In this paper a direction finding method which can which can estimate the direction angles of source signals impinging on the sensor array in which sensor noises are correlated is studied. This method performs the estimation of source direction angles form sensors, regardless of sensor noise correlation, by eliminating the sensor noise correlation coefficient which can be accurately estimated. Finally, this paper shows, through the computer simulation, that the proposed, method is extremely useful and superior when there exists the noise correlation between sensors, .

Teach pendant is the most widely used means of robot teaching at present. Despite the difficulties of using the motion command buttons on the teach pendant, it is an economical, robust, and effective device for robot teaching task. This paper presents the development of a force/moment direction sensor named COSMO that can improve the teach pendant based robot teaching. Robot teaching experiment of a six axis commercial robot using the sensor is described where operator holds the sensor with a hand, and move the robot by pushing, pulling, and twisting the sensor in the direction of the desired motion. No prior knowledge of the coordinate system is required. The function of the COSMO sensor is to detect the presence f force and moment along the principal axes of the sensor coordinate system. The transducer used in the sensor is micro-switch, and this intuitive robot teaching can be implemented at a very low cost.

This paper describes the design of a two-axis force sensor for robots finger. In detects the x-direction force Fx and y-direction force Fy simultaneously. In order to safely grasp an unknown object using the robots fingers, they should detect the force or gripping direction and the force of gravity direction, and perform the force control using the forces detected. Therefore, the robots hand should be made by the robots finger with tow-axis force sensor that can detect the x-direction force and y-direction force si-multaneously. Thus, in this paper, the two-axis force sensor for robots finger is designed using several parallel-plate beams. The equations to calculate the strain of the beams according to the force in order to design the sensing element of the force sensor are derived and these equations are used to design the aize of two-axis force sensor sensing element. The reliability of the derive equa-tions is verified buy performing a finite element analysis of the sensing element. The strain obtained through this process is compared to that obtained through the theory analysis and a characteristics test of the fabricated sensor. It reveals that the rated strains calculated from the derive equations make a good agreement with the results from the Finite Element Method analysis and from the character-istic test.

When external force is applied to humanoid robot's head, humanoid robot's neck is rotated to prevent the damage of it. So, robot's neck have to perceive forces (Fx of x-direction, Fy of y-direction and Fz of z-direction) and moments (Mx of x-direction, My of y-direction and Mz of z-direction) using the attached 6-axis force/moment sensor. Thus, in this paper, 6-axis force/moment sensor was developed to sense the forces and moments applied to robot's head. The structure of 6-axis force/moment sensor was modeled newly, and it was designed using FEM software (ANSYS) and manufactured by attaching straingages on the sensing element, finally, the characteristic test of the sensor was carried out. As a result, it is confirmed that interference error is less than 3%. And, it is thought that the sensor can be used to measure the forces and the moments for humanoid robot's head.

In this paper, we proposed indoor positioning system with improved accuracy. The proposed indoor location measurement system is based pedestrian location measurement method that use the embedded sensor of smartphone. So, we do not need wireless external resources, such as GPS or WiFi signals. The conventional methods measure indoor location by generating a movement route of pedestrian by step and direction recognition. In this paper, to correct the direction sensor error, we use the common feature of the normal indoor floor map that the indoor path is lattice-structured. And we quantize moving directions depending on the direction of indoor path. In addition, we propose moving direction measuring method using geomagnetic sensor and gyro sensor to improve the accuracy. Also, the proposed step detection method uses angle and accelerometer sensors. The proposed step detection method is not affected by the posture of the smartphone. Direction errors caused by direction sensor error is corrected due to proposed moving direction measuring method. The proposed location error correction method corrects location error caused by step detection error without the need for external wireless signal resources.

