Application of Volterra functional series to the analysis of nonlinear systems (비선형 시스템 해석을 위한 볼테라 시리지의 응용)

  • The input-output relation for nonlinear systems can be explicitly represented by the Voltera functional series and it is characterized by the Volterra Kernels. A block diagram reduction method is introduced to determine the Volterra Kernels for the nonlinear systems represented by nonlinear differential equations. Degree of nonlinearity is defined and analyzed for the analysis of nonlinear systems.

A Study on the Supportive Stiffness in Transitional Zones through Moving Load-Based Three-Dimensional Modeling (이동하중과 3차원 모델링을 통한 접속부 지지강성연구)

  • The Transitional zone between bridge abutment and earthwork is one of the representative vulnerable zones in railway where differential settlements may take place due to the different supportive stiffness. Although transitional zones are managed with stricter standards than those of the other earthwork zones either in the design and construction stages, it is very difficult to prevent differential settlement perfectly. A three-dimensional numerical analyses were performed by applying train moving load in this study. The analytical model including abutments and earthwork zones was constituted with rail, sleepers, track concrete layer (TCL), hydraulic stabilized base (HSB), reinforced road bed, and road bed using railway and road base structure. The clamp connecting the rail and sleeper were also modeled as the element with spring coefficient. The train wheel is modeled in the actual size and moved on the rail with 300 km/hr speed. The deformation characteristics at each point of the rail and the ground were considered in detail when moving the train wheel. The analysis results were compared with those from the two-dimensional analysis without considering moving load. The research results show that displacement and stress were greater in the three-dimensional analysis than in other analyses, and the three-dimensional analysis with moving load should be performed to evaluate railway performance.

The Study of Thermal Decomposition of Polyacids by Differential Thermal Analysis: Ammonium Paratungstate (示差熱分析에 依한 Poly 酸의 熱分析의 硏究)

  • The thermal decomposition process of ammonium paratungstate $5(NH_4)_2O{\cdot}12WO_3{\cdot}5H_2O$ was analysed by the methods of thermogravimetric analysis, differential thermal analysis, quantitative analysis of the ammonia which is released during heating and X-ray powder diffraction in air and in vacuo. There are several endothermic peaks which indicate release of ammonia and exothermic peaks which indicate crystal growth and oxidation of decomposed prodects in air. After water is driven off the ammonia is released at intervals corresponding to the endothermic peaks. The highest temperature at which ammonia is released is about $420^{\circ}C$ in air and $480^{\circ}C$ in vacuo. In air the crystal structure of paratungstate is conserved up to a temperature of $300^{\circ}C$ at which the remaining ammonia is about 4 mols. At $320^{\circ}C$ the remaining ammonia becomes less than 2 mols and the paratungstate structure changes into the amorphous state. After that ${\gamma}$ oxide is produced and is oxidized to ${\alpha}$ oxide in the temperature range of 400-$500^{\circ}C$ in air. In vacuo however the endothermic peaks and structural changes occur at lower temperatures and the structure of ${\gamma}$ oxide is conserved up to temperatures higher than $500^{\circ}C$.

Security Analysis of the Khudra Lightweight Cryptosystem in the Vehicular Ad-hoc Networks

  • With the enlargement of wireless technology, vehicular ad-hoc networks (VANETs) are rising as a hopeful way to realize smart cities and address a lot of vital transportation problems such as road security, convenience, and efficiency. To achieve data confidentiality, integrity and authentication applying lightweight cryptosystems is widely recognized as a rather efficient approach for the VANETs. The Khudra cipher is such a lightweight cryptosystem with a typical Generalized Feistel Network, and supports 80-bit secret key. Up to now, little research of fault analysis has been devoted to attacking Khudra. On the basis of the single nibble-oriented fault model, we propose a differential fault analysis on Khudra. The attack can recover its 80-bit secret key by introducing only 2 faults. The results in this study will provides vital references for the security evaluations of other lightweight ciphers in the VANETs.

  • The GFRP(Glass-Fiber Reinforced Plastic) pipe is designed to behave safely against the external forces and to secure stability of deformation and settlements of pipe, since it is laid under the ground. In this study, the evaluation for the pressure stability was carried out by performing the laboratory experiments to figure out the mechanical properties of Glass-Fiber Reinforced Plastic pipe, take a theoretical approach, and suggest the mechanical properties necessary for the analysis and design of GFRP. Numerical analysis is also conducted to evaluate on the field application through the comparison concerning relations between deformation and differential settlement in the GFRP and hume pipes when all and half sections are under the surcharge load.
