Modified Glassy Carbon Electrode with Polypyrrole Nanocomposite for the Simultaneous Determination of Ascorbic acid, Dopamine, Uric acid, and Folic Acid

  • A fast and simple method for synthesis of CuxO-ZnO/PPy/RGO nanocomposite by electrochemical manner have been reported in this paper. For testing the utility of this nanocomposite we modified a GCE with the nanocomposite to yield a sensor for simultaneous determination of four analytes namely ascorbic acid (AA), dopamine (DA), uric acid (UA), and folic acid (FA). Cyclic voltammetry (CV) and Differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) selected for the study. The modified electrode cause to enhance electron transfer rate so overcome to overlapping their peaks and consequently having the ability to the simultaneous determination of AA, DA, UA, and FA. To synthesis confirmation of the nanocomposite, Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), Raman spectroscopy, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) were applied. The linearity ranges were 0.07-485 μM, 0.05-430 μM, 0.02-250 μM and 0.022-180 μM for AA, DA, UA, and FA respectively and the detection limits were 22 nM, 10 nM, 5 nM and 6 nM for AA, DA, UA, and FA respectively Also, the obtained electrode can be used for the determination of the AA, DA, UA, and FA in human blood, and human urine real samples.

Transport Properties of Polymer Blend Membranes of Sulfonated and Nonsulfonated Polysulfones for Direct Methanol Fuel Cell Application

  • The relation between the phase separated morphologies and their transport properties in the polymer blend membrane for direct methanol fuel cell application was studied. In order to enhance the proton conductivity and reduce the methanol crossover, sulfonated poly(arylene ether sulfone) copolymer, with a sulfonation of 60 mol% (sPAES-60), was blended with nonsulfonated poly(ether sulfone) copolymer (RH-2000, Solvay). Various morphologies were obtained by varying the drying condition and the concentration of the casting solution (10, 15, 20 wt%). The transport properties of proton and methanol molecule through the polymer blend membranes were studied according to the absorbed water. AC impedance spectroscopy was used to measure the proton conductivity and a liquid permeability measuring instrument was designed to measure the methanol permeability. The state of water in the blend membranes was confirmed by differential scanning calorimetry and was used to correlate the morphology of the membrane with the membrane transport properties.

Simultaneous Determination of Cd2+, Pb2+, Cu2+ and Hg2+ at a Carbon Paste Electrode Modified with Ionic Liquid-functionalized Ordered Mesoporous Silica

  • Ionic liquid-functionalized ordered mesoporous silica SBA-15 modified carbon paste electrode (CISPE) was fabricated and its electrochemical performance was investigated by cyclic voltammetry, electrochemical impedance spectra. The electrochemical behavior of $Cd^{2+}$, $Pb^{2+}$, $Cu^{2+}$ and $Hg^{2+}$ at CISPE was studied by differential pulse anodic stripping voltammetry (DPASV). Compared with carbon paste electrode, the stripping peak currents had a significant increase at CISPE. Under the optimized conditions, the detection limits were $8.0{\times}10^{-8}\;M$ ($Cd^{2+}$), $4.0{\times}10^{-8}\;M$ ($Pb^{2+}$), $6.0{\times}10^{-8}\;M$ ($Cu^{2+}$), $1.0{\times}10^{-8}\;M$ ($Hg^{2+}$), respectively. Furthermore, the present method was applied to the determination of $Cd^{2+}$, $Pb^{2+}$, $Cu^{2+}$ and $Hg^{2+}$ in water samples and people hair sample.

Electrochemical Performance of Lithium Sulfur Batteries with Plasticized Polymer Electrolytes based on P(VdF-co-HFP)

  • The plasticized polymer electrolytes based on polyvinylidene fluoride-co-hexafluoropropylene (P(VdF-co-HFP)), tetra (ethylene glycol) dimethyl ether (TEGDME), and lithium perchlorate ($LiClO_4$) are prepared for the lithium sulfur batteries by solution casting with a doctor-blade. The polymer electrolyte with EO : Li ratio of 16 : 1 shows the maximum ionic conductivity, $6.5\;{\times}\;10^{-4}\;S/cm$ at room temperature. To understand the effect of the salt concentration on the electrochemical performance, the polymer electrolytes are characterized using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), infrared spectroscopy (IR), viscometer, and differential scanning calorimeter (DSC). The optimum concentration and mobility of the charge carriers could lead to enhance the utilization of sulfur active materials and the cyclability of the Li/S unit cell.

