  • The quality of projector output image is influenced by the surrounding conditions such as the shape and color of screen, and environmental light. Therefore, techniques that ensure desirable image quality, regardless of such surrounding conditions, have been in demand and are being steadily developed. Among the techniques, radiometric compensation is a representative one. In general, radiometric compensation is achieved by measuring the color of the screen and environmental light based on an analysis of camera image of projector output image and then adjusting the color of projector input image in a pixel-wise manner. This process is not time-consuming for small sizes of images but the speed of the process drops linearly with respect to image size. In large sizes of images, therefore, reducing the time required for performing the process becomes a critical problem. Therefore, this paper proposes a fast radiometric compensation method. The method uses color filters for eliminating the color mixing between projector and camera because the speed of radiometric compensation depends mainly on measuring color mixing between projector and camera. By using color filters, there is no need to measure the color mixing. Through experiments, the proposed method improved the compensation speed by 44 percent while maintaining the projector output image quality. This method is expected to be a key technique for widespread use of projectors for large-scale and high-quality display.

  • In this paper, we propose the development of a high-sensitivity entry-level nuclide analysis module. The proposed measurement sensor module consists of an electronic driving circuit for nuclide analysis resolution, prototype production with nuclide analysis function, and GUI development applied to prototypes. The electronic part driving circuit for nuclide analysis resolution is divided into nuclide analysis resolution process by the electronic part driving circuit block diagram, MCU circuit design used for radiation measurement, and PC program design for Spectrum acquisition. Prototyping with nuclide analysis function is made by adding a 128×128 pixel OLED display, three buttons for operation, a Li-ion battery, and a USB-C type port for charging the battery. The GUI development department applied to the prototype develops the screen composition such as the current time, elapsed measurement time, total count, and nuclide Spectrum. To evaluate the performance of the proposed measurement sensor module, an expert witness test was conducted. As a result of the test, it was confirmed that the calculated result by applying the resolution formula to the Spectrum (FWHM@662keV) obtained using the Cs-137 standard source in the nuclide analysis device had a resolution of 17.77%. Therefore, it was confirmed that the nuclide analysis resolution method proposed in this paper produces improved performance while being cheaper than the existing commercial nuclide analysis module.

  • Recently, popularity of 3D technology has been growing significantly and it has many application parts in the various fields of industry. In order to overcome the limitations of 2D machine vision technologies based on 2D image, we need the 3D measurement technologies. There are many 3D measurement methods as such scanning probe microscope, phase shifting interferometry, confocal scanning microscope, white-light scanning interferometry, and so on. In this paper, we have used the extended depth of focus (EDF) algorithm among 3D measurement methods. The EDF algorithm is the method which extracts the 3D information from 2D images acquired by short range depth camera. In this paper, we propose the EDF algorithm using the edge informations of images and the average values of all pixel on z-axis to improve the performance of conventional method. To verify the performance of the proposed method, we use the various synthetic images made by point spread function(PSF) algorithm. We can correctly make a comparison between the performance of proposed method and conventional one because the depth information of these synthetic images was known. Through the experimental results, the PSNR of the proposed algorithm was improved about 1 ~ 30 dB than conventional method.

  • This paper describes an algorithm which merges two HDR pictures taken under different exposure time to display on the LDR devices such as LCD or CRT. The proposed method does not generate the radiance map, but directly merges using the weights computed from the input images. The weights are firstly produced on the pixel basis, and then blended with a Gaussian function. This process prevents some possible sparkle noises caused by radical change of the weights and contributes to smooth connection between 2 image informations. The chrominance informations of the images are merged on the weighted averaging scheme using the deviations of RGB average and their differences. The algorithm is characterized by the feature that it represents well the unsaturated area of 2 original images and the connection of the image information is smooth. The proposed method uses only 2 input images and automatically tunes the whole internal process according to them, thus autonomous operation is possible when it is included in HDR cameras which use double shuttering scheme or double sensor cells.

