User-Oriented Augmented 3D UI System Based using DirectShow (DirectShow를 이용한 사용자 중심적 3D 증강 UI 시스템)

  • 최근 3DTV 등의 3D 디스플레이의 공급으로 기존의 입체 콘텐츠뿐만 아니라, 일반 2D 영상도 자동적으로 입체 콘텐츠로 변환하여 3D로 시청할 수 있다. 이러한 콘텐츠를 시청할 때에 주로 사용하는 3D 디스플레이에는 자체적인 UI를 내장하고 있는데, 입체 모드에서의 이러한 UI를 3D로 변환하여 사용할 수 있는 3D UI기술에 대한 관심이 높아지고 있다. 본 논문에서는, 3D UI의 관심도 증가에 따라 좀 더 편리하고 이해도가 높은 3D UI의 개발 방법에 대하여 제안한다. Directshow를 이용하여, 문자와 UI 배경을 합성한다. 여기에 UI의 투명도, 시차, 밝기 등을 조절 가능하게 하여 사용자의 편의에 따라 선택할 수 있게 한다. 사전에 입체로 제작된 실험 영상을 실행하여 그 위에 메뉴 화면, 메뉴 글씨 등을 띄워 입체감 있는 3D UI를 제작, 증강을 체험할 수 있는 3D UI 플레이어를 구현한다.

Development of software demultiplexer for DTV Signal Reception (DTV 수신을 위한 소프트웨어 Demultiplexer 개발)

  • In this paper, a demultiplexer for MPEG-2 Transport Stream which can be applied to terrestrial digital broadcast is developed. The demultiplexer separates video, audio, and data from MPEG-2 multimedia stream and transports them to each decoders respectively. While most existing demultiplexers of MPEG-2 transport stream have been developed as hardware systems, but the fast increment of computer's performance enables a software demultiplexer to be worked in realtime. The developed demultiplexer is implemented as a software module called a filter using DirectShow of Microsoft which is based on COM(Component Object Model)and works on the Windows system. The operation of the demultiplexer is verified by using the GraphEdit tool and rendering a test file formatted as MPEG-2 transport stream.

Implementation of Video Watermarking and Transcoding for High Compression and Copyright protection based on Directshow Environment (다이렉트쇼 환경 기반에서 고압축과 저작권 보호를 위한 비디오 트랜스 코딩과 워터마킹 구현)

  • H.264와 같은 고압축 비디오처리 기법의 등장으로 기존의 MPEG2와 같은 비디오 압축에서 H.264로의 비디오 트랜스코딩이 증가되고 있지만, 고압축 비디오 콘텐츠의 온라인과 오프라인에서 불법배포는 현재 문제가 되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 다이렉트쇼 환경 기반에서 고압축과 저작권 보호를 위한 비디오 트랜스 코딩과 워터마킹을 구현한다. 제안한 방법은 다이렉트쇼의 필터를 이용하여 MPG,WMV를 H.264로 비디오 트랜스코딩을 하고 이와 함께 비디오의 공간영역 특성을 이용하여 저작권 보호를 위한 강인한 워터마킹을 구현한다. 실험 결과 MPG,WMV를 H.264로 트랜스코딩에서 H.264의 QP(Quantization parameter)를 15로 하고 화면간 반복을 10프레임으로 하였을 경우 저작권 보호를 위하여 삽입된 워터마크는 평균 99% 검출됨을 확인하였고, 또한 트랜스코딩중 워터마크삽입에 따른 시간지연은 전체 트랜스코딩시간의 5.7%가 됨을 확인할 수 있었다. 제안한 방법은 저작권 삽입 기능가지는 트랜스코딩 소프트웨어를 필요로 하는 Digital TV방송, IPTV, DVD 사업에 사용 될 수 있을 것이다.

Implementation of Optimized 3D Input & Output Systems for Web-based Real-time 3D Video Communication (웹 기반의 입체 동영상 통신을 위한 3차원 입출력 시스템의 최적화 구현)

  • In this paper, 3D input and output systems for a web-based real-time 3D video communication system using IEEE 1394 digital cameras, Intel Xeon Server system and Microsoft Directshow library is proposed. And some conditions for optimizing the operations of the stereo camera, 3D display and signal processing system are analyzed. Input & output systems are carefully selected, which can satisfy the required optimization conditions and the final 3D video communication system is implemented by using three optimized devices. The overall control system is developed with Microsoft Visual C++.Net and Microsoft DirectX 9.1 SDK. Some experimental results show that the observer can feel the natural presence from multi-view(4-view) 3D video of server system in real-time and also can feel the natural presence from 3D video of client system and finally suggest an application possibility of the proposed web-based real-time 3D video communication in real fields.

Object Tracking System for Additional Service Providing under Interactive Broadcasting Environment (대화형 방송 환경에서 부가서비스 제공을 위한 객체 추적 시스템)

  • In general, under interactive broadcasting environment, user finds additional service using top-down menu. However, user can't know that additional service provides information until retrieval has finished and top-down menu requires multi-level retrieval. This paper proposes the new method for additional service providing not using top-down menu but using object selection. For the purpose of this method, the movie of a MPEG should be synchronized with the object information(position, size, shape) and object tracking technique is required. Synchronization technique uses the Directshow provided by the Microsoft. Object tracking techniques use a motion-based tracking and a model-based tracking together. We divide object into two parts. One is face and the other is substance. Face tracking uses model-based tracking and Substance uses motion-based tracking base on the block matching algorithm. To improve precise tracking, motion-based tracking apply the temporal prediction search algorithm and model-based tracking apply the face model which merge ellipse model and color model.

  • The overlay multicast that has been recently presented as IP alternative for the IP multicast has been getting much persuasion by the computing power of the hardware and the advancement of the network techniques to enforce Routing in application-level. In an overlay multicast, the system resource and the network bandwidth must be utilized efficiently to service real-time HDTV images. Specifically, the system must consider the delay and the jitter that can be incurred at the application-level. In this paper, we implement a server and a client to broadcast HDTV, in the session composed by the existing overlay multicast protocol. The broadcasting server performs the service using a TV tuner, An HDTV camcorder, and files, clients constituting a multicast group relay the received data to other clients. At this time, the information that the clients report periodically, including their delay and the network state, to the server is used as an important information to maintain an overlay session. The implementation is based on the DirectX and its performance is evaluated by the LAN test bed that has been set.

Implementation of Web-based Remote Multi-View 3D Imaging Communication System Using Adaptive Disparity Estimation Scheme (적응적 시차 추정기법을 이용한 웹 기반의 원격 다시점 3D 화상 통신 시스템의 구현)

  • In this paper, a new web-based remote 3D imaging communication system employing an adaptive matching algorithm is suggested. In the proposed method, feature values are extracted from the stereo image pair through estimation of the disparity and similarities between each pixel of the stereo image. And then, the matching window size for disparity estimation is adaptively selected depending on the magnitude of this feature value. Finally, the detected disparity map and the left image is transmitted into the client region through the network channel. And then, in the client region, right image is reconstructed and intermediate views be synthesized by a linear combination of the left and right images using interpolation in real-time. From some experiments on web based-transmission in real-time and synthesis of the intermediate views by using two kinds of stereo images of 'Joo' & 'Hoon' captured by real camera, it is analyzed that PSNRs of the intermediate views reconstructed by using the proposed transmission scheme are highly measured by 30dB for 'Joo', 27dB for 'Hoon' and the delay time required to obtain the intermediate image of 4 view is also kept to be very fast value of 67.2ms on average, respectively.