A quantitative performance evaluation of a robot teaching method using a force/moment direction sensor is presented. The performance of the teaching method using the force/moment direction sensor is compared with the conventional teaching pendant method. Two types of teaching tasks were designed and the teaching times required to complete the teaching tasks were measured and compared. Task A requires a teaching motion that involves four degrees of freedom motion. Task B requires a teaching motion that involves six degrees of freedom motion. It was found that, by using the force/moment direction sensor method, the teaching times were reduced by 25% for Task A and 45% for Task B compared to the teaching pendant method.
Change detections is carried out under the assumption that pixel boundaries of geometrically corrected time series satellite images cover the same location. However that assumption can be wrong when shifts in the pointing direction of a satellite sensor occurs. Currently, although the influence of misregistration on landcover change detection has been investigated, there has been little research on the influence of pointing direction shifts of a satellite sensor. In this study, a simple method for reducing the effects of pointing direction shifts of a satellite sensor is proposed: the classification of two ASTER images was carried out using the linear spectral mixture analysis, the two classification results were resampled into a geometrically fixed grid, and then the change detection of the two ASTER images was carried out by comparing the resampled classification results of the two images. The proposed method showed high performance in discriminating between changed areas and unchanged areas by removing the pointing direction shifts of a satellite sensor.
This paper present a sensor based obstacle avoidance method which is based on a VFH(Vector Field Histogram) method. The basic idea of obstacle avoidance is to find a minimum obstacle direction and distance. From the minimum sonar index and the target direction high level system determine steering angle of mobile robot. The sonar sensor system consists of 12 ultra sonic sensor, and each sensor have its direction and safety value. This method has advantage on calculation speed and small memory. This method is implemented on indoor autonomous vehicle'ALiVE-2'.

This paper describes the development of a small 6-axis force/moment sensor for robot's finger, which measures farces Fx, Fy, Fz, and moments Mx, My, Mz simultaneously. In order to safely grasp an unknown object using the robot's gripper, and accurately perceive the position of it in the gripper, it should measure the force in the gripping direction, the force in the gravity direction and the moments each direction, and perform the force control using the measured forces and moments. Also, it should detect the moments Mx (x-direction moment), My and Mz to accurately perceive the position of the object in the grippers. Thus, the robot's gripper should be composed of 6-axis force/moment sensor that can measure forces Fx, Fy, Fz, and moments Mx, My, Mz simultaneously. In this paper, the small 6-axis force/moment sensor for measuring forces Fx, Fy, Fz, and moments Mx, My, Mz simultaneously was newly modeled using several parallel-plate beams, designed, and fabricated. The characteristic test for the developed sensor was performed, and the result shows that intereference errors of the developed sensor are less than 4.23%. Thus, the developed small 6-axis force/moment sensor may be used a robot's gripper.
The celestial navigation is one of alternatives to GPS system and can be used as a backup of GPS. In the celestial navigation system using more than two star trackers, the vehicle's ground position can be solved based on the star trackers' attitude information if the vehicle's local vertical or horizontal angle is given. In order to determine accurate ground position of flight vehicle, the high accurate local vertical angle measurement is one of the most important factors for navigation performance. In this paper, the Earth geophysical deflection was analyzed in the assumption of using the modern electrolyte tilt sensor as a local vertical sensor for celestial navigation system. According to the tilt sensor principle, the sensor measures the tilt angle from gravity direction which depends on the Earth geoid surface at a given position. In order to determine the local vertical angle from tilt sensor measurement, the relationship between the direction of gravity and the direction of the Earth center should be analyzed. Using a precision orbit determination software which includes the JGM-3 Earth geoid model, the direction of the Earth center and the direction of gravity are extracted and analyzed. Appling vector inner product and cross product to the both extracted vectors, the magnitude and phase of deflection angle between the direction of gravity and the direction of the Earth center are achieved successfully. And the result shows that the angle differences vary as a function of latitude and altitude. The maximum 0.094$^{circ}$angle difference occurs at 45$^{circ}$latitude in case of 1000 Km altitude condition.
