Analyses of the Effect of Inserting Border Lines between Adjacent Color Regions on Detecting Boundaries (경계선 검출에 대한 인접 칼라 영역간 테두리 선 삽입 효과의 분석)

  • This paper presents the analyses of the effect of inserting border lines between different color regions on edge detection in color codes, and is not intended to present any new algorithm for color-code recognition. With its role to complement the RFID (radio frequency identification) and the wide and fast spread of digital cameras, an interest on color codes is fast increasing. However, the severe distortion of colors in obtained images prohibits color codes from expanding their applications. To reduce the effect of color distortion it is desirable to process the whole pixels in each color region statistically, instead of relying on some pixels sampled from the region. This requires segmentation, and the segmentation usually requires edge detection. To help detect edges not disconnected, we inserted border lines of the width of two pixels between adjacent color regions. Two colors were used for the border lines: one consisting of white pixels, and the other black pixels. The edge detection was performed on images with either of the two kinds of border lines inserted, and the results were compared to results without inserted border lines. We found that inserting black border lines degraded edge detection by causing zipper effect while inserting white border lines improved it compared to the cases without inserted border lines.

Modified Submental Intubation in Panfacial Bone Fracture Patients (전안면골 골절에서의 변형된 아래턱밑 삽관)

  • Purpose: Nasotracheal or oral intubation procedure is widely used for facial bone fractures. However, during the operation intubated tube can interfere or obstruct the view of the operator. We authors used a modified submental intubation method in panfacial bone fracture patients for intact airway and the operation view. Methods: After intravenous induction of anaesthesia, traditional orotracheal tubation was done. A horizontal incision was made 2 cm from the midline, 2 cm medial to and parallel with the mandible in the submental region. 1 In order to approach to the floor of the oral cavity, a haemostat was pushed through the soft tissues. A chest tube front cover was applied to the intubation tube and the tube was inserted through the submental tunnel. Orotracheal tube was disconnected and pulled back through the soft tissue and secured with a suture. Results: The procedure took about 30 minutes and there were no problems during the intubation. Intraoral manipulation and occlusal checks were free without any interference. Extubation was also easily done without any complications such as lung aspiration, infection, hematoma, or fistula. Conclusion: Submental endotracheal intubation is fast, safe, easy to use and free from the concern about the tube being pull back again. Conventional submental intubations are being held without any coverage of the tip. We authors applied the modified method to the trauma patients and obtained satisfactory results. From the above advantages, modified submental intubation can be widely available not only in fractured patients, but also in aesthetic or orthognathic surgeries.

The Effect of Children's Leadership and Self-regulation Upon Peer Play Behaviors (유아의 리더십과 자기조절능력이 또래 놀이행동에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the influence of children's socia-demographic variables(i.e., gender, birth order, and the amount of time staying in kindergarten) on, leadership, self-regulation and children's peer play behaviors. The participants of this study are 336 children aged between five and seven in four classes in a private kindergarten and eight classes in a private preschool located in the capital region. The results revealed that, girls showed more leadership, self-regulation, and play interaction section than boys: whereas, boys showed higher response in play disruption and the lack of play disconnection. However, birth order, did not have a significant effect on the sub-domain of leadership, self-regulation competence, and peer play behaviors. As for the duration children stay in preschool or in preschool or kindergarten, children who spend half-day showed higher reaction in behavioral self-control and emotional taking abilities than children who stay in the preschool or kindergarten full day. On the other hand, self-esteem of full-time children was higher than half-time children. Children who were emotionally sensitive, knew how to lead their peer group, and those who were sociable and self-regulated presented to be more active in peer-interaction than others. Second, as the result of the correlation analysis reveals, children's leadership, self-regulation competence, peer play behaviors, and play interaction had a meaningful effect on the sub-variations of children's leadership and self-regulation and they showed significant influence upon play disruption and play disconnection. In addition, girls who were not able to manage or to inspect their behavior and had insensitive emotion demonstrated higher tendency to play disconnected. Children, who participated in full-day program with having difficulties in self-regulation or inspecting their behavior properly but had a strong leadership and insensitive showed play disruption highly.

Color Code Detection and Recognition Using Image Segmentation Based on k-Means Clustering Algorithm (k-평균 클러스터링 알고리즘 기반의 영상 분할을 이용한 칼라코드 검출 및 인식)

  • Severe distortions of colors in the obtained images have made it difficult for color codes to expand their applications. To reduce the effect of color distortions on reading colors, it will be more desirable to statistically process as many pixels in the individual color region as possible, than relying on some regularly sampled pixels. This process may require segmentation, which usually requires edge detection. However, edges in color codes can be disconnected due tovarious distortions such as zipper effect and reflection, to name a few, making segmentation incomplete. Edge linking is also a difficult process. In this paper, a more efficient approach to reducing the effect of color distortions on reading colors, one that excludes precise edge detection for segmentation, was obtained by employing the k-means clustering algorithm. And, in detecting color codes, the properties of both six safe colors and grays were utilized. Experiments were conducted on 144, 4M-pixel, outdoor images. The proposed method resulted in a color-code detection rate of 100% fur the test images, and an average color-reading accuracy of over 99% for the detected codes, while the highest accuracy that could be achieved with an approach employing Canny edge detection was 91.28%.

  • Recently, the gated community has been increasing due to various reasons such as demand for differentiated areas and security, but various problems have been raised, including regional conflicts, traffic restrictions and disconnection of surrounding areas. Therefore, this study empirically considered what kind of spatial effect the gated community has on the surrounding area by analyzing the vitality using floating population big data and analyzing pedestrian accessibility using network analysis and social network analysis. As a result, it was found that the overall vitality in the study area was greatly affected by the land use and the building use. However, focusing on apartment complexes, even in the same land use, when the form of the complex is open to the outside, there is a lot of floating population, so the vitality is high. In terms of accessibility, assuming that the gated community is open, it was found that as the physical connectivity improved, there were more roads for pedestrians to choose from, and the accessibility improved as traffic and exchanges occurred in the disconnected space. The value of improving property rights and residential environment is also precious, but it is necessary to review how to reflect the improvement of local permeability in enhancing the publicness of cities and the value and direction of communities that can coexist with the region.
