  • A two-dimensional positioning system by use of an M-array is proposed. An M-array pattern, which is known as one of the two-dimensional pseudorandom array, is attached on an object to be positioned. The M-array pattern is observed by a TV camera and crosscorrelated with the reference M-array. The maximum of the two-dimensional crosscorrelation function is sought by two-dimensional servo system. This method of positioning can be used in very noisy circumstances.

  • An experimental study was performed to evaluate seismic reduction performance and applicability of 3-dimensional floor isolation system to the main control room of nuclear power plant. A friction pendulum system(FPS) and air spring were designed and fabricated for 3-dimensional floor isolation system. Two kind of the partial experimental model of a main control room attached to the FPS and air spring were tested on the shaking table. The experimental model consisted of a control panel, a $2.5m{\times}2.5m$ access floor, four FPS and air springs. The artificial time histories based on the vertical and horizontal floor response spectrums(OBE, SSE) of the main control room were used as the earthquake input signals in the test. Compared to non-isolated system, the seismic response of experimental models using 3-dimensional floor isolation system were shown considerable seismic reduction performance.

  • In this study, because of change in electromagnetic force, deformation of the free surface motion of a magnetic fluid is changed. Deformation of the free surface motion of a magnetic fluid for the change in electromagnetic force is discussed and carried out theoretically and experimentally on the basis of Rosensweig Ferrohydrodynamic Bernoulli Equation. Objective of this study explicates free surface motion by electromagnetic force and planes to designed controller. To control free surface of magnetic fluid, it embody designed two-dimensional free surface form of magnetic fluid. By using this characteristics, they applied to oscillator for surface control, flow control, boundary layer control. Strength of magnetic field and height of free surface of magnetic fluid measure as a hall-effect sensor. As performing height control of magnetic fluid, the result will be presented possibility of free surface deformation control.

  • Active noise control is noise reduction method by generate anti-phase control signal for destructive interference of through control speaker. purpose of this paper is create a virtual control source at a using the DBAP(Distance Based Amplitude Panning) algorithm which is one of the three-dimensional sound reproduction method, and verified through the experimentally for noise control method through the virtual control source. We compared active noise method by using one control speaker with active noise control method by using DBAP algorithm.

  • The ability of a robotic manipulator to recognize the shape of an object by feeling its band around the object is useful in many applications. Two-dimensional object contour tracking by force feedback is described. The system consists of IBM PC/AT, PUMA 560 manipulator, PUMA controller and a tip sensor. Position control is accomplished by using VAL command and the unmodified PUMA controller. A contour tracking algorithm is developed and tested on three different types of objects. The experimental results show that the objects' shapes can be successfully identified.

  • Fuzzy controllers have been successfully applied to many cases to which conventional control algorithms are difficult to be applied. Even though the representations and the processings of data and information in the fuzzy controller are quite different from those in other control algorithms, the information processing operation that it caries out is basically a function ∫: $A{\subset}R^n{\to}R^m$, from a bounded subset A of an n-dimensional Euclidean space to a bounded subset f[A] of an m-dimensional Euclidean space, where n and m are the number of measured states and the number of control inputs of the controlled system, respectively. Under the assumptions of Mamdani's direct reasoning method and C.O.G.(center of gravity) defuzzification method, the fuzzy controllers are proven to perform the mapping of any given functions f with appropriately defined fuzzy sets. The mapping capabilities of fuzzy controllers are analyzed in detail for two cases, ∫: $R^{1}{\to}R^{1}$ and g: $R^{2}{\to}R^{1}$. Also, it will be shown that the results can be extended to multiple dimensional cases.

  • Background and Objectives: We evaluated the effect of adipose-derived stem cell-derived conditioned medium (ADSC-CM) on the renal function of rats with renal ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI)-induced acute kidney injury. Methods and Results: Forty male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into four groups: sham, nephrectomy control, IRI control, ADSC-CM. The ADSC-CM was prepared using the three-dimensional spheroid culture system and injected into renal parenchyme. The renal function of the rats was evaluated 28 days before and 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, and 14 days after surgical procedures. The rats were sacrificed 14 days after surgical procedures, and kidney tissues were collected for histological examination. The renal parenchymal injection of ADSC-CM significantly reduced the serum blood urea nitrogen and creatinine levels compared with the IRI control group on days 1, 2, 3, and 4 after IRI. The renal parenchymal injection of ADSC-CM significantly increased the level of creatinine clearance compared with the IRI control group 1 day after IRI. Collagen content was significantly lower in the ADSC-CM group than in the IRI control group in the cortex and medulla. Apoptosis was significantly decreased, and proliferation was significantly increased in the ADSC-CM group compared to the IRI control group in the cortex and medulla. The expressions of anti-oxidative makers were higher in the ADSC-CM group than in the IRI control group in the cortex and medulla. Conclusions: The renal function was effectively rescued through the renal parenchymal injection of ADSC-CM prepared using a three-dimensional spheroid culture system.

  • The present paper deals with the continuous work of extending multi-dimensional limiting process (MLP), which has been quite successfully proposed on two- and three-dimensional structured grids, onto the unstructured grids. The basic idea of the present limiting strategy is to control the distribution of both cell-centered and cell-vertex physical properties to mimic a multi-dimensional nature of flow physics, which can be formulated as so called the MLP condition. The MLP condition can guarantee a high-order spatial accuracy without yielding spurious oscillations. Recently, MLP slope limiter was proposed based on the MUSCL-type reconstruction in two-dimensional case and it can be readily extended to three-dimensional case. Through various numerical analyses and extensive computations, it is observed that the proposed limiters are quite effective in controlling numerical oscillations and very accurate in capturing both discontinuous and continuous multi-dimensional flow features on 3-D tetrahedral grids.

  • A novel space vector modulation strategy in the non-orthogonal three-dimensional coordinate system for multi-level three-phase four-wire inverters is proposed in this paper. This new non-orthogonal three-dimensional space vector modulation converts original trigonometric functions in the orthogonal three-dimensional space coordinate into simple algebraic operations, which greatly reduces the algorithm complexity of three-dimensional space vector modulation and preserves the independent control of the zero-sequence component. Experimental results have verified the correctness and effectiveness of the proposed three-dimensional space vector modulation in the new non-orthogonal three-dimensional coordinate system.
