지질의 종류를 달리하였을 때 식이내 Vitamin E 첨가가 흰쥐의 혈청 Vitamin E 농도 및 지질성분에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Dietary Vitamin E supplement and Kinds of Lipid on the Serum vitamin E Concentration and Lipid Composition)

  • This study was performed to investigate the effect of dietary vitamin E supplement and kinds of lipid on the vitamin E concentration and lipid composition in serum of the rats fed fro seven weeks. Supplemented vitamin E was 300mg/kg diet as DL-α-tocopherol acetate, and 15% of corn oil or beef tallow was added to standard diet. The results were as follows ; 1) Body weight and feed efficiency ratio were significantly increased by supplement with vitamin E, corn oil and beef tallow. 2) Serum vitamin E concentration increased significantly by supplement of vitamin E and beef tallow on the diets, while one of corn oil fed group decreased significantly . 3) The contents of triglyceride, total cholesterol, phospholipid in serum were significantly increased in the beef tallow group, and the vitamin E only -supplemented group showed significantly lower serum cholesterol in serum increased significantly in the vitamin E only -fed group and vitamin E plus corn oil-fed group. 4) The content of HDL-cholesterol in serum increased significantly in the vitamin E only -fed group and vitmain e plus corn oil -fed group. 5) The ratio of VLDL, LDL-cholesterol content to HDL-cholesterol one in serum was significantly low in the vitamin E only-supplemented group and corn oil group, and was significantly higher in the beef tallow group than in the corn oil group.

코로나19 (COVID-19) 팬데믹에 대응하여 요구되는 여성호르몬이 강화된 캐나다산 식이 보충제의 동향 (Trends in Canadian Dietary Supplements Enhanced with Female Hormones Required in Response to the COVID-19 Pandemic)

  • As one of the post-COVID-19 response strategies, representative processed products derived from the natural plant material flaxseed and a dietary supplement fortified with female hormones (estrogens) were developed in Canada, an eco-friendly country was introduced. These products were: 1) flaxseed oil to help maintain cognitive and immune function, 2) Lignan50, a substance with effects similar to estrogen, a female hormone, 3) XanFlax, a thickener for confectionery/baking and egg substitute, 4) MediFlax, a constipation reliever, 5) SesaFlax, which has a fragrance similar to sesame, 6) Linusorb, which is effective for its pharmaceutical anti-inflammatory/anti-oxidation and anti-aging properties, and 7) LinuLyte, a water/electrolyte supplement containing high dietary fiber. It is expected that these dietary products will help maintain and promote health as part of a response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

청소년의 식이섭취와 비타민.무기질 보충제 복용에 관한 연구 (A Study of Dietary Intake and Vitamin/Mineral Supplement Usage among Adolescents)

  • 본 연구는 청소년의 비타민.무기질 보충제의 복용 실태의 식이로 부터 섭취하는 비타민.무기질의 양에 대해 알아보고자, 대도시, 중소도시, 농촌에 거주하는 인문계 여자고등학생 706명을 대상으로 하여 연구하였으며, 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 1) 조사대상자의 비타민.무기질 보충제 복용율은 43.8%였다. 도시지역 거주자가 농촌지역 거주자 보다, 가족의 월수입이 높을수록, 부모의 학력이 높을수록 비타민.무기질 보충제 복융율이 유의성 있게 높았다. 2) 건강에 대한 인지도, 건강염려증 척도, 체중에 대한 인지도, Broca 지수, 질병의 유무는 비타민.무기질 보충제 복용율에 유의적인 영향을 주었다. 건강상태가 좋지않다고 느끼며, 건강염려증의 점수가 높은 사람일수록 비타민.무기질 보충제의 복융율이 높았으며, Broca 지수가 정상이 아닌 군과 질병이 있는 군의 비타민.무기질 보충제의 복용율이 높았다. 3) 비타민.무기질 보충제 복용자의 신장은 비복용자와 차이가 없었고, 체중은 비복용자가 복용자에 비해 많았다. 4) 비타민.무기질 보충제 복용자와 비복용자 사이에 영양지식, 식습관의 차이는 나타나지 않았으나, 식습관이 양호한 군이 식습관이 불량한 군에 비해 비타민.무기질 보충제의 복용율이 높았다. 그러나 식습관 군별의 비타민.무기질 보충제 복용자와 비복용자 사이에 영양지식의 점수 차이는 없었다. 5) 비타민.무기질 보충제 복용자는 식이로 부터 비타민 A, 비타민 $B_2$, 나이아신, 비타민 C의 섭취량이 비복용자에 비해 적었다. 연구 대상자 모두 에너지, 비타민 $B_1$, 비타민 $B_2$, 나이아신, 칼슘, 철분의 섭취량이 권장량 보다 적었다. 특히 철분은 비타민.무기질 보충제 복용자의 60.1%, 비복용자의 74.1%가 권장량의 2/3 미만을 섭취하였으며, 기타의 비타민.무기질도 권장량의 2/3미만을 섭취하는 대상자가 많았다. 6) 비타민.무기질 보충제 복용자의 60.8%가 종합비타민을 복용하였으며, 비타민.무기질 보충제를 복용하는 복용하는 이유는 힘을 내기 위해서가 39.9%, 주의의 권유에 의해서 28.3%, 질병의 치료를 위해서 17.4%이다. 비타민.무기질 보충제 비복용자의 비타민.무기질 보충제를 복용하지 않는 이유는 건강하기 때문이 36.0%로 가장 많았으며, 귀찮아서, 식이로 충분히 섭취하기 때문에, 효과가 없어서의 순이었다. 비타민.무기질 보충제 복용자의 비타민.무기질 보충제 복용에 대한 견해는 효과가 있다. 23.3%, 효과가 없다 18.4%이며, 비복용자는 효과가 있다 16.6%, 효과가 없다 14.4%로 나타났다.

