Development of a 6-axis robot′s finger force/moment sensor for stable grasping of an unknown object

  • This paper describes the development of a 6-axis robot's finger force/moment sensor, which measures forces $F_x$(x-direction force), $F_y$and $F_z$, and moments $M_x$ (x-direction moment), $M_y$ and $M_z$ simultaneously, for stable grasping of an unknown object. In order to safely grasp an unknown object using the robot's gripper, the force in the gripping direction and the force in the gravity direction should be measured, and the force control should be performed using the measured forces. Also, the moments $M_x$, $M_y$ and $M_z$ to accurately perceive the position of the object in the grippers should be detected. Thus, the robot's gripper should be composed of 6-axis robot's finger force/moment sensor that can measure forces $F_x$, $F_y$ and $F_z$, and moments $M_x$ $M_y$ and $M_z$ simultaneously. In this paper, the 6-axis robot's finger force/moment sensor for measuring forces $F_x$, $F_y$ and $F_z$, and moments $M_x$ $M_y$ and $M_z$ simultaneously was newly modeled using several parallel-plate beams, designed, and fabricated. The characteristic test of the fabricated sensor was performed, and the result shows that interference errors of the developed sensor are less than 3%. Also, Robot's gripper with the 6-axis robot's finger force/moment sensor for the characteristic test of force control was manufactured, and the characteristic test for grasping an unknown object using the sensors was performed using it. The fabricated gripper could grasp an unknown object stably. Thus, the developed 6-axis robot's finger force/moment sensor can be used for robot's gripper.

A Study on the Development and Characteristics Evaluation of Non-Contact HFCT Sensor for Partial Discharge Measurement (부분방전 측정용 비접촉식 HFCT 센서개발 및 특성평가에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, the sensor such as current transformer type was developed for measuring non-contact partial discharge in power electrical facilities, and the results of the characteristic evaluation were discussed. The frequency response characteristics of the HFCT sensor were shown to be measurable from 20 [kHz] to 20 [MHz]. The average sensitivity for the positive direction was 0.308 [mV/pC], and the negative direction was 0.459 [mV/pC]. Which showed that the sensitivity for the negative direction was better than that for the positive direction. The developed HFCT sensor is possible to measure very small partial discharge pulse signals and can be measured various types of partial discharge that may occur at power electrical facilities.

  • Typical underwater acoustic sensors can measure the scalar quantity of sound-pressure-magnitude with the limitation of being unable to identify the direction of an incoming wave. This paper proposes a method to detect the direction of the sound wave with a ring sensor. The sensor of the proposed structure has a piezoceramic ring divided into eight elements, and distinguishes the direction of the sound wave by properly combining the output voltages of the piezoceramic elements. Further, through the analysis of the effects of the structural parameters like the ring radius and length, and piezoceramic thickness, we have suggested the way to improve the sensitivity of the vector sensor.

  • This paper describes the development of the intelligent gripper with two 3-axis force sensor that can measure forces Fx, Fy, Fz simultaneously, for stably grasping an unknown object. In order to grasp an unknown object using an intelligent gripper softly, it should measure the force in the gripping direction and the force in the gravity direction, and perform the force control using the measured farces. Thus, the intelligent gripper should be composed of 3-axis force sensor that can measure forces Fx, Fy, Fz at the same time. In this paper, the intelligent gripper with two 3-axis force sensor was manufactured and its characteristic test was carried out. The fabricated gripper could grasp an unknown object stably. Also, the sensing element of 3-axis force sensor was modeled and designed with five parallel-plate beams, and 3-axis force sensor for the intelligent gripper was fabricated. The characteristic test of the made sensor was carried out.

  • In this paper, in order to improve the error is utilized to location tracking the smart sensor detects a walking information user, RSSI is to provide an indoor position tracking system that is capable of correcting an error in terms weak. The acceleration sensor is able to detect the activity in the user walking and detects the number of step and the moving distance using the same. The Direction sensor is utilized as a digital compass, to detect the moving direction of the user. As a result of detecting the walking information using the sensor, it can be showed that this proposed indoor positioning system has a high degree of accuracy for the number of steps and the movement direction. Therefore, this paper shows that the proposed technique can correct the error of the location information to be problem in the conventional indoor location system which uses the only Wi-Fi APs by estimating the user's movement direction and distance using the sensors in smartphone without an additional equipment and cost.

Intelligent robotic walker with actively controlled human interaction

  • In this study, we developed a robotic walker that actively controls its speed and direction of movement according to the user's gait intention. Sensor fusion between a low-cost light detection and ranging (LiDAR) sensor and inertia measurement units (IMUs) helps determine the user's gait intention. The LiDAR determines the walking direction by detecting both knees, and the IMUs attached on each foot obtain the angular rate of the gait. The user's gait intention is given as the directional angle and the speed of movement. The two motors in the robotic walker are controlled with these two variables, which represent the user's gait intention. The estimated direction angle is verified by comparison with a Kinect sensor that detects the centroid trajectory of both the user's feet. We validated the robotic walker with an experiment by controlling it using the estimated gait intention.

  • Star sensor provides highly accurate attitude information by imaging the stars in the dark space. The sensor output is disabled when the sensor avoidance of the Sunlight or the Earth's albedo is not satisfied. This paper studies the Sun and Earth avoidance characteristics of the star sensors according to the mounting direction. Then the paper proposes a systematic way of determining the star sensors mounting direction for typical remote sensing missions

  • 내시경을 이용한 진단 및 시술은 빈번하게 이루어지고 있으며, 대장암의 증가와 정부의 암 조기검진사업의 영향으로 시행건수가 많아지면서 천공 및 출혈 등의 의료사고도 늘어나고 있다. 내시경 장비를 이용한 시술은 시술자의 경험이나 감각, 숙련도에 의존하여 시행된다. 내시경 시술시 내시경 선단부의 수평 및 수직, 압력에 대한 실시간 정보를 제공하면 의료사고를 줄일 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 가속도와 자이로센서를 융합하여 각도 및 자세정보를 얻고 압력센서를 이용하여 선단부가 받는 압력을 시술자에게 제공하여 내시경 시술시 천공 및 출혈 등의 의료사고를 줄일 수 있는 방안을 제시한다.

  • A technique for alignment to true north is presented, based on synchronized measurements of vision image by a camera and output voltage of wind direction sensor. The true wind direction is evaluated by means of image processing techniques with least square sense, and then evaluated true value is compared with measured output voltage of the sensor. The proposed technique is applied to real meteorological tower m Daekwanryung test site. In addition, some uncertainty analysis of this method is presented.
