Fast 3D Mesh Compression Using Shared Vertex Analysis

  • A trend in 3D mesh compression is codec design with low computational complexity which preserves the input vertex and face order. However, this added information increases the complexity. We present a fast 3D mesh compression method that compresses the redundant shared vertex information between neighboring faces using simple first-order differential coding followed by fast entropy coding with a fixed length prefix. Our algorithm is feasible for low complexity designs and maintains the order, which is now part of the MPEG-4 scalable complexity 3D mesh compression standard. The proposed algorithm is 30 times faster than MPEG-4 3D mesh coding extension.

  • Nowadays, the need of multi-mode/multi-band transceiver is rapidly increasing, so we design a direct conversion RF front-end for multi-mode/multi-band receiver that support WCDMA/CDMA2000/WIBRO standard. It consists of variable gain reconfigurable LNA and single input double balanced Mixer and complementary differential LC Oscillator. The circuit is implemented in 0.18 um RF CMOS technology and is suitable for low-cost mode/multi-band.

  • This paper describes the ultra precise position estimation of a servomotor using sinusoidal encoder based on Arcsine Interpolation Method. The amplitude and offset errors of the sinusoidal encoder output signals are effectively compensated and on-line tuned by utilizing a low cost programmable differential amp without any special expensive equipments. To theoretically evaluate the practical resolution of this system, the relationship between the amplitude of A/D converter input signal errors and the anticipated resolution is briefly dealt with. The performance of the proposed method is verified by the experiments, by comparing it with position and speed control characteristics of the servomotor driving system using a digital incremental 50,000ppr encoder.

  • This paper proposes an optimal design software for the open-chain dynamic systems whose governing equations are expressed as differential equation. In this software, an input module and an automatic creation module of the equation of motion are developed to contrive the user's convenience. To analyze the equation of motion of the dynamic systems, variable-order and variable-stepsize Adams-Bashforth-Moulton predictor-corrector method is used to improve the efficiency. For the optimization and the design sensitivity analysis, ALM(augmented lagrange multiplier)method and adjoint variable method are adopted respectively. An output module with which the user can compare and investigate the analysis and the optimization results through tables and graphs is also provided. The developed software is applied to three typical dynamic response optimization problems, and the results compare very well with those available in the literature, demonstrating its effectiveness.

  • This paper presents a new method to automatically design fuzzy logic controller(FLC). The main problems of designing FLC are how to optimally and automatically select the control rules and the parameters of membership function (MF). Cell state space algorithms (CSS), differential competitive learning (DCL) and multialyer neural network are combined in this paper to solve the problems. When the dynamical model of a control process is known. CSS can be used to generate a group of optimal input output pairs(X, Y) used by a controller. The(X, Y) then can be used to determine the FLC rules by DCL and to determine the optimal parameters of MF by DCL and to determine the optimal parameters of MF by multilayer neural network trained by BP algorithm.

  • A discrete system has interpreted by using the network model, and PERT network is one of these methods. For the purpose of analysing the real system, it is necessary to measure the parameter of the real system. And system identification problem is to assume the parameter of a real system when we get to know the system model, the input data and output data. System identification method has been only developed to a system of which a structure has expressed a differential equation or a polynomial expression. But it has been scarcely developed yet in that case of network model. The aim of this paper is to examine a changes when new system is introduced to the present system. The changes are as follows : how the present system will be changed, when the changes will be happened. In this paper, genetic algorithm is used to assume the parameter.

  • In this paper, we consider the problem of parameter estimation, i.e., definding the internal structure of a linear distribution parameter system from its input/output data. First, a linear partial differential equation describing the system is double-integrated with respect to two variables and then transformed into an integral equation. Next the Walsh Operation Matrix for Walsh function and their integration are introduced to transform the integral equation into algebraic simultaneous equations. Finally, we develop an algorithm to estimate the parameters of the linear distributed parameter system from the simple linear algebraic simultaneous equations. It is also shown that our algorithm could be effective in real time data processing since it uses the Fast Walsh Transform.

Design of Current-Type Readout Integrated Circuit for 160 × 120 Pixel Array Applications

  • We propose a Readout Integrated Circuit (ROIC), which applies a fixed current bias sensing method to the input stage in order to simplify the circuit structure and the infrared sensor characteristic control. For the sample-and-hold stage to display and control a signal detected by the infrared sensor using a two-dimensional (2D) focal plane array, a differential delta sampling (DDS) circuit is proposed, which effectively removes the FPN. In addition, the output characteristic is improved to have wider bandwidth and higher gain by applying a two-stage variable gain amplifier (VGA). The output characteristic of the proposed device was 23.91 mV/$^{\circ}C$, and the linearity error rate was less than 0.22%. After checking the performance of the ROIC using HSPICE simulation, the chip was manufactured and measured using the SMIC 0.35 um standard CMOS process to confirm that the simulation results from the actual design are in good agreement with the measurement results.