  • This paper presents development of a 4-inch WVCA OCB (Optical Compensated Bend)-mode display panel. The developed panel has a built-in circuit of the LTPS (low temperature poly-Si)-integrated gate driver circuit with the function of black data insertion. The function of black data insertion makes it possible to realize rapid response time of 4ms and wide viewing angle of $160^{\circ}$. We also applied the RGBW pixel structure for the brighter image with relatively low power consumption. The developed panel showed improved optical efficiency and driving capability of stable image quality for OCB mode. We developed high efficiency OCB-mode panel with built-in integrated gate driver circuit using LTPS on panel without any external driver IC.

  • As of 2014, KARI (Korea Aerospace Research Institute) operates two high-resolution satellites such as Kompsat-2 and Kompsat-3. Kompsat-3 has capability of in-track stereo images acquisition but it is quite limited because the stereo mode lowers the spatial coverage in a trajectory. In this paper we analyze the epipolar geometry from the heterogeneous Kompsat-2 and Kompsat-3 image combination to epipolar resample them for 3D spatial data acquisition. The analysis was carried out using the piecewise approach with RPCs (Rational Polynomial Coefficients) and the result showed the parabolic epipolar curve pattern. We also concluded that the third order polynomial transformation is required for epipolar image resampling. The resampled image pair showed 1 pixel level of y-parallax and can be used for 3D display and digitizing.

  • Poly-Si TFTs(polycrystalline silicon thin film transistors) fabricated on a low cost glass substrate have attracted a considerable amount of attention for pixel elements and peripheral driving circuits in AMLCS(active matrix liquid crystal display). In order to apply poly-Si TFTs for high resolution AMLCD, a high operating frequency and reliable circuit performances are desired. A new poly-Si TFT with CLBT(counter doped lateral body terminal) is proposed and fabricated to suppress kink effects and to improve the device stability. And this proposed device with BC(buried channel) is fabricated to increase ON-current and operating frequency. Although the troublesome LDD structure is not used in the proposed device, a low OFF-current is successfully obtained by removing the minority carrier through the CLBT. We have measured the dynamic properties of the poly-Si TFT device and its circuit. The reliability of the TFTs and their circuits after AC stress are also discussed in our paper. Our experimental results show that the BC enables the device to have high mobility and switching frequency (33MHz at $V_{DD}$ = 15 V). The minority carrier elimination of the CLBT suppresses kink effects and makes for superb dynamic reliability of the CMOS circuit. We have analyzed the mechanism in order to see why the ring oscillators do not operate by analyzing AC stressed device characteristics.

  • In this paper, we present a perception-based tone mapping technique using histogram modification for displaying high dynamic range image. HDR (high dynamic range) tone mapping algorithms are used to display HDR image on LDR (low dynamic rnage) devices. Although perception-based tone mapping methods provides better performance, it dose not always produce good results for a wide variety of images. The proposed method reduces dynamic range by using the perception-based tone mapping function and histogram modification. A derivative of perception-based tone mapping function is used as constraint function of histogram and additional compensation process is performed. This method not only improves contrast by adopting different constraints on each pixel value, but also preserves more visual details. In order to prevent over enhancement, histogram modification technique is applied. Furthermore, it can control the rate of image contrast using control parameters. Subjective and objective evaluations show that proposed algorithm is better than existing algorithms.

  • We report a novel structure for a full-color AMOLED (Active Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode) eliminating the patterning process of a blue emitting layer. The patterning of the three primary colors, RGB, is a key technology in the OLED fabrication process. Conventional full color AMOLED containing RGB layers includes the three opportunities of the defects to make an accurate position and fine resolution using various technologies such as fine metal mask, ink-jet printing and laser-induced transfer system. We can skip the blue patterning step by simply stacking the blue layer as a common layer to the whole active area after pixelizing two primary colors, RG, in the conventional small molecular OLED structure. The red and green pixel showed equivalent performances without any contribution of the blue emission.
