This paper represents a study on disassembly sequence generation system for automobile parts. This system is practically very useful because proper disassembly sequence of end-of-life product becomes crucial as take-back obligations are imposed for environmental reasons. Therefore a disassembly sequence generation system is suggested to automatically derive all the feasible disassembly sequences from the assembly modeling files. As a result, in consideration of the all parts and subassemblies the optimum disassembly sequence is generated. And the optimum disassembly sequence for a certain part or subassembly can be also suggested.

In order to improve the recyclability and to reduce the recycling cost and time, the disassembly technology should be systemized because the worn out products can be reused or recycled after disassembly processes. This paper attempts to propose the integrated CATIA-based DfD (Design for Disassembly) support system to promote the disassemblability of products. The system is composed of two modules; evaluation of disassemblability, generation of DfD alternatives. The disassemblability of current vehicle is evaluated to identify the weak point in terms of disassembly using the DELMIA and developed evaluation system. Furthermore a new expert system is developed to propose the optimal redesign rule and principle for generating the DfD alternatives. In order to generate the DfD alternatives, a CATIA-based design support system is implemented. The system can provide quick results and ensure consistency and completeness of the redesign alternatives.
Promotion of a closed-loop supply chain requires disassembly systems that recycle end-of-life (EOL) assembled products. To operate the recycling disassembly system, parts selection is environmentally and economically carried out with non-destructive or destructive disassembly, and the recycling rate of the whole EOL product is determined. As the number of disassembled parts increases, the recycling rate basically increases. However, the labor cost also increases and brings lower profit, which is the difference between the recovered material prices and the disassembly costs. On the other hand, since the precedence relationships among disassembly tasks of the product also change with the parts selections, it is also required to optimize allocation of the tasks in designing a disassembly line. In addition, because information is required for such a design, the recycling rate, profit of each part and disassembly task times take precedence among the disassembly tasks. However, it is difficult to obtain that information in advance before collecting the actual EOL product. This study proposes and analyzes an optimal disassembly system design using integer programming with the environmental and economic parts selection (Igarashi et al., 2013), which harmonizes the recycling rate and profit using recyclability evaluation method (REM) developed by Hitachi, Ltd. The first stage involves optimization of environmental and economic parts selection with integer programming with ${\varepsilon}$ constraint, and the second stage involves optimization of the line balancing with integer programming in terms of minimizing the number of stations. The first and second stages are generally and mathematically formulized, and the relationships between them are analyzed in the cases of cell phones, computers and cleaners.

This paper presents a new DFD methodology to estimate the standard disassembly time and evaluate the disassemblablity of a product. The disassembly time is estimated with some decision and influencing factors of disassembly using motion analysis. The disassemblablity is evaluated using weights of the decision and influencing factors and disassembly difficulty scores. and the tables that include the time and stores of disassembly are suggested Finally, a new DFD support system is implemented to help designers to analyze the Product during the design process in concurrent engineering.

Disassembly of products at their end-of-life (EOL) is a prerequisite for recycling or remanufacturing, since most products should be disassembled before being recycled or remanufactured as secondary parts or materials. In disassembly sequence planning of EOL products, considered are the uncertainty issues, i.e., defective parts or joints in an incoming product, disassembly damage, and imprecise net profits and costs. The paper deals with the problem of determining the disassembly level and corresponding sequence, with the objective of maximizing the overall profit under uncertainties in disassembly cost and/or revenue. The solution is represented as the longest path on a directed acyclic graph where parameter (arc length) uncertainties are modeled in the form of intervals. And, a heuristic algorithm is developed to find a path with the minimum worst case regret, since the problem is NP-hard. Computational experiments are carried out to show the performance of the proposed algorithm compared with the mixed integer programming model and Conde's heuristic algorithm.

Today recycling has been one of the most important Issues In industry as it is required to save the limited amount of natural resources and to keep the environment green. In spite of many efforts to increase recycling rate in industry, however, the practical solutions are very limited. The difficulties are caused by the existence of many parts made of diverse materials and their inevitably complicated assembly structures to satisfy different needs. This paper represents a study on the disassembly sequence generator system for parts recycling. With disassembly costs and revenues, the optimum disassembly sequence can be found with a linear programming.

Many industrial products can be assembled in various sequences of assembly operations. To save time and cost in assembly process and to increase the quality of products, it is very important to choose an optimal assembly sequence. In this paper, we propose a methodology that generates an optimal assembly sequence by using the knowledge of experts. First, a product is divided into several sub-assemblies. Next, the disassembly sequences of sub-assembly are generated using disassembly rules and special information can be extracted through the disassembly process. By combining every assembly sequence of sub-assemblies, we can generate all the possible assembly sequences of a product. Finally, the expert system evaluates all the possible assembly sequences and finds an optimal assembly sequence. It can be achieved under consideration of the parameters such as assembly operation, tool change, safety of part. basepart location, setup change, distance, and orientation. The developed system is applied to UBR(Unit Bath Room) example.

In this paper, systemaic approach is studied about assembility and disassemblility of parts of the gear system in order to reduce the assembly cost, and to disassemble products easily which is possible to recycle the parts. That is, an estimation of disassembly and assembly with considering of reliability life. In this study, we use symbolic chart method for an economic model for optimal disassembly and assembly.
Modernity which is superficial phenomenon set off the mass scale for mass consumption and provide uniformly artificial environment. But natural destruction, environment pollution, resources exhaustion and so on has been caused by this and now ecology is threatened by destruction and damage beyond the limitation and human beings survival is even threatened. Accordingly furniture development for environment preservation considered environment problem is the urgent real situation. Recent paradigm is the concept of Eco-design which is the green design possible to live together in symbiosis, and new types of alternative furniture are needed in Korea as well. 'Furniture for disassembly' is presented as new method for alternative furniture. Furniture for disassembly can be presented by mainly two directions. The first main characteristic is what is assembled by the use of woodworking joints technique as an assembly structure system without any hardware. The second is what is presented as the structure possible to be assembled by simple manual tools with hardware without any glue. The advantages of furniture for disassembly are environment preservation, space application, transportation efficiency and shapeliness. In manufacture method which is different from present furniture, the application of traditional truss technique which uses various types of custom-made and connection technique in case of assemble structure system without hardware is the typical differences. This assembly method expects not only interest induction about assembly and disassembly of diagram per sub materials but also the development of emotion, the improvement of collaboration, space perception ability and shape sense, the improvement of solid body structure insight and so on, when it use in the furniture for children with the application to many kinds of structure with BANGDOOSANJ (Wedged), JUMUGJANGBU (Dovetail) or NABIEUNJANG (Dovetail Keys) and so on.

The purpose of this research is to propose a maintenance support system for deciding assembly sequence of the product and appropriate tools that are used to assembly and disassembly of parts in the product when geometric properties of the product. The digital maintenance system (DMS) is developed to generate the maintenance guideline and the initial experiment is conducted especially for an underwater weapon system with cylindrical structure. DMS considers four factors to find the efficient assembly and disassembly procedure automatically: (1) assembly tree, (2) properties of each part, (3) distance from the center of the product, and (4) volume. Based on the factors, DMS simulate the movement of each tool virtually and the properties of tools are investigated to find an appropriate tool for using assembly and disassembly of each part in the product. The proposed approach integrates modeling, simulation, data configuration, and virtual reality to allow a development of preliminary maintenance guidance.
