유연전극을 이용한 대기압 부유전극 유전체 장벽 방전 플라즈마 (Atmospheric Pressure Floating Electrode-Dielectric Barrier Discharges (FE-DBDs) Having Flexible Electrodes)

  • 유연전극 기반의 대기압 부유전극 유전체 장벽 방전 (floating electrode-dielectric barrier discharge, FE-DBD) 시스템을 개발하여 플라즈마 특성을 분석하였다. 유연한 파워전극(powered electrode)을 구성하는 유연유전체로 polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), polydiemethylsiloxane (PDMS), polyethylene terephthalate (PET)를 사용하여 플라즈마를 발생하였을 때 플라즈마의 광학적 세기와 전자온도는 파워전극에 인가하는 전압이 증가할수록 증가하였고, 전압이 일정할 때는 PTFE < PDMS < PET 순으로 증가하였다. 이는 유전체의 종류와 전압에 따른 축전용량의 변화로 설명할 수 있었고, 유연전극 기반의 대기압 FE-DBD 플라즈마의 특성은 유연한 파워전극을 구성하는 유전체와 파워전극에 인가되는 전압을 변화함으로써 조절될 수 있음을 의미한다. 유연전극 대기압 FE-DBD 시스템은 피부 곡면을 따라 플라즈마가 발생될 수 있으므로 플라즈마 메디신(plasma medicine)에 유용할 것으로 기대한다.

  • To detect partial discharge of 154kV joint box, we have made experiment by using the Al-foil electrode sensor. Generally the signals which are detected in partial discharge test of underground power transmission cable are accompanied wi th both noises of high voltage and noises of surrounding power cable. The most noise in near to end part of joint box is corona, beside other noises flowed from surrounding area. Partial discharge test is difficulty due to these noises. First, we had used Al-Foi1 sensor on middle joint box of 154[kV] underground transmission power cable, and then analyzed reliability of calibration signal by using the Al-Foi1 electrode sensor of NJB. From above results, decrement properties measured highly. But incase of injecting calibration signal of 500[pC] after measuring signals in IJB, the S/N ratio had about 25[dB] acquisition.

  • Recently, Display devices have become important in the information-oriented society and flat display devices are greatly demanded. Liquid crystal display(LCD) represents one of the most promising devices for large size desk-top monitors, notebook PC and car navigation system. However LCD cannot give forth light itself and must have backlight system. The most popular backlighting system is composed of a lighting-guide plate and CCFL as a lighting source. The number of CCFL must increase up if the area of display is increased. So a new backlighting source with high luminance is needed for large LCDs. In this paper, we proposed a surface discharge FFL with the new electrode structure like the needle shaped electrode as the variation of cell structure to high luminance and low power consumption. In comparison with different electrode structure it has low discharge voltage and current and good optical characteristics. So it has better discharge characteristics than different surface discharge FFL and can be fungible for a backlight as a lighting source in LCDs.

음이온 생성을 위한 표면 유전체장벽방전의 설계조건 연구 (A Study of The Surface Dielectric Barrier Discharge Design Conditions for Generating Negative Air Ions)

  • This paper describes a study of the design conditions of a planar surface dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) reactors for generating negative air ions. The capacity of negative air ion generated by the surface DBD reactor is affected by the shape, area ratio and the location of the discharge and induction electrodes of it. To study the optimal design conditions of DBD reactors, the electrodes printed on the substrate of a PCB board is utilized to conduct kind of experiments: the distance of the each electrode along with the X-Y axis, the area ratio of the discharge electrode to induction electrode, and the symmetrical and asymmetrical location of two electrodes. The ion generation capacity is inverse proportional to the gap increases along with X-Y axis. And the optimum ion concentration generated by the ionizer was inspected when the electrodes area ratio was 3 and 5 times of the symmetrical and asymmetrical experimental condition respectively.

