This study starts from a question about the expectation that government policy reduces the educational gap by introducing digital textbooks. In addition, we try to figure out how to minimize the problems that will occur when digital textbooks are introduced and fully adopted. The purpose of this study is exploring the possibility that suing digital textbook deepens learning gap among students. Researchers are discussed that the gap between 'information' haves' and 'information' have-nots' and between 'the competent user' and 'the incompetent user' increase difference between 'knows' and 'know-nots' on the socio-economic class. These difference are likely to imply that using digital textbook is deepening the educational gap.
The concept of "new consumer sovereignty" is playing a significant role in having the initiative of production and consumption of technology and culture trend. Today the 'new consumers' positively use digital and information technology in purchasing. To understand these consumers' new purchase tendency, the study examined the actual conditions 1) of consumers' use of digital and information technology, 2) of digital devide between consumers, and 3) the consumer's attitude to changes of their lifestyle which digital convergence could result in. The subjects were thousand male and female adults. The data were collected from a survey conducted by Embrain, a research firm in Seoul, in the period of June 1st, 2007 ${\sim}$ June 10th, 2007. The results show: 1. Most subjects have computers, their Internet use is their general life, and they have lots of exposure opportunities to digital information. They positively and actively use information technology. 2. Between male and female subjects, and between old and young generation there is a significant digital gap. But the gap between regional areas is statistically not significant. 3. The subject's attitude to digital convergence society shows both positive expectation and negative concerns. Concludingly, to embody a desirable digital convergence society, it is necessary to be searched the ways which can decrease the digital gap and policy to share benefit that information technology can give to consumers.

When information professionals deal with other disciplines in the course of digital humanities projects, they often assume that they are dealing with 'needful users' who have an 'information gap' to fill. This paper argues that the traditional view that information/knowledge is transferred from an information specialist donor to a domain specialist receiver is no longer appropriate in the digital humanities context, where the gap-and-search (or gap-and-filler) approach to information has given way to more direct, explorative engagement with information. The paper asks whether information science and the practising profession are ready for this paradigm shift and examines information science conservatism in two common collaboration scenarios, library support and digital development. It is shown that information science theory still assumes a traditional donor role in both scenarios. How information scientists deal with conservatism in practice is discussed in the example of the Prior project, in which the information science team exerted an ambiguous, hybrid approach with both conservative and non-conservative elements. Finally, two rather hypothetical answers are offered to the question of how information professionals should approach scholarly collaboration in the digital humanities context, where users have ceased to be supplicants. From a purely pragmatic perspective, information scientists need to shift their focus from information needs to research practices and the implications of these practices for digital information systems. More fundamentally, the emergence of digital humanities challenges information professionals to transform information systems designed for searching into digital objects that can be explored more freely by the digital humanities community.
Given the rapid development of information and communication technology (ICT) and the deepening of the information gap phenomenon in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, researchers and practitioners need to understand the changing perceptions of new phenomena such as COVID-19 information gap on the existing information-vulnerable population. In this study, an empirical analysis was performed with the digital information gap survey data in 2020 to understand the potential impact of COVID-19 on the information gap according to the information-vulnerable class. This study is to verify the effect of information gap, marginalized groups, gender, and major factors of information services (contents, social relations, life services, information production, networking, social participation, non-face-to-face services) on the change in perception of digital information technology after Corona. Hierarchical regression analysis was performed. As a result of the analysis, it was found that the higher the content, social relationship, life service, networking, and digital non-face-to-face service, the higher the change in perception of digital information technology after Corona. Therefore, in light of the evolving phenomenon of COVID-19, it is considered that the government needs to provide education and training to strengthen the capabilities of the information-vulnerable class in order to resolve the digital information gap.
The intelligent information society is expected to drastically change our lives. The purpose of this content is to derive tasks in the field of media education for the elderly for the realization of digital inclusion in an intelligent information society. To this end, the vision, goals, strategies, and tasks of the intelligent information society were examined through the 6th National Informatization Basic Plan(2018~2022) and the 2022 Education Informatization White Paper(2022). In addition, the current status of the digital gap among the elderly classified as vulnerable groups was identified through the results of the 2022 Digital Information Gap Survey. In order to ease the digital information gap between the elderly in the intelligent information society, it is believed that the development of intelligent media education services using intelligent information technology, provision of media education services for the elderly through learning online service channels, and support for digital intelligent media education for the elderly are necessary.
The regional differences between urban and rural areas make many diverse differences. There are various differences between urban and rural areas such as economic gap and cultural gap. There is also a difference between urban and rural areas in accessing and utilizing information. The purpose of this study is to clarify the relationship between the information gap and the income gap among farmers and fishermen groups, where information gap is considered to be more serious than other groups. In other words, we tried to examine whether the information gap between farmers and peasants affects the income gap. The purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship between informatization level and income of farmers based on the information gap index and survey results conducted every year by the government. The results show that there is a statistically significant positive relationship between the informatization level of farmers and household income. In addition, the trend of the regression coefficient is positive, suggesting that the government needs various informatization policies to increase the informatization level of farmers.

This research aims at building the conceptual model and proposing concrete ways for raising the ICT productivity of the under-served groups. This research consists of four areas: 1) review and discussion of studies on digital divide issues, 2) theoretical reasoning of the relationship between informatization and productivity, 3) analysis of the present status of information gap between the under-served groups and the general public in Korea, finally 4) proposing the directions of policy making and various concrete ways for reducing information gap and raising the ICT productivity of the under-served groups through facilitating digital inclusion. The model of enhancing the ICT productivity of the under-served groups was theoretically reasoned to include three dimensions which are named as Economy, Efficiency and Effectiveness. The results of this research can be utilized for making policies of not only enlarging the digital opportunity of people in the under-served groups but also raising their income level and quality of life.
Depending on the degree of access to information, social inequalities, especially economic inequalities, can increase. The information gap can lead to an income disparity, leading to an economic disparity. Recently, as we have evolved into a smart environment, our society is in a more complex situation in the digital divide. In the smart environment, unlike the wired Internet based environment based on the existing PC, various media services that are not tied to the transmission means are emerging and the information gap in the smart environment is causing even more serious problems. The purpose of this study is to analyze the correlation between the informatization level and income of the Korean people based on the information gap index and the results of surveys conducted on the general public in Korea. If there is a difference in the level of income depending on the level of access, utilization, and utilization of information by the Korean people, a new approach or change is needed in the policy or strategy for resolving the digital divide of the Korean government. In particular, it should be accompanied by the consideration and concern for the information alienated group and efforts for the continuous support for the solution of the digital divide. The results show that the correlation between the informatization level of the Korean people and the household income is statistically significant (+). In addition, the correlation coefficient trend is positive, suggesting that the government needs various informatization policies to increase the informatization level of the general public in Korea.
