Purpose: The study was aimed to assess the competency and professional attitude of school health nurses who are occupied with adolescent health, and to provide basic information for the development of continuing education programs for them to improve their competencies. Method: The self-reported questionnaire based on WHO assessment tool were used to assess the competencies of the school health nurses providing health care for adolescents. The subjects were 584 school health nurses and the data were collected from January 28 to March 5, 2002. Result: The school health nurses in middle schools showed significantly higher scores than the school health nurses in primary schools on the level of competency. The nurses were scored the highest in the area of dealing with sexual issues for the students, followed by providing them direct care and application of primary care concept to the field of school health nursing. The areas showing the lowest scores were counseling and utilization of the system. There was a significant positive correlation between competency and professional attitude of the school health nurses. Conclusion: Based on the results of this study, it is necessary to develop various continuing educational programs for school health nurses using different teaching methods such as web-based program.
The aim of this study is to show that using a Web-Based Instruction system is a better method to help counteract deficient teaching, learning conditions and facilities thus improving the students' interest, understanding, participation and skill development in Physical Education. The key findings of this study are as follows; The first advantage of using this system is that the theory of Softball is explained with the use of pictures rather than text, thus improving the students' understanding. The second is the method in which practical skills are explained and demonstrated. Action image sequences are used as opposed to the old method of using stationary pictures. This means that the learners can clearly see and understand why and, more importantly, how to use these skills. The third advantage is the technique used to teach the application of these skills. Using active rather than passive learning and thus engaging the student encourages improved participation and learning. The fourth advantage comes in evaluation: both subjective and objective questions are asked in theoretical evaluation, and the teachers can evaluate the students' understanding and skill development by filming their actual Softball games. The visiting nursing service is an essential part of public health. The purpose of this study was to analyze the visiting nursing service in primary health service centers. The data were collected from visiting nurse records in Wonju City Health Center, Myun Health Center and Community Health Subcenters. The period of data collection was from April 6 to July 15, 1998. The major findings were as follows: 1. Characteristics of 36 service providers. 1) Age : Over 40 years old - 66.7% 2) Educational level: The proportion of registered nurses was 47.2% and nurse aids 52.8% 3) Career: The proportion of providers who worked over 11 years in Public Health Service was 7.8% 2. Characteristics of Subjects 1) The major health problems were cerebro vascular attack, hypertension, D. M., arthritis, gastrointestinal problems and psychiatric problems. The prevalence of chronic health problems increased with age, except for mental illness. 2) The prevalence of cancer was 4.3/1000. 3. Contents of Home Visiting Nursing Services. 1) The major service was education and counseling. 2) The other services were Direct Care(ROM exercise, wound care, physical therapy, basic nursing care etc,) as 56.5%, of the work involved Indirect Care(teaching, counseling, emotional support, etc,) 30.3%, medication - 11.7%, and referral to hospitals - 1.5%.
This study aims to point out the basic strategy of agrotechnical and -political approaches toward successful settling for the environmental agriculture system in Korea. Although environmental agriculture & forestry strategy toward the 21st century and it's action program were released in 1996, some scientist from environmental agriculture and organic agriculture still argue on the errors of it's strategy and action program in terms of environmental sound functions. Especially it's strategy and action program of government did not focus the reduction of fertilizer and pesticide as the matters of weight and importance to reduction of fertilizer and pesticide as the matters of weight and importance to realize an environmental sound agriculture system. And korean organic agriculture gets a point in dispute, because 1) they do not practice of Basic Standard of IFOAM and FAO/WHO Codex draft, and 2) organic farming is defined quite differently from internationally recognized core aspects of organic agriculture. Organic farming, in Korea, is taken to mean the replacement of chemical fertilizer by organic manure and avoidance of agricultural chemicals. In the paper it is discussed the necessity, purpose, effect and consequence of basic standard for korean organic agriculture. The reformation of the certification system and t he direct payment system in environmental agriculture & forestry strategy toward the 21st century and it's action program by government, and on the need of the teaching program and curriculum in high education institution, the breeding program of resistant cultivars, the soil testing for optimum fertilization strategy, the nutrient management program, the declaration for 2020 environemntal agriculture are also discussed.
Anemia is a common problem in sick dogs, and immune-mediated hemolytic anemia (IMHA) is one of the most common causes of anemia in dogs. Since death can occur rapidly in dogs with IMHA even with appropriate treatment, it is important to differentiate IMHA from other causes of anemia in its first stages. To diagnose underlying diseases in anemic dogs and differentiate IMHA cases from others, 29 patient dogs suffering from severe anemia that had been referred to Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital at a National University from June 2004 to April 2005 were examined. The most common cause of anemia in the patient dogs was found to be liver disease accounting for 31.0% (9/29) of all, and the second most common was IMHA with 13.7% (4/29). Four dogs confirmed as IMHA cases all reacted positive to direct anti-globulin test and showed spherocytes and polychromatic erythrocytes in the blood smear. Most of the IMHA cases (3/4) were female aged 2 to 7 years and were in a severe state of anemia with less than 20% of PCV.