출하 전 마그네슘 단기급여가 돼지의 혈중 스트레스 관련 호르몬 함량 및 육질에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Dietary $MgSO_4$ Supplement on Serum Stress Hormones Concentrations and Pork Quality in Late Finishing Pigs)

  • 본 연구는 우리나라 도축장 현실에서 출하 전 마그네슘 단기 첨가 급여가 돈육 육질을 개선시키고 PSE 돈육 발생을 억제시킬 수 있는지를 구명하기 위하여 거세비육돈(Landrace) 60두를 대조구(MgSO₄ 무첨가구)와 MgSO₄ 급여구로 30두씩 나누어 도축 전 5일 동안 사료와 물을 무제한 급여하여 6일째 도축장으로 수송한 후 2시간 내에 도축하였다. 도축 전 MgSO₄ 첨가 급여는 도축 시 혈중 마그네슘 함량에 영향을 미치지 않았으며, 혈중 스트레스 관련 호르몬(adrenaline, noradrenaline) 역시 마그네슘 급여구와 대조구 사이에 차이가 없었다. 사후 초기 pH는 대조구가 더 높았고, 최종 pH는 유의적인 차이가 없었다. 사후 도체온도는 도축 직후 MgSO₄ 급여구가 더 높았으나 3시간과 6시간에는 비슷하였다. PSE 발생율은 대조구 30%, 마그네슘 급여구 23.3%로 마그네슘 급여구가 약간 낮은 경향을 보였으나 드립로스와 육색 명도에는 차이가 없었다. 비록 본 연구에 공시된 비육돈의 유전적 배경과 도축 전 비육돈의 취급방법이 기존 보고자들과 달랐지만 우리나라의 현실적인 여건을 고려할 때 마그네슘 첨가급여에 의해 돈육 육질을 개선하는 방법이 확립된다면 돼지 사육업자나 가공업자에게 큰 이익을 가져다줄 것이므로 마그네슘 효과를 극대화시킬 수 있는 방법을 찾아낸다면 경제적인 방법이 될 것으로 보인다.

Effects of Dietary Heat Extruded Soybean Meal and Protected Fat Supplement on the Production, Blood and Ruminal Characteristics of Holstein Cows

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of protected fat and heat-extruded soybean meal on the lactation performance of Holstein cows. Twenty-four cows, consisting of 20 lactating cows and 4 rumen-fistulated dry cows, were randomly allocated into four groups with 5 lactating cows and 1 fistulated cow in each group. A replicated 4${\times}$4 Latin square design with four 21 day periods, including 14 days of adaptation and 7 collection days within each period was employed. The experiment was a 2${\times}$2 arrangement, with or without heat-extruded soybean meal and protected fat inclusion. The dietary treatments consisted of supplements of (a) soybean meal (the control), (b) heat-extruded soybean meal, (c) protected fat, and (d) heat-extruded soybean meal and protected fat. The results showed that there were no significant differences in feed intake, milk yield, milk protein content, milk lactose content and body weight change between the dietary treatments. However, cows supplemented with protected fat showed a significantly increased (p<0.05) milk fat yield, 3.5% FCM and total solid yield. The increase in undegradable intake protein (UIP) via heat extruded soybean meal supplement significantly decreased the urea nitrogen concentration in the blood (p<0.05). Dietary fat inclusion significantly increased the blood cholesterol concentration (p<0.01) and decreased the ruminal pH value (p<0.01). Increased dietary UIP significantly decreased the ammonia nitrogen concentration in the rumen (p<0.01), but did not significantly influence the pH and VFA molar percentage in the rumen. It appears that dietary protected fat inclusion could improve milk fat and solid content. Increased dietary undegradable intake protein through heat extruded soybean meal did not improve milk yield. But it could alleviate the adverse effect of decreased milk protein due to dietary fat supplementation. Increased UIP could also decrease the ammonia nitrogen concentration in the rumen and plasma urea nitrogen concentration in the blood.

