A Study on the Applicability of Holography in the Interior Architectural Design (실내건축디자인에서 홀로그래피 적용 가능성에 관한 연구)

  • Holography provides a medium for creative visual experiences in space and scale. It has been firmly established as a tool for scientific and engineering studies. It could be creatively used in interior architecture and display as a practical device and as a form of art. Basic principles and features of holography are explained. Design of the holographic systems are illustrated in some interior architectural applications. It is believed that holographic elements can make a valuable contribution to interior architecture design by controlling light and creating new concepts of colour and space.

A Study on the Display Considerations of RDA Resource Type (RDA 자원유형 디스플레이를 위한 고려사항에 관한 연구)

  • This study was to find the display considerations of RDA resource type - content type, media type, and carrier type. The Literature review, the case study, and the survey were used as the research method. 5 display strategies were suggested in this study. First, content and carrier types were better displayed than all 3 types of RDA resources. Second, two kinds of algorithm should be considered for RDA resource icon display. One was the combination of the terms of carrier types plus content types icon. The other was the combination of carrier types icon and content types icon in which the terms reflecting types must be included. Third, the subfield of 33x must be used for the paired display of content type and carrier type of multi-types resources. Fourth, in brief display, resource type icon was better positioned on the left and upper side and in detailed display, resource types were better located in description area. Fifth, 'format' was used as display indication phrase. This study would contribute to the design for the resource display by suggesting the practical display considerations of RDA resource type.

  • The final goal of this research is development of graphic design evaluation methodology in elevation of a usability at the mobile internet services and of measurement model which can forecast user needs in interface design, and systemize evaluation basis. For this, we systemize core contents of GUI design evaluation methodology and embodied UI design support system that supports prototype layout and evaluation process directly. The sight language that can inform flow of controled information by the quick and implicated method so that user may complete task in a short time without overload of recognition in limited display environment of Small Screen device it must improve objectivity in the reflection of UI design with image. Thus evaluation methodology that can evaluate usability of mobile internet systematically is important and specially, graphic design evaluation model which can forecast user's design need and trend is meaningful because of special quality that can reflect sensitive aspect of user in interface design. Mobile internet GUI was done by the result of this design evaluation, and I hope this result can be utilized for the GUI development of Ubiquitous environment for the future research.

Two Messages out of One 2D Matrix Bar Code

  • With the proposed principle of two-dimensional matrix bar code design based on masks, the whole surface of a 2D bar code is used for creating graphic patterns. Masks are a method of overlaying certain information with complete preservation of encoded information. In order to ensure suitable mask performance, it is essential to create a set of masks (mask folder) which are similar to each other. This ultimately allows additional error correction on the whole code level which is proven mathematically through an academic example of a QR code with a matrix of size $9{\times}9$. In order to create a mask folder, this article will investigate parameters based on Weber's law. With the parameters founded in the research, this principle shows how QR codes, or any other 2D bar code, can be designed to display two different messages. This ultimately enables a better description of a 2D bar code, which will improve users' visual recognition of 2D bar code purpose, and therefore users' greater enjoyment and involvement.

A Study on the Impact of a Process approach to Fine Art Exhibit Design on Visitor Interest and Appreciation (과정접근적 순수미술 전시가 관람자의 관심도와 감상력에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구)

  • Increasing interest and providing educational experience for the public have long been a major ARt Museum goal. This interest raises the question of how visitors respond to museum exhibits. Much researches have been done which indicate the newer and more interactive exhibits are indeed more didactic and enjoyable than conventional exhibits. This study examined the effectiveness of art exhibits which display information about the creative process of developing a work art along with the final work of art to test if they results in more viewer interest and greater appreciation of the final work of art than those which display only the final work of art. In the early part of the 1991 spring, a counterblancing AB/BA quasi-experiment was carried out in the Jhnson Museum of Art, Cornell University. Methods used to collect and measure visitory interest and appreciation were unobtrusive observation and survey questionnaire. As the indirect measurement of visitor interest, attracting power and holding power were measured by unobstrusive observation of visitor time spent, while the direct measurement of visitor interest and appreciation, visitor's interest, understanding , and degree of favorableness were measured by survey questinnaire. Data analysis reached conclusion that the process approach fine art exhibit designs significantly resulted in more viewer interest and greater appreciation of art work than the conventional fine art exhibit design.
