. Consequently their mechanical measurement uncertainties are directly contributed. Especially the air-gap between the electrodes and dielectric specimen at the system must be existed and the measurement error derived from the air-gap is impossible to evaluate as measurement uncertainties. In this study, we analyze the uncertainty of the commercial dielectric constant test cell using 3 kinds CRMs.
To treat livestock wastewater effectively by electrochemical method using a stainless steel electrode or au aluminum electrode, the effects of voltage, distance of electrodes and PACS(Poly Aluminum Chloride Silicate) dosage on removals of pollutants in batch experiment for investigation the optimum treatment conditions of livestock wastewater were investigated. The results were summarized as follows ; On the effect of voltage, temperature and pH in electrochemical reactor were increased with increase in voltage but EC was a reverse in both electrodes. Removals of COD and T-N were increased with increase in voltage in both electrodes. SS removal was greater than 90% regardless of voltage without doing electrochemical reaction over 15min at 20V or 12min at 30V in both electrodes. T-P removal was over 90% regardless of voltage in both electrodes. On the effect of distance between two electrodes, removals of COD, T-N and T-P were increased with closeness in distance between two electrodes, and SS removal was greeter than 90% regardless of distance between two electrodes in both electrodes. On the effect of PACS dosage, removals of COD, T-N and T-P were increased with increased in PACS dosage up to 200㎎/l in both electrodes. SS removal was greater than 90% regardless of PACS dosage in both electrodes.
This paper presents the potential interferences in various grounding electrode systems. The ground potential rise and potential interference coefficients were calculated as a function of the configuration and size of grounding electrodes and the distance between grounding electrodes. The potential rise and potential interference coefficient strongly depend on the distance between grounding electrodes, the shape and size of grounding electrodes.

The V-I characteristics of low pressure discharges occurring between each of three kinds of anode and a fixed hot cathode in several bi-cusp magnetic fields are investigated. The results are different from those in non-magnetic fields as follows` First, both breakdown and maintaining potentials of low pressure discharges in the fields are rather depend on the arrangement of the directions of magnetic lines of force and the directions between two electrodes than on the distance between two electrodes or the size of the electrodes. Second, the maintaining potentials of the discharges in the fields are lower than those in the non-fields, and the electrical conductivity in the fields are better than those in the non-fields. Third, the breakdown potertials in the fields when the direction of magnetic lines of force is perpendicular with the direction of discharging path between two electrodes are higher than those when the two directions are parallel with each other. But the maintaining patentials in the fields are shown the contrary phenomena with before. This results are particularily conspicuous as the separatrix of the fields pass across the discharging path between two electrodes.
Stearic acid LB films was deposited by LB technique. The deposition status of LB films were verified by UV absorbance which was increased in proportion to the number of layers. And, I-V characteristics were measured to investigate the response properties between LB films and organic gases using the distance of electrodes. The current was increased with the applied voltage but decreased as increasing the distance of electrodes. The conductivity of stearic acid LB films using the distance of electrodes was $10^{-8}$[S/cm], which corresponds to that of the semiconductor.

Variety of tunnel ahead prediction methods have been performed for safe tunnel construction during tunnel excavation. Pole-pole array among the electrical resistivity survey, which is one of the tunnel ahead prediction method, has been utilized to predict water-bearing sediments or weak zone located within 5 times of tunnel diameter. One of the most important processes is the estimation of virgin ground resistivity and it can be obtained from the following process: 1) calculation of contact area between the electrodes and the medium, and 2) assumption of the electrodes as equivalent spherical electrodes which have a same surface area with the electrodes. This assumption is valid in a small contact area and sufficient distance between the electrodes. Since the measured resistance, in general, varies with the electrode size, shape, and distance between the electrodes, it is necessary to evaluate the influence of these factors. In this study, theoretical equations were derived and experimental tests were conducted considering the electrode size, shape, and distance of cylindrical electrodes which is the most commonly utilized electrode shape. Through this theoretical and experimental study, it is known that one should be careful to use the assumption of the equivalent half-spherical electrode with large ratio between the penetrated depth and radius of the cylindrical electrode, as the error may get larger.

In this paper, we showed the erosion characteristic of MgO protector layer releated to lifetime of plasma display panel(PDP). We observed MgO erosion characteristic as a functions of deposition conditions, pressure and distance between electrodes. In RIE condition of Xe gas, the lowest erosion rate appears in the conditions of no heating bias voltage -30V and pressure 5mtorr. In general, as deposition rate increases, erosion rate decreases. In real panel, when the gap distance between electrodes is narrow and the pressure is low, the heavy plasma damage appears. Also, the surfaces between electrodes and on the bus electrode are extremely damaged.

Non-contacting capacitive sensor based on Thompson-Lampard theorem have been fabricated and characterized for measuring of 때 order displacements. To overcome disadvantages of the existed capacitive sensors of parallel plate type with 2-electrodes and 3-electrodes, the developed new sensor was designed to have 4-electrodes with a constant gap of 0.2mm between the electrodes. Two of the electrodes were used as a high potential electrode and a low one, the other two electrodes were used as guard electrodes. These electrodes were made from copper using RF sputtering system on a sapphire plate with diameter 17 mm and thickness 0.7 mm. This sensor can be used for measuring the distance not only between the sensor and metallic target connected to ground potential but also non-metallic target without ground connection.
