Numerical algorithms for solving the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations using P2P1 finite element are compared regarding the eigenvalues of matrices. P2P1 element allocates pressure at vertex nodes and velocity at both vertex and mid nodes. Therefore, compared to the P1P1 element, the number of pressure variables in the P2P1 element decreases to 1/4 in the case of two-dimensional problems and to 1/8 in the three-dimensional problems. Fully-implicit-integrated, semi-implicit- integrated and semi-segregated finite element formulations using P2P1 element are compared in terms of elapsed time, accuracy and eigenvlue distribution (condition number). For the comparison, they have been applied to the well-known benchmark problems. That is, the two-dimensional unsteady flows around a fixed circular cylinder and decaying vortex flow are adopted to check spatial accuracy.
The roll die forming (RDF) process is a new manufacturing technique for producing gear parts such as clutch drum and clutch hub in automotive transmission. In the RDF process, the material is deformed by a roll installed on a die set. Excellent productivity, low forming load and improved dimensional accuracy have quantitatively been shown to be the benefits of the RDF. In this study, the RDF process is applied to manufacture a clutch hub with a gear shaped part. A finite element (FE) analysis was performed in order to investigate the material strain field and dimension of the final product. Based on the result of the FE analysis, a RDF experiment was performed and the dimensional accuracy of the final product was validated. This work demonstrates that RDF is a process capable of producing a sound clutch hub.
The cross sectional shape of intermediate die is one of important parameters to improve dimensional accuracy of final product in shaped drawing process. Until now, it has been designed by the experience or trial and error of the expert. In this study, the cross sectional shape of intermediate die for spline shape is determined by the electric fields analysis and scale factor method. The result of the electric fields analysis and scale factor method have been compared with that of the expert method. The effects of cross sectional shape on the dimensional accuracy were investigated by using FE-simulation. And then the multi-stage shaped drawing experiments were performed to verify the results of FE-simulation. As a result, the cross sectional shape from the electric fields analysis and scale factor method had the good dimensional accuracy. These two methods can be used for the method to obtain the cross sectional shape of intermediate die in shaped drawing process.
A radio frequency(R/F) switch connector is widely used in wireless devices such as mobile phone and navigator to check defects of the circuit board of product. The R/F switch connector shell plays a role in protecting the switch connector. Previously, this part was machined using a turning, which is time-consuming and has poor material utilization. Furthermore, the workpiece material of brass containing lead that has excellent machinability has environmentally regulated during recent years. The purpose of the current study was to develop the connector shell by forming through progressive dies including embossing, burring and forging process in order to achieve higher productivity and dimensional accuracy without tool failure. To accomplish this objective, a strip layout was designed and finite element (FE) analysis was performed for each step in the process. Try-out for the connector shell was conducted using progressive die design based on FE-analysis results. Dimensional accuracy of developed part was investigated by scanning electron microscopy. The result of the investigation for the dimensions of the formed connector shell showed that the required dimensional accuracy was satisfied. Moreover, productivity using the progressive die increased four times compared to previous machining process.

A more complete two-dimensional vertical numerical model has been developed to describe the saltwater intrusion in an estuary. The model is based on the previous studies in order to obtain a better accuracy. The non-linear terms of the governing equations are analyzed and the $\sigma$-coordinate system is employed in the vertical direction with full transformation which is recently issued in several studies because numerical errors can be generated during the coordinate transformation of the diffusion term. The advection terms of the governing equations are discretized by an upwind scheme in second-order of accuracy. By employing an explicit scheme for the longitudinal direction and an implicit scheme for the vertical direction, the numerical model is free from the restriction of temporal step size caused by a relatively small grid ratio. In previous researches, some terms induced from the transformation have been intentionally excluded since they are asked the complicate discretization of the numerical model. However, the lack of these terms introduces significant errors during the numerical simulation of scalar transport problems, such as saltwater intrusion and sediment transport in an estuary. The numerical accuracy attributable to the full transformation is verified by comparing results with a previous model in a simply sloped topography. The numerical model is applied to the Han River estuary. Very reasonable agreements for salinity intrusion are observed.
Conventional (SRS) and fractionated (FSRS) stereotactic radiosurgery necessarily require stringent overall target point accuracy and precision. We determine three-dimensional intracranial target point deviations (TPDs) in a whole treatment procedure using magnetic resonance image (MRI)-based polymer-gel dosimetry, and suggest a technique for overall system tests. TPDs were measured using a custom-made head phantom and gel dosimetry. We calculated TPDs using a treatment planning system. Then, we compared TPDs using mid bi-plane and three-dimensional volume methods with spherical and elliptical targets to determine their inherent analysis errors; finally, we analyzed regional TPDs using the latter method. Average and maximum additive errors for ellipses were 0.62 and 0.69 mm, respectively. Total displacements were 0.92 ${\pm}$ 0.25 and 0.77 ${\pm}$ 0.15 mm for virtual SRS and FSRS, respectively. Average TPDtotal at peripheral regions was greater than that at central regions for both. Overall system accuracy was similar to that reported previously. Our technique could be used as an overall system accuracy test that considers the real radiation field shape.

