An Analysis of LMS Functions for Improving the Quality of Distance Education Training (원격교원연수 질 제고를 위한 학습관리시스템 기능 분석 연구)

  • As of December 2013, 63 distance education training centers has been operating in the form of private, university affiliated and national/public centers. LMS is related to distance training quality as the system because distance education training centers are managing training by using LMS. In this paper, LMS functions of distance education training centers were analyzed to enhance the quality of distance training. In results of the analysis, it is showed 70.07%, 72.09% and 70.41% that implementation ratio of necessary LMS functions for trainee, manager and tutor. Functions of the lowest implementation ratio were "training support" of trainee mode, "statistics management" of manager mode and "communication" of tutor mode. The results of this paper will be helped to improve LMS for effective distance training of distance education training centers.

  • Even though the distance education via web has a great advantage to overcome time and space, its problem is that the management of trainees is not efficient compared with classroom and group education. This problem is a great obstacle to the objects and achievement standards of distance education, giving controversial arguments to the advocators of distance education. Distance educators need to monitor the trainees'participation and responses continuously and offer appropriate feedback to the trainees. However, the existing distance education system only focuses on teaching and learning activities, and as a result, the efficient management function of distance education is not available. Accordingly, the study attempts to find out the appropriate managing elements of distance teacher training in order to effectively achieve the goals of teacher training and the efficient management of distance education. Also, it proposes distance teacher training management system that offers appropriate feedback to trainees, applying the derived elements of distance teacher training to the training processes. To verify the efficiency of the system, hypotheses on related items of distance teacher education and learning types are suggested, and the achievement degree of learning and its relations are investigated through questionnaire of learning types. In addition, a system using UML which is the standard of object-oriented modeling language is devised, so. that mutual management, language independence and convenient development environment as well as reusability can be offered, and so the design standardization and efficient system realization could be achieved, while flexible change of system according to education process and computing environment is possible.

  • Distance teacher training is on the increase raplidly because of its merit. But distance teacher training's weak points with its quantitative increasement has been proposed. Especially many study said commonly that distance tearcher training has weak points for contents, teaching method, evaluation method. So in this study, we will develop the teaching method of distance teacher training to solve weak points of distance teacher training with microteaching, cognitive apprenticeship model, teacher evaluation method. We think this teaching method will improve a teacher's teaching ability.

  • Nowadays, there is need to teachers' in service education, beacuse of growing knowledge and information that teachers should know. So, Distance Teacher Training was widely spread. Nevertheless, inspite of strong point of Distance Teacher Training, there are some ploblems(interaction, evaluation, lecuterer, teaching material, etc). In order to solve this ploblems, we, in this article, explor some Distance Teacher Training Model and we show 8 factors that should considered when we develop Distance Teacher Training Model in the future. This factors should be a good guidance to develop distance teacher training model

Long Distance Face Recognition System using the Automatic Face Image Creation by Distance (거리별 얼굴영상 자동 생성 방법을 이용한 원거리 얼굴인식 시스템)

  • This paper suggests an LDA-based long distance face recognition algorithm for intelligent surveillance system. The existing face recognition algorithm using single distance face image as training images caused a problem that face recognition rate is decreased with increasing distance. The face recognition algorithm using face images by actual distance as training images showed good performance. However, this also causes user inconvenience as it requires the user to move one to five meters in person to acquire face images for initial user registration. In this paper, proposed method is used for training images by using single distance face image to automatically create face images by various distances. The test result showed that the proposed face recognition technique generated better performance by average 16.3% in short distance and 18.0% in long distance than the technique using the existing single distance face image as training. When it was compared with the technique that used face images by distance as training, the performance fell 4.3% on average at a close distance and remained the same at a long distance.

  • When it comes to the training program conducted by company to improve job performance ability, it would be not a investment but a waste if the training contents is not practically applied to the business accomplishment. Even though some people raise a question on the job application of postal distance training, funded by employment insurance, the study on the job application of postal distance training shows that the components of the training program have a positive effect on it and the model has 60.5% validity. Moreover, its control effect on environmental support and individual characteristics has been partially established. The study has been conducted by questioning survey with the employees who completed a postal education 3 months ago. With the result, we can find that the postal distance training benefits employees to improve their job performance abilities and expect that it continuously plays a crucial role in the field of company training through the development of high-quality training programs.

  • Korea has introduced the levy-grand system in the vocational learning finance. The standard unit price system of training cost was utilized in the distribution of training budget and the reimbursement system including total or partial training cost return has been operated in the corporate training after completing the learning course particularly. The standard unit price was calculated in the base of analyzing on supporting budget by the government per training institutions and corporate payment decision to learning institutions. The proposing standard unit price system of training cost was analyzed in the current standard price unit of training cost and then an improvement policy and the implication are derived from it. At the result of this study, the current government supporting level to e-learning and postal distance learning indicates good status.

The Long Distance Face Recognition using Multiple Distance Face Images Acquired from a Zoom Camera (줌 카메라를 통해 획득된 거리별 얼굴 영상을 이용한 원거리 얼굴 인식 기술)

  • User recognition technology, which identifies or verifies a certain individual is absolutely essential under robotic environments for intelligent services. The conventional face recognition algorithm using single distance face image as training images has a problem that face recognition rate decreases as distance increases. The face recognition algorithm using face images by actual distance as training images shows good performance but this has a problem that it requires user cooperation. This paper proposes the LDA-based long distance face recognition method which uses multiple distance face images from a zoom camera for training face images. The proposed face recognition technique generated better performance by average 7.8% than the technique using the existing single distance face image as training. Compared with the technique that used face images by distance as training, the performance fell average 8.0%. However, the proposed method has a strength that it spends less time and requires less cooperation to users when taking face images.

Effect of Weight Ball Throw Training on Weight Shifting of Lower Body, Head Speed of Club, and Driving Distance of Amateur Golfers

  • PURPOSE: To determine the effect of weight ball throw training as a preparatory exercise before golf practice for 8 weeks on back muscle strength, weight shifting of lower body, head speed of club, and driving distance of amateur golfers. METHODS: A total of 18 subjects were randomly assigned to the experimental group (n=9) and the control group (n=9), respectively. For the experimental group, Weight ball throw training was provided to the height of waist and shoulder similar to golf swing with the following schedule: 3 kg weight ball throw training from the first week to the 4th week; 5 kg weight ball throw training from the 5th week to the 8th week. Before and after 8 weeks of training, back muscle strength, weight shifting of lower body, head speed of club, and driving distance of subjects in the two groups were measured. RESULTS: The experimental group showed significant differences in rotational back extension torque, weight shifting of lower body, head speed of club, and driving distance during golf swing (p<.05). However, the control group only showed significant difference in driving distance during golf swing (p<.05). Back extension torque, weight shifting of lower body, and head speed of club showed significant differences between the two groups during golf swing (p<.05). CONCLUSION: Weight ball throw training can positively change rotational back muscle strength, weight shifting of lower body, head speed of club, and driving distance of amateur golfers. Therefore, it might be used as an effective warming up exercise for amateur golfers.
