  • As the attachable-type wearable devices have received considerable interests, the need for the development of high-performance electrode materials of fabric or textiles type is emerging. In this study, we demonstrated the electrochemical property of CNT fibers electrode as a flexible electrode material and its non-enzymatic glucose sensing performance. Surface morphology of CNT fibers was observed by SEM. And the electrochemical characteristics were investigated by cyclic voltammetry, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and chronoamperometry. The CNT fibers based sensor exhibited improved sensing performances such as high sensitivity, a wide linear range, and low detection limit due to improved electrochemical properties such as low capacitive current, good electrochemical activity by efficient direct electron transfer between the redox species and the electrode interface. Therefore, this study is expected to be used as a basic research for the development of high performance flexible electrode materials based on CNT fibers.

  • The automated dental cavity detection program for a new concept intra-oral dental x-ray imaging device, an auxiliary diagnosis system, which is able to assist a dentist to identify dental caries in an early stage and to make an accurate diagnosis, was to be developed. The primary theory of the automatic dental cavity detection program is divided into two algorithms; one is an image segmentation skill to discriminate between a dental cavity and a normal tooth and the other is a computational method to analyze feature of an tooth image and take an advantage of it for detection of dental cavities. In the present study, it is, first, evaluated how accurately the DRLSE (Direct Regularized Level Set Evolution) method extracts demarcation surrounding the dental cavity. In order to evaluate the ability of the developed algorithm to automatically detect dental cavities, 7 tooth phantoms from incisor to molar were fabricated which contained a various form of cavities. Then, dental cavities in the tooth phantom images were analyzed with the developed algorithm. Except for two cavities whose contours were identified partially, the contours of 12 cavities were correctly discriminated by the automated dental caries detection program, which, consequently, proved the practical feasibility of the automatic dental lesion detection algorithm. However, an efficient and enhanced algorithm is required for its application to the actual dental diagnosis since shapes or conditions of the dental caries are different between individuals and complicated. In the future, the automatic dental cavity detection system will be improved adding pattern recognition or machine learning based algorithm which can deal with information of tooth status.

  • In an APT attack, the communication stage between infected hosts and C&C(Command and Control) server is the key stage for intrusion into the attack target. Attackers can control multiple infected hosts by the C&C Server and direct intrusion and exploitation. If the C&C Server is exposed at this stage, the attack will fail. Therefore, in recent years, the Domain Generation Algorithm (DGA) has replaced DNS in C&C Server with a short time interval for making detection difficult. In particular, it is very difficult to verify and detect all the newly registered DNS more than 5 million times a day. To solve these problems, this paper proposes a model to judge DGA-DNS detection by the morphological similarity analysis of normal DNS and DGA-DNS, and to determine the sign of APT attack through it, then we verify its validity.

  • A mobile laser-induced breakdown detection (LIBD) system was developed for the field measurement of the size and concentration of aquatic colloidal nanoparticles sampled from Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute Underground Research Tunnel (KURT). The established LIBD apparatus is based on the optical detection of a laser-induced plasma by means of a two-dimensional optical imaging method for determining the size of nanoparticle. Calibration curve for determining the size of nanoparticle was obtained from the polystyrene reference particles of a well-defined size. The first direct application was made at KURT for investigating the particle sizes in groundwater. By comparing the size of particles in groundwater with the sizes of reference particles, the mean particle size of approximately $108{\pm}26$ nm with the concentration lower than 50 ppb was determined.

  • In this paper, the DS(direct sequence)-CDMA and MC(multi-carrier)-CDMA, which are being researched recently as a synchronous IMT-2000 scheme for next-generation mobile multimedia communications, are studied in terms of BER(bit error rate) performance. The BER performance of MC-CDMA with EGB, MRC, and improved MMSEC detection scheme are analyzed and compared to that of conventional DS-CDMA adopting RAKE receiver through the computer simulations under the environments of synchronous IMT-2000 transmission channel. Not only single user case but also multiuser case is considered in the given system. As a result, it is shown that MC-CDMA with MMSEC detection outperforms all other schemes improved the $E_b/N_o$ by about 5 [dB] and 6 [dB] when the BER is $2{\times}10^{-3}$, for the indoor/outdoor fading channel and synchronous IMT-2000 transmission channel, respectively. Also in the multiuser case, MC-CDMA with MMSEC detection scheme exhibits better performance than all the other schemes.

