  • High intensity metal halide discharge lamp performance, specifically the generated luminous flux and light color content, depends critically on the arc tube design. Factors influencing the design and consequent lamp efficacy include : lamp size, geometry, arc tube composition, fill chemistry, electrode design and excitation modes. Shaping of Polycrystalline Alumina(PCA) can be realized by conventional ceramic processes. Several processes are applied nowadays. Well-known in the ceramic high pressure field for decades are the pressing and the extrusion method. Newly developed slurry and precious forming technologies give the one-body seamless tubes, which improve thickness uniformity and lighting performance. Now, we reported some optical properties with different arc tube structures of ceramic metal halide lamps.

  • Composite insulating materials used in outdoor high voltage equipment are required to have high electric performance because of the miniaturization. The frequence dependence of the permittivity and the loss tangent have important information. In this paper we describe the frequency dependence of the permittivity and the loss tangent for epoxy resin filled with silica and the influence of filler shape on the dielectric properties. The increment of tan $\delta$ in the low frequency region is caused by the increment of both of the electrical conductivity and the polarization due to the shape of filler and water sbsorbed in and near the interface between the fillers and resins. Result of charge current and discharge measure, electric conduction increased according to voltage.

  • We evaluated cell survivability by changing RLC value on HV impulse network. When the L value is changed from 0 to 10mH in this circuit. we found that cell survivability is shown large decline with 4mH of L value. I respect to this result, when waveshapes of oscillatory decay are presented along the variation of L value in RLC circuit, we analyzed whether discharge waveform properties have an effect on sterilization ratio, and measured threshold voltage as the minimum peak voltage of a single pulse which can sterilize cells. Finally, we found that the sterilization effect was related to number of threshold voltage waveforms being applied.

  • Mo-doped $LiFePO_4$ was synthesized via co-precipitation method using sucrose as the carbon source. Structure, surface morphology, and the electrochemical properties of the synthesized olivine compounds were investigated using Rietveld refinement of X-ray diffraction data (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and electrochemical charge-ischarge tests. Spherical morphology with the particle size of ${\sim}8{\mu}m$ authenticated the enhanced tap density and volumetric energy density of the synthesized materials. Charge-discharge behavior of $LiFePO_4$ and Mo-doped $LiFePO_4$ cells demonstrated a specific capacity of 130 and 145 mAh $g^{-1}$, respectively. Mo-doped $LiFePO_4$ cells exhibited an excellent discharge capacity at 96 mAh $g^{-1}$ at 7 C-rate.

  • Inception and propagation of electrical tree and properties of partial discharge(PD) pulses accompanying with tree in low density polyethylene were discussed. We observed the characteristics of process of electrical tree by using optical microscope and investigated the statistical characteristics of the PD pulses by analyzing PD quantities and distribution patterns. The PD pulses were analyzed by q-n, $\phi$-n and $\phi$-q distribution. The statistical operators used were skewness(s), kurtosis(k) and average phase angle. The skewness and average discharge phase angle of PD pulses increased as the Propagation of tree. The kurtosis was about 1.8 at the Inception of tree, but It increased as the propagation of tree.

  • In this study, lithium manganese oxide spinel ($LiMn_{1.9}Fe_{0.1}Nb_{0.0005}O_4$) as a cathode material of lithium ion secondary batteries is synthesized with spray drying, and in order to increase its crystallinity and electrochemical properties, the granulated $LiMn_{1.9}Fe_{0.1}Nb_{0.0005}O_4$ particle surface is coated with lithium titanium oxide spinel ($Li_4Ti_5O_{12}$) through a sol-gel method. The granulated particles present a higher tap density and lower specific surface area. The crystallinity and discharge capacity of the $Li_4Ti_5O_{12}$ coated material is relatively higher than uncoated material. With the coating layer, the discharge capacity and cycling stability are increased and the capacity fading is suppressed successfully.

  • Carbon/silicon composites were synthesized by mixing silicon powders with petroleum pitch and subsequent heat-treatment. The resultant composites were composed of carbon and nano-size crystalline silicon identified by XRD and EDX. FIB images and SEM images were taken respectively to detect the existence of silicon impregnated in carbon and the distribution of silicon on the carbon surface. The obtained carbon/silicon materials were assembled as half cell anodes for lithium ion secondary battery and their electrochemical properties were tested. The pitch/silicon composite (3 : 1 wt. ratio) heat treated at $1000^{\circ}C$ and mixed with 55.5 wt.% of graphite showed relatively good electrochemical properties such as the initial efficiency of 78%, the initial discharge capacity of 605 mAh/g, and the discharge capacity of 500 mAh/g after 20 cycles.