지중송전계통에서 Wavelet 변환과 퍼지추론을 이용한 고장종류판별 및 고장점 추정에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Fault Discrimination and Location Algorithm in Underground Transmission Systems Using Wavelet Transform and Fuzzy Inference)

  • The underground transmission lines is continuously expanded in power systems. Therefore the fault of underground transmission lines are increased every year because of the complication of systems. However the studies dealing with fault location in the case of the underground transmission lines are rarely reported except for few papers using traveling wave method and calculating underground cable impedance. This paper describes the algorithm using fuzzy system and travelling wave method in the underground transmission line. Fuzzy inference is used for fault discrimination. To organize fuzzy algorithm, it is important to select target data reflecting various underground transmission line transient states. These data are made of voltage and average of RMS value on zero sequence current within one cycle after fault occurrence. Travelling wave based on wavelet transform is used for fault location. In this paper, a variety of underground transmission line transient states are simulated by EMTP/ATPDraw and Matlab. The input which is used to fault location algorithm are Detail 1(D1) coefficients of differential current. D1 coefficients are obtained by wavelet transform. As a result of applying the fuzzy inference and travelling wave based on wavelet transform, fault discrimination is correctly distinguished within 1/2 cycle after fault occurrence and fault location is comparatively correct.

Scattering Parameter-based Measurement of Planar EMI filter

  • Planar electromagnetic interference (EMI) filters are widely used to restrain the conducted EMI of switching power supplies. Such filters are characterized by small size, low parasitic parameters, and better high-frequency performance than the passive discrete EMI filter. However, EMI filter performance cannot be exactly predicted by using existing methods. Therefore, this paper proposes a method to use scattering parameters (S-parameters) for the measurement of EMI filter performance. A planar EMI filter sample is established. From this sample, the relationship between S-parameters and insertion gain (IG) of EMI filter is derived. To determine the IG under different impedances, the EMI filter is theoretically calculated and practically measured. The differential structure of the near-field coupling model is also deduced, and the IG is calculated under standard impedance conditions. The calculated results and actual measurements are compared to verify the feasibility of the theory.

Computation of the Current Limiting Behavior of BSCCO-2212 High-Temperature Superconducting Tube with Shunt Coils

  • This paper deals with the computation of the current limiting behavior of high-temperature superconducting (HTS) modules for the superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL). The SFCL module consists of a monofilar type BSCCO-2212 tube and a shunt coil made of copper or brass. The shunt coil is connected to the monofilar superconducting tube in parallel. Through analysis of the quench behavior of the monofilar component with shunt coils, it is achieved to drive an equivalent circuit equation from the experimental circuit structure. In order to analyze the quench behavior of the SFCL module, we derived a partial differential equation technique. Inductance of the monofilar component and the impedance of the shunt coil are calculated by Bio-Savart and Ohm's formula, respectively. We computed the quench behavior using the calculated values, and compared the results with experimental results for the quench characteristics of a component. The results of computation and test agreed well each other, and it was concluded that the analytic result could be applied effectively to design of the distribution-level SFCL system.

Coronoid Process Hyperplasia: A Rare Case of Restricted Mouth Opening Masquerading as Temporomandibular Disorder

  • Coronoid process hyperplasia (CPH) of the mandible is a rare condition in which abnormal elongation of the coronoid process leads to chronic mandibular hypomobility. CPH causes impingement or impedance of the coronoid process on the inner surface of the frontal part of the zygomatic bone during mouth opening. The lack of significant symptoms makes the diagnosis difficult. Its etiology remains inconclusive despite several theories being suggested. In this report, three reviewed cases are presented. All three patients visited our clinic with limited mouth opening as the chief complaint. Standard clinical and radiographic examinations were conducted under the initial impression of temporomandibular disorders (TMDs), and restricted jaw movements were confirmed in all cases. The absence of improved signs and symptoms following conservative treatment for TMDs or the indeterminate plain radiographs required the attending clinicians to consider three-dimensional imagery. Computed tomography revealed bilateral coronoid hyperplasia in all cases and impingement on the zygomatic bone in two of the three cases. After concluding that this condition caused the patients' limited mouth opening, the patients were referred to the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery for possible bilateral coronoidectomy or coronoidotomy. CPH usually presents no symptoms apart from a progressive reduction of mouth opening over time. Diagnosis is often delayed, and patients may undergo unnecessary treatment procedures. Clinicians should be aware of this condition and exercise caution in the differential diagnosis of patients with chronic mandibular hypomobility.

