Topological Analysis on the Dispersion Polymerization of Styrene in Ethanol

  • A topological theory has been introduced to explain and evaluate the fractional volumes of system materials, the change of the weight and concentration of monomer molecules, molecular weight distribution, and interaction functions of polymer-polymer and polymer-oligomer, etc. for dispersion polymerization. The previous theory of Lu et al. has offered only an incomplete simulation model for dispersion polymer systems, whereas our present one gives a general theoretical model applicable to all the polymerization systems. The theory of Lu et al. considered only the physical property term caused by interaction between matters of low molecular weight (i.e., diluent, monomer, and oligomer) and polymer particles without dealing with physical properties caused by the structure of polymer networks in polymer particles, while our theory deals with all physical effect possible, caused by the displacement of not only entangled points but also junction points in polymer particles. The theoretically predictive values show good agreement with the experimental data for dispersion polymerization systems.

A Proposal of Simplified Eigenvalue Equation for an Analysis of Dielectric Slab Waveguide

  • In dielectric waveguide analysis and synthesis, we often encounter an awkward task of solving the eigenvalue equation to find the value of propagation constant. Since the dispersion equation is an irrational equation, we cannot solve it directly. Taking advantage of approximated calculation, we attempt here to solve this irrational dispersion equation. A new type of eigenvalue equation, in which guide index is expressed as a function of frequency, has been developed. In practical optical waveguide designing and in calculating the propagation mode, this equation will be used more conveniently than the previous one. To expedite the design of the waveguide, we then solve the eigenvalue equation of a slab waveguide, which is sufficiently accurate for practical purpose.

  • Gas leakage and dispersion in the underground LNG power plant can lead to serious fire and explosion accident. In this study, computational fluid dynamics simulation was applied to model the dynamic process of gas leakage and dispersion phenomena in a closed space. To analyze the risk assessment factor, such as the flammable volume ratio, transient simulations were carried out for different scenarios. The simulation results visualized the gas distribution with time in the closed space. The flammable volume ratio was introduced for quantitative analysis the fire/explosion probability.

도시공원의 경관생태학적 분석-패취의 형태지수와 분산도 분석을 중심으로- (Landscape ecological analysis of urban parks -analysis of index of patch shape and the dispersion of patches-)

  • Urban parks, as remnant patches, of two older cities and two new towns can be analyzed by a landscape ecological approach. The index of patch shape, the dispersion of patches, the mean edge length, and the mean patch size of parks of each city are ocmpared. The findings of this study are as follows : 1) The mean edge length of urban parks of older cities is longer than that of new towns : Seoul>Suwon>Bundang>Ansan. 2) The mean patch size of urban parks in Seoul is much greater than those of other cities : Seoul> Ansan>Suwon>Bundang. 3) The index of patch shape of urban parks of older cities is greater than that of new towns : Seoul>Suwon>BundangAnsan. 4) The dispersion of patches is in the order of Bundang >Ansan>Seoul>Suwon. The new towns have relatively even distributions of urban parks than older cities. Further research is required to find out the relationship between the index of patch shape and patch interior dynamics.

생물 활성탄 충진여과상에 대한 겉보기 분산계수를 이용한 파괴곡선의 공학적 해석 (Analysis of Breakthrough Curve Using Apparent Dispersion Coefficient in BAC)

  • The one of the most important factors we shoud consider in designing the processes using porous media such as activated carbon adsorber is the prediction of the breakthrough curve. In this study, the breakthrough curve of BAC process for the treatment of refractory pollutants was evaluated by simplified engineering analysis. Through the experiments, the slope of the breakthrough curve can be determined by retardation factor, R and apparent dispersion coefficient, $D_{app}$ which is determined by hydrodynamic dispersion, mass transfer effects and isotherm. Estimated concentration of effluent was agreed with the experimental values. Also, it is possible to use this method for predicting the breakthrough curve of the pollutants removal and tranport of pollutants in porous media.