The information retrieval domain deals with the retrieval of unstructured data such as text documents. Searching documents is a main component of the modern information retrieval system. Locality Sensitive Hashing (LSH) is one of the most popular methods used in searching for documents in a high-dimensional space. The main benefit of LSH is its theoretical guarantee of query accuracy in a multi-dimensional space. More enhancement can be achieved to LSH by adding a bit to its steps. In this paper, a new Dynamic Locality Sensitive Hashing (DLSH) algorithm is proposed as an improved version of the LSH algorithm, which relies on employing the hierarchal selection of LSH parameters (number of bands, number of shingles, and number of permutation lists) based on the similarity achieved by the algorithm to optimize searching accuracy and increasing its score. Using several tampered file structures, the technique was applied, and the performance is evaluated. In some circumstances, the accuracy of matching with DLSH exceeds 95% with the optimal parameter value selected for the number of bands, the number of shingles, and the number of permutations lists of the DLSH algorithm. The result makes DLSH algorithm suitable to be applied in many critical applications that depend on accurate searching such as forensics technology.
The new multi-dimensional higher order interpolation scheme called MHIS is developed. Firstly, multi-dimensional TVD condition is derived based on one-dimensional TVD condition. Using multi-dimensional TVD condition, 2nd, 3rd and 5th order MHIS are presented. By help of multi-dimensional TVD condition, it is possible to captured a discontinuity monotonically even in a multi-dimensional flow. It is verified through several test cases that the accuracy and the robustness of MHIS are enhanced in regions of shock discontinuities as well as boundary-layers.

Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the accuracy and precision of polyurethane (PUT) dental arch models fabricated using a three-dimensional (3D) subtractive rapid prototyping (RP) method with an intraoral scanning technique by comparing linear measurements obtained from PUT models and conventional plaster models. Methods: Ten plaster models were duplicated using a selected standard master model and conventional impression, and 10 PUT models were duplicated using the 3D subtractive RP technique with an oral scanner. Six linear measurements were evaluated in terms of x, y, and z-axes using a non-contact white light scanner. Accuracy was assessed using mean differences between two measurements, and precision was examined using four quantitative methods and the Bland-Altman graphical method. Repeatability was evaluated in terms of intra-examiner variability, and reproducibility was assessed in terms of interexaminer and inter-method variability. Results: The mean difference between plaster models and PUT models ranged from 0.07 mm to 0.33 mm. Relative measurement errors ranged from 2.2% to 7.6% and intraclass correlation coefficients ranged from 0.93 to 0.96, when comparing plaster models and PUT models. The Bland-Altman plot showed good agreement. Conclusions: The accuracy and precision of PUT dental models for evaluating the performance of oral scanner and subtractive RP technology was acceptable. Because of the recent improvements in block material and computerized numeric control milling machines, the subtractive RP method may be a good choice for dental arch models.
The Rational Function Model has been used as a replacement sensor model in most commercial photogrammetric systems due to its capability of maintaining the accuracy of the physical sensor models. Although satellite images with rational polynomial coefficients have been used to determine three-dimensional position, it has limitations in the accuracy for large scale topographic mapping. In this study, high resolution stereo satellite images, QuickBird-2, were used to investigate how much the three-dimensional position accuracy was affected by the No. of ground control points, polynomial order, and distribution of GCPs. As the results, we can confirm that these experiments satisfy the accuracy requirements for horizontal and height position of 1:25,000 map scale.
