  • In viewpoint of visual merchandising, display is recognized as important means of expressing fashion as well as essential factor of stimulating customers' interest in purchase. However, visual merchandising Is relatively new area and the number of specialized display personnels are limited Therefore, the purpose of this study was to investigate the practice of display in domestic fashion industry. For this study the display personnels working in 51 fashion brands were interviewed. The result was analyzed by using frequency count and percentage. It was found that few human resources were undertaking display work in various and abundant stores with relatively frequent display replacement. And main part of display work was performed outside office hours which brought out extension of working tome. Comparatively more budget assigned for ladies 'brand than mens' brand, youngsters 'than middle-ages' and obtaining display-related information was belong done mostly via domestic documentary sources and market researches. In general, optimistic attitudes were significantly shown by the interviewees that the importance of display is increasingly recognized, in the domestic fashion industry and therefore the prospect of display found to be expected as prosperous.

  • In viewpoint of visual merchandising, display is recognized as important means of expressing fashion as well as essential factor of stimulating customers' interest in purchase. However, visual merchandising is relatively new area and the studies on specialized display personnels are limited. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to investigate the status and educational background of displayers in domestic fashion industry. For this study, 72 display personnels working in 51 fashion brands were interviewed. As results, it was found that most of displayers were consisted of single women in the late twenties. And the main part of display work was performed outside office hours which brought out extension of working time. The displayers had relatively high educational background graduated mostly from the majors related to display such as clothing and applied arts. However, it was noted that new curriculum of these majors needs to be developed in order to provide the courses with more on-hand practices. In general, optimistic attitudes were significantly shown by the interviewees that the importance of display is increasingly recognized in the domestic fashion industry and therefore the prospect of display found to be expected as prosperous.

  • Laser material processing technology is adopted in several industry as alternative process which could overcome weakness and problems of present adopted process, especially semiconductor and display industry. In semiconductor industry, laser photo lithography is doing at front-end level, and cutting, drilling, and marking technology for both wafer and EMC mold package is adopted. Laser cleaning and de-flashing are new rising technology. There are 3 kinds of main display industry which use laser technology - TFT LCD, AMOLED, Touch screen. Laser glass cutting, laser marking, laser direct patterning, laser annealing, laser repairing, laser frit sealing are major application in display industry.

  • The TFT-LCD industry has shown dramatic growth by making technological advances and satisfying consumer needs. It now stands at the heart of the display industry. However, the TFT-LCD market is maturing and is unlikely to sustain the fast pace of growth in years to come. There has been an oversupply in the LCD sector entering 2008 due to capacity expansion aimed at fueling growth coupled with softening demand amid the global economic slowdown and recent financial turmoil. The LCD industry has successfully coped with oversupply on several occasions. Each time, LCD makers faced up to the challenge and responded with a pioneering spirit. They continued to grow by turning crisis into opportunity. LG Display aims to create new markets by developing products based on innovative technology and providing more attractive products through a value-added product planning that incorporates consumer needs. Through a continuous cost innovation targeted at stimulating demand by making products more economical to consumers, we will be at the forefront of overcoming the current oversupply and sustaining robust growth for the TFT-LCD industry. Depending on our management of the situation, the current oversupply could prove to be an opportunity to create even bigger markets for the future.

  • Electronic displays have developed as instruments that function as windows of information to satisfy the bidirectional needs of electronic device manufacturers and users. The cathode-ray tube (CRT) display once dominated the display industry. Now, the liquid crystal display (LCD) is dominant, and promising displays are competing to become the next-generation display. Displays reflect the characteristics of the information and communication technology (ICT) industries, such as technological changes, innovative features, and competitive dynamics, and have technologically evolved to dominate the industry and market through various ICT devices. This research utilizes a dominant design concept and examines the case of the flat-panel display industry to propose a comprehensive framework, which considers technological, organizational, and environmental characteristics, of the determinants influencing dominance in the technology-intensive ICT industry. The results show that a dominant design in the flat-panel display industry emerges from technological competition among several designs, based on technological characteristics and market acceptance, and dominates the industry and market by various environmental factors. Our results emphasize the difference between generic technologies and the speed of technological innovation and expand the understanding of the emergence of a dominant design. Furthermore, this paper suggests practical implications for establishing a competition strategy and strategic guidance for other ICT industries as well as the display industry.

  • Even though the TFT-LCD industry gained enough momentum that has been built up in past 10 years, the industry faces new challenges in order to maintain the 'true mainstream display' position in near future. The technical challenges can be summarized in two fold; one is image quality upgrade for different application area. Cost competitiveness is the other big issue in LCD for the continued leadership position in display industry. In this paper, we describe the technology advancement and the technical challenges in LCD to achieve these goals..

  • In the display industry, the residual vibration of the transfer robot can increase the process time and cause the breakage of the glass substrate, which is critical to productivity of display manufacturing. In this paper, the natural frequencies of transfer robot are analyzed by finite element method. On the basis of the analyzed data, we investigated the response characteristics of input shaping control with or without the glass presence on the hand of the transfer robot using MATLAB program, and compared with the current response characteristics of input shaping control applied to the industry. Based on this, we suggest an optimal residual vibration control method for the practical application in display industry.

  • Inkjet printing is a typical printing technology with many advantages, such as material cost reduction, noncontact pattern formation without a mask, and process simplification. With the recent and rapid development of ink materials, parts and equipment, and process technologies related to inkjet printing, it is becoming a major process in various areas of the display industry. In particular, for the QD-OLED (quantum dot-organic light-emitting diode) display announced by Samsung Display in 2022, quantum dot pixel production by applying inkjet printing is a key technology. We analyze inkjet printing technology for mass production applied to the display industry and discuss the technology development trends in academia and industry toward the realization of next-generation displays.

  • Eye Glass Display (EGD) with microdisplay to realize the virtual display can make the large screen, so virtual image has been developed by using microdisplay panel. This paper shows study of low cost lens design and simulation for microdisplay system with 0.6"LCoS panel. Lens design optimized consider to spherical aberration, astigmatism, distortion, and chromatic aberration. Code V is used and it designed an aspheric lens about exit pupil 6mm, eye relief 20mm and 35 degree of field of view (FOV). With the application this aspheric lens to liquid crystal on silicon (LCOS) type's microdisplay, virtual image showed 50 inch at 2m. One side of the aspheric lens was constituted from diffractive optical element (DOE) for the improvement in a performance. It had less than 2.5% of distortion value and modulation transfer function in axial had 20% of resolution with 32 lp/mm spatial frequency. The optical system is suitable for display of 15.6 mm-diagonal with SVGA.