복제 방지용 PUF 모델링을 위한 전자계 해석 (Electromagnetic Analysis to Design Unclonable PUF Modeling)

  • 본 논문에서는 Debye 분산 특성을 가지는 복제 방지용 PUF를 설계하기 위한 전자계 해석 방안을 고려하였다. 공기층과 유전체 기판 위에 형성된 분산매질(Si)로 구성된 1차원 모델 내에 전파하는 펄스를 모형하기 위해 FDTD법을 이용하였다. 불연속 경계면에 도달한 펄스는 일부 반사되고 일부는 투과되어 빠르게 감쇠되는 것으로 나타났다. 그 결과 FDTD법에 의한 유전체 기판을 고려한 Debye 분산특성을 가지는 1차원 복제방지용 PUF 모델링에 적용 가능한 것을 확인하였다.

  • 본 연구에서는 산업 현장에 쉽게 적용할 수 있도록 측정과 설치가 용이한 용접 모재간에 가해지는 전압(weld voltage)파형에서 용접 변수를 구하고, 실험으로 구한 용접 강도와의 상관 관계로부터, 점용접 품질 감시체제를 개발하고자 한다. 전압 파형에서 용접 변수를 구하기 위하여 추계 모델링 기법을 적용하고, 구해진 모 델로부터 분산 해석(dispersion analysis)을 통하여 용접 변수를 찾으며, 동시에 전극 변위 곡선을 실험적으로 구하여서, 분산 해석 방법의 신뢰도를 검사 하고자 한다.

A rapid screening method for selection and modification of ground motions for time history analysis

  • A three-step screening process is presented in this article for selection of consistent earthquake records in which number of suitable ground motions is quickly screened and reduced to a handful number. Records that remain at the end of this screening process considerably reduce the dispersion of structural responses. Then, an effective method is presented for spectral matching and modification of the selected records. Dispersion of structural responses is explored using different statistical measures for each scaling procedure. It is shown that the Uniform Design Method, presented in this study for scaling of earthquake records, results in most cases in the least dispersion measure.

확산계수의 모델링방법이 대기확산인자에 미치는 영향 (Influence of Modelling Approaches of Diffusion Coefficients on Atmospheric Dispersion Factors)

  • 가우시안 플륨모델(Gaussian plume model)을 사용한 대기확산의 예측에서 확산계수는 결과에 중요한 영향을 미치는 변수이다. 확산계수의 평가방법은 다양하며, 본 연구에서는 미국 원자력규제위원회(U. S. NRC) 권고 규제지침, 캐나다 원자력안전위원회(CNSC) 권고 규제지침, 확률론적 사고결말해석코드 MACCS와 MACCS2에서 권고 또는 적용하는 방법을 고찰하였다. U. S. NRC에서 권고하는 부지적합성 평가를 위한 가상사고시 대기확산모델을 기반으로 확산계수의 평가방법이 대기확산인자에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 확산계수는 Pasquill-Gifford 곡선을 기반으로 각기 다른 연구자들에 의해 얻어진 곡선의 피팅식(curve fitting equations)을 적용 또는 권고하고 있음을 확인하였다. 수평확산계수는 모든 규제지침과 코드에서 플륨의 사행효과를 반영하여 보정하고 있으나 그 적용 방법에 있어서는 차이를 나타냈다. 수직확산계수는 U. S. NRC 권고 규제지침을 제외하고 표면거칠기를 반영하여 보정하고 있다. 특정 표면거칠기에 대해 확산계수의 적용방법에 따라 대기확산인자는 최대 약 4배의 차이를 나타냈다. 표면거칠기는 대기확산인자에 중요한 영향을 나타냈으며, 동일 적용방법에 대해 표면거칠기에 따라 대기확산인자는 약 2~3배의 차이를 나타냈다.

  • In this paper, the dispersive characteristics of the Finite-Difference Frqequency-Domain method based on the Multi-Resolution Technique(MR-FDFD) are numerically analyzed. A dispersion analysis of the MR-FDFD ority of the MR-FDFD method to the spatial discretization is shown. We expect that the multi-resoluation technique will improve the disavantage of the finite difference techqnique which needs the large comutational memory for accurate electromagnetic analysis.