The purpose of this study was to analyze relationships among science achievement, science process skills and affective perception of high school students. The affective perception was included attitude toward science and science anxiety in the study. The instruments were developed HARS and SAMS for this study. The subject was sampled 1,115 students by stratified cluster sampling method. The major findings of this study were as follows: The tendency to affective perception was investigated according to students variables. Atittude toward science was showed a negative perception on female than male, in rural area than city. Science anxiety was percepted highly on female than male, in rural area than city. Attitude toward science showed positive relations to science process skills, science achievement, but which showed negative relation to science anxiety. Science anxiety showed negative relations among science process skills, science achievement and attitude toward science. Structural relationships among affective perception, science process skills and science achievement were analyzed by effect size through the path analysis on the independent and dependent variables. By the results, it was indicated that there have significant direct effect not only affective perception influence on science achievement but also on science process skills in hypothesized model. Prediction of science achievement and science process skills were clarified to characteristics of the affective perception.Therefore, understanding about affective perception will be helpful to make the strategy of science teaching
Purpose: This study was conducted to explore the current usage of high integration mannequin human patient simulators (hereafter HPS) in nursing education. Methods: Thirty-two faculty members in 11 nursing schools participated in this survey. the questionnaire consisted of some multiple-choice questions and open questions to collect data on the experience of faculty members with using HPS as well as quantitative information. Results: The faculty members who used HPS in their classes recognized the need to use simulation in nursing education. They identified the advantages of simulation education as promoting adaptation to the clinical environment(46.9%), promoting self-confidence(28.1%), promoting critical thinking(28.15), and making direct nursing skill practice available(28.1%). However, they considered the obstacles to the use of simulation in nursing education to be insufficient manpower(62.5%), insufficient time(40.6%), and difficulty in preparing a teaching strategy(34.4%). Conclusion: HPS is useful in nursing education, but systematic plans and policies regarding on its operation are needed to confirm its effectiveness. The results of this study generally provide a basic information for use of HPS in nursing education.
A five-year-old, female Great Dane dog with edema, localized trauma, mild pain, and lameness of the right hind limb was referred to the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital of Chungbuk National University. This dog had a history of mammary tumor excisions 6 months ago. Abnormal changes were not seen in the values of complete blood count and serum biochemical tests. But pedal direct lymphangiography using aqueous-based radiographic agent showed the obstructed lymph flow in right popliteal lymph node. Based on these observations, the dog was suspected as lymphedema resulted from lymph drainage flilure without any other possibilities of inflammation or other causes. Although recommended chemotherapy and physiotherapy had been applied for resolvinr presented problems for one month, there was no improvement on edema of damaged region and any other clinical signs. Therefore, the necropsy was performed after euthanasia under agreement of the owner of patient. In histopatholofical examination, the most characteristic lesions in the mass of femoral region were diffuse edema fibrosis and neoplastic cells in the lymphatics. Also, the neoplastic cells were very similar to those found in the tumor mass of mammary gland, which had diagnosed as fibrosing carcinoma. These facts suggested that the cause of obstructed lymph flow was the neoplasia in lymphatics of the right hind limb. With these results, a diagnosis of malignant lymphedema was made in this dog.
This study aims to analyze the effects of explicit lexical collocation instruction on grammatical collocation knowledge, by focusing on the preposition collocations. The forty participants consisting of twenty men and twenty women are currently freshmen English majors in college. They responded to the questionnaire on their basic lexical learning strategies in pre-post tests, and carried out a lexical collocation test and a preposition collocation test as pre-post tests. They took the open class on the lexical collocations(LC) 5 times, but they did not concretely study any grammatical collocations(GC). Each test is analyzed and compared with pre-post tests by SPSS 12.0. From all the analyses, it was first revealed that most students who didn't know about the concepts, types and uses of collocations became aware of them after the class. The effects of the lexical collocations on the lexical collocation knowledge were quite revealing. Second, the correlations between the lexical collocations and grammatical collocations were not significant, although relations among the lexical collocations were quite significant. Finally, some suggestions for methods of mixed lexical chunks instruction are made for students' productive skills. Also, it is suggested that more profound attention should be paid to giving direct instructions on the basis of the lexico-grammatical continuum between LC and GC.

This study is attempted to explore direction for the schooling related 5-school-day week. For this end, first, the social background and educational meaning for the 5-school-day week were reviewed. It was found that there is a close connection between 5-school-day week and 5-work-day week. And learning by direct and actual experience is emphasized. Second, The present condition of the schooling were analysed. It was examined the guidelines for curriculum organization and time allotment proposed the 2009 revised national curriculum. Also, It was checked the educational background and qualifications, for example ratio of students to teaching staff, office of education, local government etc. Third, the direction for the schooling for 5-school-day week were discussed. The object of research related to the 5-school-day week was the applicabilities and limits of 2009 revised national curriculum. Also, It is necessary to establish a system of education office in local to work with the local government.
