  • In this paper, exact closed-form expressions for outage probability and bit error probability (BEP) are presented for multi-hop decode-and-forward (DF) relaying schemes in conjunction with cooperative diversity, in which selection combining technique is employed at each node. We have shown that the proposed protocol offers remarkable diversity advantage over direct transmission as well as the conventional DF relaying schemes with the same combining technique. We then investigate the system performance when different diversity schemes are employed. It has been observed that the system performance loss due to selection combining relative to maximal ratio combining is not significant. Simulations are performed to confirm our theoretical analysis.

  • This paper proposes a novel beehive-shaped reflector for application to light-emitting diode (LED) transceivers for illumination and bi-directional visible light communication (VLC). By using a diffuse propagation model extended to line-of-sight and direct signals, the distribution of illuminance and the path loss of the transceiver are investigated to evaluate the performance of the beehive-shaped reflector. To verify bi-directional communication, a VLC-based image capture system, comprising a complementary metal-oxide semiconductor (CMOS) image sensor and video processor unit, is demonstrated. Real-time images captured by the CMOS camera are successfully transmitted to the monitoring system via a free-space channel at a rate of 115.2 kbps.

  • In this paper, we present a DSP-based high dynamic performance torque control scheme of variable reluctance motors(VRM's) for DD(Direct Drive) robots via function inversion technique. The VRM with our controller behaves like DC motors, and hence developed torque tracks given torque command accurately with no torque ripples. Furthermore, our torque control algorithm ensures the production of maximum constant torque under maximum current limitation, minimizes power loss in each phase resistance, and takes magnetic saturation effect into account. Also, since our control algorithm is represented in the form of look-up table, it can be easily implemented with simple digital circuits and this tabular design method is computationally more accurate and simpler compared to the prior methods.

  • Consumer dissatisfaction and complaints make it difficult for online shopping mall to maintain existing customers and attract new customers, which may result in a direct profit loss. The primary purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between customer dissatisfaction in terms of product-complaints and website complaints and complaint behaviors in terms of individual, public, and 3rd party complaint behaviors. Th results indicate that product-dissatisfaction is significantly related to the public and 3rd party complaint behaviors, but not the individual complaint behavior. Website dissatisfaction was not found to be significantly related to any complaint behavior. The moderate effect of sex and individual attitude on the relationship between customer dissatisfaction and complaint behaviors was also not considerable.

  • Molar extrusion is a quite common problem in prosthodontic patients. It is caused due to the loss or infraocclusion of opposing teeth. A more conservative approach than reduction of the coronal part of extruded tooth is to intrude the malaligned molar orthodontically. Several authors have presented the cases of molar intrusion, by cither removable or fixed appliances. However, the design of those appliances was complex so that many teeth were included as an anchorage unit. This increased the patient's discomfort inevitably. Moreover, the results could be unpredictable. Instead of these conventional methods, skeletal anchorage has been suggested for ideal force system to intrude a molar without any side effects. Many recent clinical reports presented the cases using microscrew or miniplate as a direct anchorage, which included some limitation. The purpose of this report is to introduce the indirect skeletal anchorage for intrusion of extruded maxillary molar.

  • In this paper, we fabricate multi-channel receiver for radar system. This receiver at X-band can be received 8 signal of an identical characteristic, dynamic range has more than 80[dB]. To process direct received signals, this system has the built-in two digital de-modulators which offer the minimum loss on the receiving signal path and has high stability by adding Built-In Test. The gain, noise figure, difference of amplitude and phase on the signal path is respectively $14{\pm}2$[dB], 19[dB], ${\pm}2$[dB], $10^{\circ}$ and below.

  • Static electricity in electronics manufacturing plants causes the economic loss, yet it is one of the least understood and least recognized effects haunting the industry today. Today's challenge in semiconductor devices is to achieve greater functional density pattern and to miniaturize electronic systems of being more fragile by electrostatic discharges(ESD) phenomena. As the use of automatic handling equipment for static-sensitive semiconductor components is rapidly increased, most manufacturers need to be more alert to the problem of ESD. One of the most common causes of electrostatic damage is the direct transfer of electrostatic charge from the human body or a charged material to the static-sensitive devices. To evaluate the ESD hazards by charged human body and devices, in this paper, characteristics of electrostatic attenuation in domestic semiconductor devices is investigated and the voltage to cause electronic component failures is investigated by field-induced charged device model(FCDM) tester. The FCDM simulator provides a fast and inexpensive test that faithfully represents ESD hazards in plants. Also the results obtained in this paper can be used for the prevention of semiconductor failure from ESD hazards.

  • This study proposed a high efficiency DC-DC converter with a new current doubler rectifier for fuel-cell systems for use with the Nexa(310-0027) PEMFC from the Ballard Co. The proposed high efficiency DC-DC converter for the fuel-cell system generated ZVS by applying partial resonance and using a phase shift PWM control method. Constantly switching frequency, loss of switching, peak current, and peak voltage were reduced by this system. In addition to this system, two inductors were attached to a rectifier circuit allowing it to be able to provide the direct current(DC) and DC voltage safely to a load with reduced ripple components. Also, by using the newly proposed current doubler rectifier, the high frequency DC-DC converter for the fuel cell system was capable of reaching a highest efficiency of 92[%] as compared to 88.3[%] efficiency in previous results, which means that efficiency increased 3.7[%]. The overall results were confirmed by a simulation and laboratory experiment.

  • Hyperbranched poly(ether sulfone) analogs with the 1,3,5-s-triazine moiety were prepared by the direct polymerization of AB$_2$type monomer, 2,4-bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)-6-(4-(4-(4-fluorobenzenesulfonyl)phenoxy)phenyl)-1,3,5-s-triazine (3). The selective reactivity of three chlorine atoms on cyanuric chloride toward nucleophiles provides an efficient route for the systematic synthesis of AB$_2$type triazine monomers and their hyperbranched polymers. The triazine rings influenced the structural and material characteristics of these hyperbranched polymers. The hyperbranched poly(ether sulfone) analog4 showed a glass transition at 295$^{\circ}C$. and was soluble in THF, 1,4-dioxane, and DMSO. An excellent thermal stability of polymer 4 was exhibited by a TGA analysis, which showed that 5% weight loss occurred at 480$^{\circ}C$.

  • This paper deals with stand-alone Photovoltaic system(SPVS) with charge and discharge controller. Main power source of SPVS are generally solar cell and battery. Therefore SPVS can be classified into variable types in accordance with connection method between battery and solar cell array. Mainly used one of them is direct connection type which has advantages such as simple structure and simple controller. However most big drawback of this system is energy loss by voltage disharmony between solar cell array and battery. Therefore SPVS with charge and discharge controller which can operate solar cell array at maximum power point is designed and experimented with a laboratory prototype.
