  • New type simple, thin and flexible display unit with an exchangeable image-sheet coupled with a thin film light waveguide illuminated by color LEDs is proposed It displays the still picture like an e-paper, and the imagesheet with grooves formed by the PC and the cutting plotter can be easily replaced by another one.

  • The panels were fabricated to characterize the contamination of Magnesium Oxide (MgO) thin films by phosphors and ion bombardments in AC-PDPs. Forty-six inch WVGA panels of the surface and vertical discharge type were manufactured. The experiment was designed to investigate the relationship between the MgO thin films and phosphor contamination caused by ion bombardments in a plasma environment to produce a life time test. The contamination of MgO thin films by phosphors was investigated by way of X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS).

  • We have developed the active matrix OLED displays with a high efficiency red emission material which uses an emitting assist (EA) dopant system. The EA dopant (rubrene) did not itself emit but assisted the energy transfer from the host ($Alq_s$) to the red emitting dopant(DCM2). A stable red emission (chromaticity coordinates: x=0.64, y=0.36) was obtained in this cell within the luminance range of 100 - 4000 $cd/m^2$ By using EA dopant system, we can realize the reduction of the power consumption of the OLED display..

Design and Analysis of Diffractive Grating Imprinted Light-guide Plate for LCD Illumination

  • A highly simplified backlight unit mainly composed of diffractive grating in sub-micron order imprinted light-guide plate (LGP) is proposed for edge-lit backlight unit. Optical characteristics of the imprinted LGP are examined by RCWA and the performance is verified through Monte Carlo simulation. Results show that the diffraction efficiency, luminous flux and its uniformity over the area are significantly affected by the angle of incident ray. Consequently couples of design considerations are additionally proposed to enhance luminous flux. In terms of peak luminance and out-coupling luminous flux, the experimental results are agreed well with the performance simulation. Finally, compared with optical characteristics of conventional backlight unit, we could conclude that the proposed simplified backlight unit made of diffractive grating imprinted light-guide plate is a good substitute for the conventional backlight unit.

  • Display Unit(DU) of TCMS is very useful device display many data for operation and maintenance graphically. At This Time, rolling stock is reducing the wiring and size of desk for cutting down on their cost and making light weight. Dual Du(Display Unit) of TCMS could make the desk of cab simply by integrating cab's switches and gauges. Dual DU is not only can reduce the wiring and simplify desk of cab but also can making system of TCMS reliable by including backup function each other. For this reason. In this paper, advantages, application and example analysis of Dual DU of TCMS for rolling stock are described through the ongoing projects.

  • This paper designs a CDU(Control Disaply Unit) for commercial high precision INS(Inertial Navigation System). The CDU is designed using GUI(Graphic User Interface) programming running on Windows operating system. Since the designed CDU provides standard functions of the Windows operating systems and has a modular structure, it is easy to modify and extend. The CDU has been interfaced to the H-726 INS, from which it's usefulness can be seen.

  • The effects of plasma damages to the organic thin film transistor (OTFT) during the fabrication process are investigated; metal deposition process on the organic gate insulator by plasma sputtering mainly generates the process induced damages of bottom contact structured OTFTs. For this study, various deposition methods (thermal evaporation, plasma sputtering, and neutral beam based sputtering) and metals (gold and Indium-Tin Oxide) have been tested for their damage effects onto the Poly 4-vinylphenol(PVP) layer surface as an organic gate insulator. The surface damages are estimated by measuring surface energies and grain shapes of organic semiconductor on the gate insulator. Unlike thermal evaporation and neutral beam based sputtering, conventional plasma sputtering process induces serious damages onto the organic surface as increasing surface energy, decreasing grain sizes, and degrading TFT performance.

픽셀 배치가 자유로운 임베디드 LED 전광판 모듈 및 제어장치 설계 (A Design of Embedded LED Display Board Module and Control Unit which the Placement of Pixels is Free)

  • 본 논문에서는 적색, 녹색, 청색의 세 가지 고휘도 LED를 하나의 소켓에 설치하여, 하나의 화소체 단위를 만들고, 이 화소체들의 조합과 다수 모듈들의 조합으로 문자, 그래픽, 동영상 등의 다양한 영상을 표출할 수 있는 풀컬러 전광판 모듈 및 제어장치를 개발하였다. LED 전광판 드라이버 모듈은 일정한 단위 면적에 RGB 픽셀을 조합한 도트에 드라이버 회로가 내장된다. 기존의 이러한 모듈형태는 특정 공간 및 설치 공간에 고정된 해상도를 구현하므로 가격이 높게 책정될 수 있다. 이러한 단점을 극복하기 위하여 임의의 피치 간격으로 배열이 자유로운 LED 드라이버 및 이에 따른 LED 픽셀 모듈을 개발하였다. 본 논문의 전광판 모듈은 기존 각각의 LED 모듈을 구동함에 있어서 병렬 방식의 데이터 처리 방식을 픽셀을 기준으로 그 위의 서브 모듈과 그 상위에 마스터 모듈의 개념을 도입하고 각각의 화소를 직병렬 통신 방식으로 개선함으로 인해서 처리할 수 있는 데이터의 속도를 초당 36프레임 이상으로 끌어올려서 상대적으로 데이터의 처리량이 많은 동화상의 경우에도 원활한 디스플레이를 할 수 있도록 하였다. 또한 기존 전광판의 깜박거림 현상이 개선되어 보다 선명한 영상이 제공되는 효과도 있다.
