배터리 충, 방전 및 영전압 제어를 위한 양방향 컨버터 설계 (Design of a Bidirectional Converter for Battery Charging, Discharging and Zero-voltage Control)

  • This study proposes a converter that makes battery charging, discharging, and zero voltage control possible. The proposed topology consists of an LLC converter and a half-bridge inverter, and all power semiconductor devices are applied Si-MOSFETs. The topology is designed with an LLC switching frequency of 100 kHz, a half-bridge inverter switching frequency of 50 kHz, and a battery voltage of 5 V. The advantages of the charging/discharging operation of the 5 V battery voltage and the zero voltage control of the battery are verified. In addition, by using a two-stage topology, the battery can be charged, discharged through current control, and discharged to zero voltage. With the proposed topology, the current can be maintained even when the battery voltage drops to zero.

Li-ion 배터리 충/방전 시스템의 안정적 운영에 관한 연구 (A Study on Stable Operation of Li-ion Battery Charging/Discharging System)

  • DC ${\mu}$-Grid 기반의 충/방전 시스템에서 배터리의 동작 변환 시, 망 전압의 fluctuation이 발생하게 되며, 과다한 fluctuation은 충/방전 시스템의 손상 및 고장을 일으킬 수 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 DC ${\mu}$-Grid 기반의 충/방전 시스템에서 fluctuation 완화용 커패시터의 적용 및 설계 포인트에 대하여 연구하였다. 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션 결과, 3개의 충전 배터리 set와 5개의 방전 배터리 set의 조건으로 운영되는 DC ${\mu}$-Grid 기반 충/방전 시스템에서 600V/35mF의 초기 값을 갖는 fluctuation 완화용 커패시터를 적용하였을 때 충/방전에 의한 fluctuation을 약 66.3% 감소시킬 수 있었으며, 추가적으로 초기 망 전압 안정화 시 발생하는 fluctuation 또한 약 73% 감소시킬 수 있었다.

코로나 방전에 의한 방진/의료용 마스크 여과재의 기능화 가공 (Functional Finishing of Nonwoven Filter for Dust-proof/Medical Masks by Corona Discharging Treatment)

  • In this study, 25gsm melt-blown polypropylene nonwoven for dust-proof/medical masks was finished by the corona discharging treatment. The influence of corona discharging parameters on the filtration efficiency was investigated. Several parameters such as discharging voltage, discharging speed, distance to discharging wire and configuration of discharging system had an effect on filtration efficiency, while the parameters had no effect on breathing resistance. Optimum corona discharging conditions are as follows: Wires were installed on the upper part of the nonwoven and paper pipe was installed on the lower part of the nonwoven having a distance of 5cm. The sequence of wire voltages was +60 kV, +60 kV, 0, -60 kV, and -60 kV. The discharging voltage and speed were 60 kV and 30m/min respectively. The nonwoven treated by corona discharging at the optimum condition showed a filtration efficiency of 80% or more, which is suitable for dust-proof/medical masks.

선박용 탐사조명 전원장치의 방전개시전압 제어와 조명 이상검출 (Discharging Voltage Control with Error Detecting for Search light of Ship)

  • 본 논문에서는 선박용 HID조명의 방전 개시전압을 조절함으로써 초기 방전전류를 억제하여, HID조명의 안정적인 점등이 가능한 제어방식을 제안하였다. 제안된 제어 방식은 방전 대기전압까지 출력전압을 상승시킨 후, 충전전압의 저항부하 방전을 통하여 전압을 감소시키면서, 설계된 방전개시전압시점에서 이그니터를 점화하여 방전 개시 전류를 제한한다. 방전 후 정상상태에서는 정전류 제어로 조도를 제어하게 된다. 제안된 방식은 별도의 전압제어기를 포함하지 않으면서도, 방전개시 시점을 조절할 수 있으므로, 초기 방전 전류를 크게 제한할 수 있으므로, 안정적인 점등과 조명의 수명을 확대할 수 있는 장점이 있다. 또한 조명의 이상상태를 간단한 이상검출 회로를 통하여 순시적으로 감시하여 전체 시스템의 보호 성능을 개선하였다. 제안된 제어기는 실제 선박용 2.5[kW]급의 HID 탐사조명에 대한 실험을 통하여 검증하였다.

