  • In this paper, a two-dimensional electron beam dose calculational algorithm implented for use in a two-dimensional radiation therapy planning system is described. The 2-D electron beam calculations have been in use clinically for a few decades. Our algorithm uses Age-diffusion model based int the Boltzman Transport Equation. Our implementation provides convenient user interface associated with electron beam therapy planning and displays radiation dose distribution according to different electron energy on patient images.

  • We propose a method to obtain various diffusion parameters of deposited atom. By comparing the results of kinetic Mote Carlo (KMC) simulation with the results of STM, HRLEED experiments, we can determine diffusion parameters including the hopping barrier of an adatom on terrace, detachment barrier at the step edge, and well known Schwoebel barrier. It is found that the branch-width, island density, and roughness were suitable atomic scale structure parameters for comparing simulation calculation with experimental results, and especially, it is found that the parameter branch-width which is not widely used in thin film growth study, plays an important role in determining diffusion barriers.

  • In this study, the change in diffusion coefficient and wear characteristic with depth in the carbonitriding layer of SCM415 steel was discussed. To determine the diffusion coefficient, depth profile of carbon was measured from the surface using the Glow Discharge Spectrometer. In otherwise, measurements of carbide fraction, micro vickers hardness of surface and observation of microstructure have been implemented through the SEM image. $Fe_3$(C,N) layer and effective depth were increased as the time for carbonitriding takes longer. According to wear experiment, the results showed that wear resistance was improved by $Fe_3$(C,N) layer and effective depth.

  • Mechanical properties and durability of recycled aggregate concrete was known to decrease due to the adhesive mortar of recycled aggregate. But in this study, As the result of chloride diffusion resistance of recycled fine aggregate mortar, the mechanical properties are reduced according to the increase of the substitute ratio of recycled fine aggregate. But the chloride diffusion coefficient was almost same with natural fine aggregate mortar.

  • Advanced back-end processing requires the integration of low-k dielectrics and Cu. However, in the presence of an electric field and a temperature, positive Cu ions may drift rapidly through dielectric and causing reliability problems. Therefore, in this paper, Cu+ drift diffusion in two low-k materials and silicon oxide is evaluated. The drift diffusion is investigated by measuring shifts in the flat band voltage of capacitance-voltage measurements on Cu gate capacitors after bias thermal stressing. The Cu+ drift late in $SiO_{x}C_{y}\;(2.85{\pm}0.03)$ and Polyimide(2.7${\leq}k{\leq}3.0$) is Considerably lower than in thermal oxide.

  • The eddy diffusion in the pulsed wetted wall column, where the spherical balls are consecutively arrayed along the axis of the column and turbulence is caused around the balls by pulsation, has been studied both theoretically and experimentally. A diffusion equation is solved for a longitudinal column where a concentration impulse is given at the top of the column, and the experimental results, which are the impulse response measurements at the half of the total height of the column, have shown a good agreement with the developed theory. A method of measuring the eddy diffusivity, which is based on the slope of concentration vs. time in the particular interval of concentration, is proposed and the measured diffusivity is used as a criterion of comparing the theory and the experiment. The eddy diffusion is remarkably increased as the amplitude and the frequency of the pulsation increase but the increasing rate is decreased as the pulsation increases.

  • This study investigated the adsorption characteristics of nickel, zinc and cadmium ions from the aqueous solution onto the alginate bead. Adsorption equilibrium capacities of the heavy metal ions increased with increasing initial pH of the solution. The adsorption equilibrium isotherm of the heavy metal ions was well represented by Langmuir equation. The magnitude of adsorption capacity of the heavy metal ions onto alginate bead was the order of cadmium > zinc > nickel. Kinetic parameters were measured in a batch adsorber to analyze the adsorption rates of the heavy metal ions. The internal diffusion coefficient of the heavy metal ions in the intraparticle were determined by comparing the experimental concentration curves with those predicted from the surface diffusion model (SDM) and pore diffusion model (PDM). The internal diffusion of the heavy metal ions in the intraparticles was explained by PDM.

  • This study selected three different specified concrete strength types of mixture which were applied to domestic seawater concrete structure and measured compressive strength and chloride diffusion coefficient and composed the formula of prediction model of chloride diffusion coefficient in order to provide the useful data for concrete mix decision of seawater structures. As a result, the formula of prediction model of chloride diffusion coefficient which set W/C and compressive strength as parameters and performed multiplex regression analysis which was based on the mathematical theory was confirmed more reliable than the formula of prediction which was composed existing water-cement ratio function.

  • The interfacial diffusion in Fe/Cr/MgO(001) multilayers has been studied using synchrotron x-ray techniques, such as x-ray reflectivity, extended x-ray absorption fine structures (EXAFS), and anomalous x-ray scattering (AXS). The results of x-ray reflectivity indicated that the interfacial roughness of Fe/Cr multilayers with Cr-$4{\AA}$-thick was larger than that with Cr-$4{\AA}$-thick. The results of EXAFS indicated that the Fe element dominantly diffuse into the stable Cr layers at the Fe/Cr interface. The AXS was certified the existence of the interdiffused Fe element in the Cr layers. Our study revealed that the rough interface of the Fe/Cr multilayers was caused by the interfacia diffusion of Fe element into the Cr layers.

  • MgO.$Al_2O_3$ polycrstalline spinel powder was subjected to vaporization over the temperature range of 1150-130$0^{\circ}C$ under H2 atmosphere. Diffusion coefficient of oxygen ion through the spinel were calculated using the measure vaporization rates as follows : D=28.4 exp(-901500/RT) Reference data of the vaporization rates of MgO.$8Al_2O_3$ single crystal spinel were applied to the vaporiza-tion model proposed in this study and were calculated to give the oxygen ion diffusion coefficients over the tempera-ture 1700-195$0^{\circ}C$. The obtained diffusion coefficients are as follows: $D=3.20{\times}106$ exp(-155600/RT)