후두암 감별진단에 있어 성문전도(Electroglottograph) 파라미터의 유용성 (The Effectiveness of Electroglottographic Parameters in Differential Diagnosis of Laryngeal Cancer)

  • 후두암은 유병율이 높지만 조기에 발견하면 90% 이상의 치유율과 발성기능의 보존이 가능하며 현재 음성분석을 이용한 진단법이 시도되고 있으나 정립된 선별검사법은 없는 실정이다. 성문전도검사(electroglottography, EGG)는 성대의 진동양상을 알 수 있는 비침습적 검사로서 발성과 음성합성의 연구에 많이 사용되고 있다. 본 연구는 EGG에서 관찰되는 파라미터들을 다층 퍼셉트론(multilayer perceptron)구조의 신경회로망(artificial neural network)으로 감별하는 기법을 이용하여 후두암 감별법에 대한 연구로서 부산대학교병원을 내원한 후두암 환자 10명과 양성후두질환 26명을 대상으로 새로 고안한 Electroglottograph(v1.0)를 이용하여 검사하고 이의 임상적 유용성을 평가하였다. EGG 파라미터인 closed quotient(CQ), speed quotient(SQ), speed index(SI), fundamental frequency(F0), Jitter, Shimmer 등은 MATLAB 6.5 (Mathwork, Inc.)로 작성한 분석 프로그램을 이용하여 추출하였다. 각 환자에서 추출된 EGG 파라미터들을 다층 퍼셉트론 구조의 신경회로망으로 감별하였다. CQ는 각 질환군 간에 유의한 차이가 없었지만 SQ, SI, Jitter, Shimmer 등은 성대질환의 특성에 따라 유의한 차이를 보였다. 신경회로망에서 감별한 결과 CQ를 제외한 SQ, SI, Jitter, Shimmer 등에서 71.3-90%의 후두암의 감별율을 보였다. 또한 SQ, SI, Jitter, Shimmer를 3개씩 조합한 실험에서는 SQ-Jitter-Shimmer와 SQ-SI-Shimmer의 후두암의 감별율이 93%로 가장 높았고, SQ-SI-Jitter 90.9%, SI-Jitter-Shimmer 88.6%로 전체적으로 85% 이상의 높은 감별율을 나타내었다. 이러한 결과는 EGG검사와 신경회로망을 이용한 양성과 악성 후두질환의 감별이 가능함을 시사한다. 향후 성대 질환의 병태생리를 대변할 수 있는 파라미터가 추가로 개발되고 분류 알고리듬이 개선된다면 EGG를 이용한 성대질환의 감별 진단이 보다 정확해질 것으로 사료되었다.

디스플레이 시스템을 위한 소면적 12-bit 300MSPS CMOS D/A 변환기의 설계 (Design of a Small Area 12-bit 300MSPS CMOS D/A Converter for Display Systems)

  • 본 논문에서는 디스플레이 시스템을 위한 소면적 12-bit 300MSPS의 D/A 변화기(DAC)를 제안한다. 최근 SoC(System-On-Chip) 경향에 맞는 소면적 DAC를 구현하기 위한 전체적인 구조는 6-MSB(Most Significant Bit) + 6-LSB(Least Significant Bit)의 full matrix 구조로 설계 하였다. 고해상도 동작에 요구되는 output impedance을 만족하는 monitoring bias 구조, 고속 동작 및 소면적 디지털 회로 구성을 위하여 logic과 latch 및 deglitching 역할을 동시에 할 수 있는 self-clocked switching logic을 각각 제안하였다. 설계된 DAC는 Samsung $0.13{\mu}m$ thick gate 1-poly 6-metal N-well CMOS 공정으로 제작되었다. 제작된 DAC의 측정결과 INL (Integrated Non Linearity) / DNL (Differential Non Linearity)은 ${\pm}3LSB$ / ${\pm}1LSB$ 이하로 나타났으며, 300MHz 샘플링 속도와 15MHz의 출력신호에서 SFDR은 약 70dB로 측정되었다. DAC의 유효면적은 $0.26mm^2$ ($510{\mu}m{\times}510{\mu}m$)로 기존의 DAC에 비하여 최대 40% 감소된 초소면적으로 구현되었으며, 최대 전력 소모는 100mW로 측정되었다.