HP1MA 강의 형조 방전가공에서 흑연 전극 마모에 관한 연구 (A Study on Graphite Electrode Wear in Sink EDM of HP1MA Steel)

  • In discharge machining, material is removed by electrical discharge between the electrode and the workpiece. An important consideration in EDM is that the wear of the electrodes decreases the final precision of the workpiece. The edge wear of the electrodes proceeds very quickly because sparks occur more frequently at the edges with high local electrical strength. In this study, mold steel was discharged with a wedge-shaped graphite electrode to measure the edge wear of the electrode according to the depth. The electrode edge wear increased with depth during EDM and a wear model was developed. The model predicted that the edge wear can be reduced by approximately 70% using two electrodes instead of a single electrode. The model was supported by the experimental comparison of the dual electrode method and the single electrode method.

  • 본 논문에서는 강한 불평등전계를 형성시킬 수 있는 다선형전극을 강전해수 발생장치내에 설치하여 전계집중효과에 의해 발생되는 기포내의 선행방전의 형태와 기포방전이 수소이온농도와 산화환원전위반응에 미치는 영향을 검토하고자 하였다. 실험결과, 강전해수 발생장치내의 양전극측을 다선형으로 함으로써 양전극측에서 발생되는 기포내에서 비유전율 차이에 의한 기포내의 선행방전을 관찰할 수 있었다. 그리고 기포방전에 의해 발생된 이온들이 강전해수 발생장치내에 용해됨으로써 전해수의 이온농도를 증가시켰다. 이때 발생된 고농도의 이온들을 분리집속 시키고 산화환원작용을 크게 증가시켜 고농도의 강전해수를 발생시킬 수 있었다.

  • In this study, plasma flat fluorescent lamps (FFLs) having two electrode type structures of surface discharge was fabricated by screen printing and were characterized using spectra-radiometer and square pulse power supply. Two types of FFLs (cross-type and line-type electrode structure) were compared with variation of discharge shape and electrode distance.

  • As mechanical components require size minimization and high precision, micro die machining technology has been developed in many fields. to machine a micro die by EDM, sometimes, a polygonal electrode is use. Machining corners by MEDM shows special characteristics. Physically, electrons are concentrated in sharp region and a high potential level is established in this region. Also, the electrode can't be rotated when machining a polygonal cavity, and machined debris can not drawn off easily. Discharge concentration in corners and 2nd discharge by machined debris result in distortion of corner shape. This phenomena can be improved by shaking the electrode. This method is also shown to be effective in improving surface roughness by circulation of machining fluid resulting from movement of the electrode.

  • In this paper, we present the fabrication of copper electrode array and test of electrochemical discharge machining(ECDM) for glass machining. An array of 72 Cu electrodes is used to machine Borofloat33 glass. The height and diameter of a Cu electrode are 400 $\mu\textrm{m}$ and 100 $\mu\textrm{m}$ respectively. It is fabricated by ICP-RIE, Au-Au thermo-compression bonding, and copper electroplating. Borofloat33 glass is machined by the fabricated copper electrode array in 60 seconds at 55 V. The surface roughness of the machined glass is measured and the machined glass is anodically bonded with silicon.

미세 캐비티 방전 가공에서 바닥면 형상 왜곡 (Distortion of the Bottom Surface in Micro Cavity Machining Using MEDM)

  • As mechanical components are miniaturized, the demand on micro die and mold is increasing. Micro mechanical components usually have high hardness and good conductivity. So micro electrical discharge machining (MEDM) is an effective way to machine those components. In micro cavity fabrication using MEDM, it is observed that the bottom surface of cavity is distorted. Electric charges tend to be concentrated at the sharp edge. At the center of the bottom surface, debris can not be drawn off easily. These two phenomena make the bottom surface of the electrode and workpiece distort. As machining depth increases, the distorted shape of electrode approaches hemisphere. This process is affected by capacitance and the size of electrode. By using a smaller electrode than the desired cavity size and appropriate tool movement, bottom shape distortion can be prevented.