Battery State-of-Charge Estimation Algorithm Using Dynamic Terminal Voltage Measurement

  • When a battery is discharging, the battery's current and terminal voltage must both be measured to estimate its state of charge (SOC). If the SOC can be estimated by using only the current or voltage, hardware costs will decrease. This paper proposes an SOC estimation algorithm that needs to measure only the terminal voltage while a battery is discharging. The battery's SOC can be deduced from its open circuit voltage (OCV) through the relationship between SOC and OCV. But when the battery is discharging, it is not possible to measure the OCV due to the voltage drop in the battery's internal resistance (IRdrop). The proposed algorithm calculates OCV by estimating IRdrop using a dynamic terminal voltage measurement. This paper confirms the results of applying the algorithm in a hardware environment via algorithm binarization. To evaluate the algorithm, a Simulink battery model based on actual values was used.

  • This paper describes high voltage and high energy density capacitor developed for pulsed power applications. The rated voltage of the developed capacitor is DC 22 [kV], the capacitance is 206 [$\mu$F] and the energy density is about 0.7 [kJ/kg]. Polypropylene film and kraft paper were used as the dielectrics. The ratio of the thickness of each dielectric material which consists of the composite dielectric structure, stacking factor and the termination method were determined by the charging and discharging tests on model capacitors. In terms of energy density, the developed capacitor has higher energy density compared with the products of foreign leading companies. In addition, it has been proved that the life expectancy can be more over 2000 shots through the charging and discharging test. The voltage reversal factor was 20%. This capacitor can be used as numerous discharge applications such as military, medical, industrial fields.

  • The pulsed Power system has been widely used to many applications, such as E/P(Electrostatic Precipitator), DeNOx/DeSOx power system, often generator, etc. In this paper, we study EMTP analysis and characteristics of critical voltage and load in impedance on various electrode length of pulse corona. To obtain a stable pulse voltage, we designed a compact pulse generator switched MOSFET and tested their characteristics by adjusting electrode length and pulse repetition. As a re sult, critical voltage of pulse corona and load impedance on increasing electrode length were decreased. These results indicate we can control critical voltage of pulse corona and suppress arc discharging between two electrodes.

  • Pulsed power systems consist of a capacitor bank, an isolated high-voltage charging power-supply, high-current bus-work for charging and discharging and a control system. In such pulsed power systems, the operating-lifetime of the capacitors is closely dependent on the voltage reversal. Hence, most capacitor-discharging systems includes crowbar circuits. The crowbar circuit prevents the capacitor recharging with reverse voltage. Usually it consists of crowbar resistors and high pulse-current diode-stacks connected in series. The requirements for the diode-stacks are fast-recovery time and high-voltage and large-current ratings, which results in the high cost of the pulsed-power system. This paper presents a protection scheme of a charging and discharging system of a 500kJ capacitor bank using a low-cost crowbar circuit and safety-fuses.

  • This paper proposes a method to improve the charging speed and discharging performance of a high voltage capacitor used in a portable medical device. The improvement of the charging speed was achieved by duty cycle control. The discharging performance was carried out by varying the phase duration and the leading edge voltage of the output according to the transthoracic impdedance of the patient. As a result, the improvement in the charging speed and the performance of the discharging parameters shorten the patient treatment time.

인공위성용 총방전 시스템의 해석 (Analysis of the battery charging and discharging system for spacecrafts)

  • A spacecraft power system can be divided into two types : DET system(Direct Energy Transfer system) and PPT system(Peak Power Tracking system). In a DET system employing the regulated bus voltage control method, the battery charger and discharger are widely used for the bus voltage regulation. The battery charger has two different modes of operation. One is the bus voltage regulation mode and the other is the charge current regulation mode. The battery discharger is employed to provide the power when the spacecraft is in the earth's shadow or the sun is eclipsed. The operating mode, charging or discharging, is selected by a power control circuit. In this paper, small-signal dynamic characteristics of battery charging and discharging system are analyzed to facilitate design of control loop for optimum performance. Control loop designs in various operating modes are discussed. Anaylses are verified through experiments.
