A Study on the Development of Tele-Consulting System of Radiology using Asymetric Satellite Data Communication System (비대칭 위성 데이터 통신 시스템을 이용한 원격 진단 방사선 컨설팅 시스템 개발에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, we present the Tele-consulting system of radiology, which uses the communication network as asymetric satellite data communication system. The asymetric satellite data communication system uses receive-only satellite links or data delivery and PSTN(Public Switched Telephone Network) modem or N-ISDN(Integrate Services Digital Network) for communication. The satellite communication linking shows the very high-speed performance than 28.8kbps modem linking. The satellite linking is 5 - 10 times aster than the modem linking. Consequently, we get the conclusion that our system is suitable or tele-radiology and telemedicine.

  • Broad band and wide area satellite communication has advantage that can be always communicate with anyone regardless of time and space. In the other hands, its communication quality is easy to be affected by interference signals. Due to the fact that interference signal can be transmitted from everywhere, it's hard to find the illegal source of signal and it has huge influence. In this paper, with this influence of interference signal, we introduce the interference rejection method, implementation and test result in the digital satellite communication processing the signal using variety of digital method. It will be useful information to improve the interference rejection function and also be helpful on the field of satellite communication.

  • Satellite communication in the 21 century's high tech information world is developing rapidly, marked by high levels of applications and functions. For example, satellite communication can process and switch the speed of the service provided by a broad and vast digital multimedia system such as a long-distance all between nations or broadcasting transfer service, which is supplied by a contemporary satellite system. So, it bring about problems which lack of satellite orbit and gibes out frequency resource by increment of satellite universally. To support this, an OBP satellite system is need, which includes an on-board IF/RF switch, baseband signal processing, multi-beam antenna technology, as well as a simple transponder system. In this paper, we have outlined the next generation of satellite communication; satellite OBP transport network architecture, which offers multimedia service and applied frequency reuse method for multi-spot beam. The satellite B-ISDN transport network architecture is also analyzed.

  • This study describes the design and implementation of digital Payload power supply. We materialized the interface of the PLDIU and power supply of a satellite bus, and minimized the potential for the occurrence of such erroneous operation circuit ESD through the WCA of the space environment. We designed a reliable power supply through simulation for a TID according to the vibration generated during the launch and space radiation environment, and found no problem in the function and performance through the test space environment after production.

  • This study describes the design and implementation of SHF band Downconverter Digital Satellite Communication. The SHF band Downconverter unit consists of PLDRO and Frequency converter. In Frequency converter, microstrip BPF and LPF designed through the pre EM simulation are implemented to minimize the unwanted spurious in Frequency converter. Through the pre-simulation analysis of space environment, the possibility of and minimized about the malfunction of equipment and we designed a reliable SHF band Downconverter through simulation for a TID according to the vibration generated during the launch and space radiation environment, and compared pre-simulation of main performance results to test results about main performances of SHF band Downconverter after production.

  • This study describes the design and implementation of IFA(Input Filter Assembly) for Digital Satellite Communication. The IFA unit for SHF band consists of coupler, LPF(Low Pass Filter) and input Filter. Through the pre-simulation analysis of space environment, the possibility of the malfunction of equipment minimized and we designed a reliable IFA through simulation for vibration analysis generated during the launch, and compared pre-simulation of main performance results to test results about main performances of IFA after production.

Development of Fast Internet based TelePAGS using Satellite Channel (위성 통신을 이용한 고속 인터넷 기반의 원격 PACS 개발)

  • In this paper, we present the Tele-PACS of radiology, which uses the communication network as asymetric satellite data communication system. The asymetric satellite data communication system uses receive-only satellite links for data delivery and PSTN(Public Switched Telephone Network) modem or N-ISDN(Integrate Services Digital Network) for communication. The satellite communication linking shows the very high-speed performance than terrestial linking such as 28.8 kbps modem linking and 56Kbps linking. The satellite linking is 5 - 10 times faster than the 56Kbps linking. We conclude that 1) Satellite networking is currently the cheapest and fastest solution for internet access. 2) Web-based Image-Viewer enables small size hospitals in rural area to connect to central PACS easily and to retrieve the image data reliably. 3) The suggested teleradiology system using satellite networking could be adequate to fast telemedicine and telecare for rural hospitals especially located in geographically isolated areas such as islands.

  • This paper proposes the Doppler frequency tracking system by the optimum synchronization technique which compensates the frequency shifts caused by satellite movement in a coherent digital satellite communication system. A Doppler frequency shift caused by satellite movements and the design theories of the optimum synchronization system are mathematically described. Based on this theory, a Doppler frequency tracking system is implemented via digital signal processing techniques utilizing a DSP chip, RAMs, PROMs, and a 80286 microprocessor. The performance of the designed system was evaluated through the experiments with the INTELSATVA satellite.
