Rigorous longitudinal modal transmission-line theory (L-MTLT) is applied to analyze maximum power transfer in asymmetric grating-assisted directional couplers(A-GADC). By defining a coupling efficiency amenable to rigorous analytical solutions and interference between symmetric and asymmetric supermodes, the power exchange of TE modes as a function of propagation distance is numerically evaluated. The numerical result reveals that maximum power transfer occurs at a grating period ${\Lambda}_{eq}$, in which the insertion loss of supermodes is equal to each other. That is, it is generally different from conventional phase-matching condition of GADC. Furthermore, as the asymmetric profile of grating change to symmetrical profile, the coupling length decreases and the coupling efficiency for power transmission increases.

Longitudinal transmission-line modal theory is applied to analyze maximum power transfer in plasmonic grating-assisted directional couplers (P-GADC) based on silicon waveguide. By defining a coupling efficiency amenable to rigorous analytical solutions and interference between even and odd modes, the power exchange of TE modes as a function of propagation distance is evaluated. The numerical result reveals that maximum power transfer occurs at a grating period ${\Lambda}_{eq}=10.26{\mu}m$, in which the insertion loss of supermodes is equal to each other. That is, it is generally different from conventional phase-matching condition or minium gap condition of GADC.
In modern Anti-Submarine Warfare, there are various ways to locate a submarine in a two-dimensional space. For more effective tracking and attack against a submarine the depth of the target is a critical factor. However, it has been difficult to find out the depth of a submarine until now. In this paper a possible solution to the depth estimation of submarines is proposed utilizing DIFAR (Directional Frequency Analysis and Recording) sonobuoy information such as contact bearings at or prior to CPA (Closest Point of Approach) and the target's Doppler signals. The relative depth of the target is determined by applying the Pythagorean theorem to the slant range and horizontal range between the target and the hydrophone of a DIFAR sonobuoy. The slant range is calculated using the Doppler shift and the target's velocity. the horizontal range can be obtained by applying a simple trigonometric function for two consecutive contact bearings and the travel distance of the target. The simulation results show that the algorithm is subject to an elevation angle, which is determined by the relative depth and horizontal distance between the sonobuoy and target, and that a precise measurement of the Doppler shift is crucial.
Coherence describing the similarity between physical quantities of two signals is a very useful tool to investigate the temporal and spatial characteristics of signals propagating in underwater acoustic waveguide. Ambient noise measurements were made by the vertical received array consisting of three hydrophones as part of the KIOST-HYU joint acoustics experiment, and the coherence for the underwater ambient noise was analyzed. In this paper, the coherence results in cases that the generator in the research vessel was off and turned on are presented. The coherence estimated in the case of the generator operation mode are compared to the predictions obtained using the theoretical model with the directional density function dominated by vertical components propagating downward from the ship. In the case of the generator switch-off, the results are compared to the model predictions with directional density function including the effects of sea surface noise and long-distance shipping noise.

We analyzed the excitation coefficients and the extinction ratio as a function of waveguide width, center to center distance, and angle of input waveguide for a directional coupler. The variation of thc difference between excitation coefficients is similar to that of the extinction ratio. Also, the smaller the difference between those is, the better the extinction ratio is. This concept will have application to devices using optical coupling.
In this paper, assuming that local range information is available, a collision-free path planning algorithm for multiple mobile robots is presented by using Hopfield neural optimization network. The energy function of the network is built using the present position and the goal position of each robot as well as its local range information. The proposed algorithm has several advantages such as the effective passing around obstacles with the directional safety distance, the easy implementation of robot motion planning including its rotation, the real-time path planning capability from the totally localized computations of path for each robot, and the adaptivity on arbitrary environment since any special shape of obstacles is not assumed.

On multimedia teleconferencing system existing a number of participants, face of the participants can beperceived by visual image. However, differentiation of each participant's voice and spaciousness sense are very hard since voice of all participants is processed with one dimensional data. In this paper, we implemented three dimensional audio rendering system using the HRTF(Head Related Transfer Function) and distance sense reproduction method and determined the optimal location of the participants for teleconferencing system. In the results of the listening test using elevation and azimuth angle, we showed that directional perception of the azimuth angles were better than that of the elevation angles. Specially, we showed that participant location using the HRTFS of the azimuth angle 10" , 90" , 270" and350" was efficient in teleconferencing system existing four participants. We also proposed that distance cue was used for enhancement of the reality and location of many participants more than five.ipants more than five.
Recently, the successful appointment of the general directorate of GCF (Green Climate Fund) in Songdo of Korea made a great history for the golden triangle with GGGI (global Green Growth Institute) and GTC (Green Technology Center). Now, Korea became the Mecca for the global green growth and it gave a great opportunity foe the Korea to lead the global economy in the future. However, to successfully manage the GCF, the Korean government should show their willingness as well as the readiness for the green prowth and green productivity. It is really hard for the Korea, since it takes the second rank for the growth rate of carbon dioxide emission in the world. To overcome this shameful status, it should make the best effort to promote the green productivity, especially in a field of logistics industry, because it takes 21% of global CO2 emission, the second largest portion. The research aims to systematically introduce the Global Malmquist-Luenberger Index (GML) and to evaluate the logistics industry of Korea based on the GML approach. It concludes the innovative technology is utmost important to improve the green productivity of the logistics industry and thus the Korean government should make more aggressive role to fill this missing link in the innovation network.
Firstly, this study is to compare two types of productivity changes in Seoul's urban bus industry by public transport reforms: one with considering accident costs (ML), the other without considering accident costs (M). The directional distance function (DDF), which is a form of data envelopment analysis, and the Malmquist (Luenberger) productivity index (ML, M) are used for the analysis. The results show that productivity increased regardless of accident costs over time, and the ML index is a little higher than the M index, which means that most firms experienced more of a reduction ratio of accident costs than a reduction ratio of inputs. Secondly, this paper is to analyze how reforms affect productivity changes. The results show that operational speed improvements or passenger increases most affect productivity increases, which means that the installment of median bus lanes or introduction of free transfers among public transport modes were effective in reducing both inputs and accident costs. However, operational system reforms including mid-public management were related with productivity changes but they were not as effective.

This study constructed production frontiers of inputs and outputs in a sequential manner, measured inefficiencies by applying a non-radial sequential weighted Russell directional distance function to these frontiers, and analyzed Luenberg productivity indices and the contribution of each of input and output factor based on these distances. The results are as follows. First, the productivity of banks increased due to technical changes after the global financial crisis. Second, productivity growth decreased between 2009 and 2014 due to technical changes after the recession, as previous studies have shown that technology progressed before the global financial crisis but then largely decreased or remained the same thereafter. After 2014, the productivity of banks improved. This result may be due to both technology improvement after 10 years of stagnation and reduction of inputs and non-performing loans. Third, the 3.6% annual of productivity growth for 10 years was comprised of 1.77% household loans, 0.67% corporate loans, 0.98% manpower, 1.18% non-performing loans, -0.5% total deposits, and -1.25% securities. Finally, this study has limitations since it could not control risks such as capital structure and interest volatility.