  • In this paper, we propose DDS(Direct Digital Synthesizer) as a new implementation method of chirp LO(Local Oscillator) for compressive receiver applied for RFID signal detection in UHF band. We designed a receiver whose input frequency range is 908.5~914 MHz, DDL(Dispersive Delay Line) bandwidth is 6 MHz, and dispersion delay time is $13\;{\mu}s$. Chirp LO based on DDS is designed to meet $26\;{\mu}s$ sweep time and 12 MHz bandwidth for complete compressive mechanism. The measured 3 dB pulse width of the compressed signal of the fabricated receiver is 260 ns and the frequency resolution for simultaneous input signals is below 200 kHz. These performances indicate that the proposed chirp LO based on DDS and the compressive receiver is suitable for RFID signal detection in UHF band.

  • Optoelectronic arc discharge sensor was used to detect arc discharge inside power distribution panel. Arc discharge is fatal to power system once it begins, thus preventive detection is necessary before power failure occurs. Optoelectronic detection method was used to avoid direct electrical contact to power apparatus inside power distribution panel. 180 degree detection angle and detection range far exceeding 6m, which was sufficient for monitoring purpose, was achieved using the photodiode having $7.5mm^2$ of active surface area and flash source with $0.4cal/cm^2$ energy density, which is equivalent to 1.9J with $2.16cm^2$ emitting area. The response speed of arc discharge sensor was measured to be below 1 msec. The above optoelectronic arc discharge sensor was measured to be sensitive enough to detect 0.94 pC charge.

  • A lead slowing down spectrometer (LSDS) is under development for analysis of isotopic fissile material contents in pyro-processed material, or spent fuel. Many current commercial fissile assay technologies have a limitation in accurate and direct assay of fissile content. However, LSDS is very sensitive in distinguishing fissile fission signals from each isotope. A neutron spectrum analysis was conducted in the spectrometer and the energy resolution was investigated from 0.1eV to 100keV. The spectrum was well shaped in the slowing down energy. The resolution was enough to obtain each fissile from 0.2eV to 1keV. The detector existence in the lead will disturb the source neutron spectrum. It causes a change in resolution and peak amplitude. The intense source neutron production was designed for ~E12 n's/sec to overcome spent fuel background. The detection sensitivity of U238 and Th232 fission chamber was investigated. The first and second layer detectors increase detection efficiency. Thorium also has a threshold property to detect the fast fission neutrons from fissile fission. However, the detection of Th232 is about 76% of that of U238. A linear detection model was set up over the slowing down neutron energy to obtain each fissile material content. The isotopic fissile assay using LSDS is applicable for the optimum design of spent fuel storage to maximize burnup credit and quality assurance of the recycled nuclear material for safety and economics. LSDS technology will contribute to the transparency and credibility of pyro-process using spent fuel, as internationally demanded.

  • We proposed blink based online speller for the locked-in syndrome (LIS) patients, paralyzed in nearly all voluntary muscles expect for the eyes, with a simple and easy-to-use eye blink detection glasses. Electrooculogram (EOG) is the golden standard method of eye movement or blink measurement with Ag/AgCl electrodes. However, this method has several drawbacks such as skin irritation and dehydration of conductive gel. To resolve the shortcomings, we used a blink detection system based on a transparent capacitively coupled electrode, which is conductive indium tin oxide (ITO) films. The films make it possible to measure eye blink without direct skin contact and obstruction of field of view. We finally developed user-friendly blink based online speller with the blink detection system. To classify voluntary and non-voluntary blink, we used the double blink for command of the speller. The online speller experiment result with six healthy subjects shows that mean accuracy is 98.96% and letter per minute (LPM) is 4.73, which are better result by comparison with conventional P300 or auditory brain-computer interface (BCI) paradigm. The result of the experiment demonstrates the possibility of applying the proposed system as a communication method for the LIS patients.

  • In this study, we have developed a new detection method using Si field effect transistor (FET)-type biosensors, which enables the direct monitoring of antigen-antibody binding within very high-ionic-strength solutions such as 1$\times$PBS and human serum. In the new method, as no additional dilution or desalting processes are required, the FET-type biosensors can be more suitable for ultrasensitive and real-time analysis of raw sample solutions. The new detection scheme is based on the observation that the strength of antigen-antibody-specific binding is significantly influenced by the ionic strength of the reaction solutions. For a prostate specific antigen (PSA), in some conditions, the binding reaction between PSA and anti-PSA in a low-ionic strength reaction solution such as 10 ${\mu}M$ phosphate buffer is weak (reversible), while that in high-ionic strength reaction solutions such as 1$\times$PBS or human serum is strong.
