Toluene Removal Using Surface Discharge Induced Plasma Chemical Process (연면방전 플라즈마를 이용한 톨루엔 처리에 관한 연구)

  • The experimental study by use of SPCP was fulfilled to remove toluene emitted from various industrial processes. First of all, discharge characteristic was experimented as the change of applied voltage and frequency. Then toluene removal characteristic was tested with the analysis of by-products. As a result, optimum electrical discharge condition was from 20.0 kHz to 25.0 kHz of frequency and from 3.5 kV to 4.0 kV of voltage range. The variation of applied voltage had a more important effect on the removal characteristic of toluene than the frequency variation. The toluene removal efficiency was proportioned to ozone concentration and retention time on discharge plate. It was dropped as increase of toluene concentration, but total treated volume of tolene per power consumption was high. The decomposed toluene was transformed to $CO, CO_2$ and particulates, and the rate of transformation to particulates was higher than CO and $CO_2$ at high toluene concentration. Particulates were increased from 0.017 $\mum$ to 0.3 $\mum$ range of size distribution.

  • As a display becomes large recently, Acquisition of high luminance and Luminance uniformity is becoming difficult in the existing CCFL or EEFL backlight system. So, study for a performance enhancement has enforced. but lamp development of flat type is asked for high luminance and a luminance uniformity security in of LCD and area anger trend ultimately. In this paper, we changed a tip shape of an electrode for production by the most suitable LCD backlight surface light source, and confirmed discharge characteristic along discharge gas pressure and voltage, and confirmed electric field distribution and discharge energy characteristic through a Maxwell 2D simulation. Therefore the discharge firing voltage characteristic showed a low characteristic than a rectangular type and round type in case of electrode which used tip of a triangle type, and displayed a discharge electric current as a same voltage was low.

  • A relationship between discharge delay time and the aging method were investigated: A-Y (Address electrode - Scan electrode) aging and conventional X-Y(Common electrode - Scan electrode) aging with the variation of sustain voltage beyond self-erasing discharge. Although A-Y aging decreases discharge delay time, it has several drawbacks like non-uniformity of discharge, degradation of luminous efficiency and a color temperature. In a conventional aging condition which is carried out near the mid-margin voltage, discharge delay time is short in low voltage and high frequency condition. As an alternative to conventional voltage aging, high voltage aging is suggested which is carried out at self-erasing sustain voltage region. High voltage aging shows lower discharge delay time and fast aging speed than conventional voltage aging.

  • The simulation of Hydraulic pressure distribution of discharge tube with globular beads and the removal characteristic of Escherichia coli by the discharge tube with globular beads were estimated. The removal characteristic of Escherichia coli was related to the input voltage because the electric field is increased according to input voltage. As the passing amount of test water in discharge tube is increased, the removal ratio of Escherichia coli was increased because passing numbers of electric field section is increased.

At the result of the removal characteristic experiments of escherichia coli using the discharge tube with globular $SiO_2$, because the electric field is also increased when input voltage is increased, the removal characteristic of escherichia coli was appeared relation connection to input voltage. When diameter of globular $SiO_2$ is increased, the removal time of escherichia coli is to be decreased because dielectric polalization of globular dielectric($SiO_2$), Also, the removal ratio of escherichia coli of the discharge tube with globular dielectric($SiO_2$) is appeared higher than the removal ratio of the discharge tube without globular dielectric($SiO_2$).

  • In this study, several experiment is executed to analyze properties of Electrodeless Discharge Lamp using H-Discharge. 1. The operating frequency of this lamp is $2.45{\sim}2.65$[MHz] 2. The color of light is mild-white. And, it is shifted in the direction of red in low temperature. 3. In ambient temperature under $10^{\circ}C$, luminous efficiency is decreased precipitously. Therefore, research for improvement discharge-characteristic in low temperature need. 4. Discharge-characteristic stable between $160{\sim}240$[V]. And, luminous output is inverse proportion to coil-voltage. 5. When input-voltage is decreased continuously unstable section exist.