Effects of Dietary Chromium Picolinate Supplementation on Growth Performance and Immune Responses of Broilers

  • Two experiments were conducted to evaluate the effects of chromium (Cr) on the growth performance, bone trait, serum traits, and immune responses in broilers. The broilers were fed corn-soybean meal basal diet supplemented with Cr at level of 0(control), 200, 400, or 800 ppb in the form of chromium picolinate (CrPic). The broilers were fed treated diets for 6 weeks in Exp. 1, but the Cr supplement was removed for the last 3 weeks in Exp. 2. Exp. 1 showed that dietary supplement of Cr did not affect growth performance of the broiler, though improved feed efficiency (p<0.05) was observed during 0 to 3 weeks. Moreover, serum total (p<0.05) and HDL cholesterols (p<0.06) were significantly higher in pooled Cr added group at 6 weeks of age, however, the difference was not significant in Exp. 2. The pooled Cr added group in Exp.1 had significantly lower (p<0.05) alkaline phosphatase activity and higher (p<0.09) calcium at 3 weeks. Significantly lower phosphorus was also observed in Exp. 2. With continued supplement of Cr as in Exp. 1, the alkaline phosphatase activity maintained higher at 6 weeks, as opposed to significantly lower in Exp. 2, which had no further Cr supplement. Higher bone breaking strength was observed in 400 ppb Cr supplemented in Exp. 1, though not significantly different. Serum glucose and triglyceride were not affected by Cr supplement. Antibody against Infectious Bronchitis (IB) was significantly (p<0.05) higher with 400 ppb Cr supplemented, and anti-Newcastle disease (ND) antibody also tended to be higher (p<0.06) in pooled Cr added group at 6 weeks of age in Exp. 1. Peripheral blood blastogenesis activity was not different among the treatments. The results suggest that diet supplemented with 400 ppb CrPic may be beneficial to the broiler.

면역결핍 동물모델에서 울금 주정 추출물의 면역조절 효과 (Immunomodulatory Effects of Curcuma longa L. Extract in LP-BM5 Murine Leukemia Viruses-induced Murine Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome)

  • 본 연구에서는 울금 20% 주정 추출물이 LP-BM5 MuLV에 감염된 MAIDS 모델에서 면역조절 효과를 확인하기 위해 cytokines 생산, 혈장 면역글로불린 농도, T 세포 및 B 세포의 증식능, NK 세포의 활성능을 측정하였다. 그 결과 LPBM5 MuLV 감염으로 인하여 감소된 T 세포 및 B 세포의 증식능, NK 세포의 활성능을 울금 20% 주정 추출물 식이 투여가 증가시켰으며, Th1 type cytokines(IL-2, IFN-${\gamma}$)의 생성량을 증가시키고 Th2 type cytokines(IL-4, IL-10)은 억제시킴으로써 Th1/Th2 type cytokine 발현을 조절하여 면역 항상성을 유지하는 효과를 보였다. 따라서 울금은 면역조절 효과를 가진 천연 기능성 소재로서의 가능성을 기대할 수 있다.

유자차가 랫드 간암화과정에서 태반형 Glutathione S-transferase(GST-P) 양성 병소에 미치는 영향 (Suppressive Effects of Citron Tea on Induction of Placental Glutathione S-transferase(GST-P) Positive Foci)

  • The influences of dietary supplement of citron tea on the hepatocellular chemical carcinogenesis have been studied by examining placental glutathione S-transferase(GST-P) positive foci area in a liver tissue, contents of total cytochrome P450, thiobarbituric acid reactive substances(TBARS) and glucose 6-phosphatase(G6Pase) in hepatic microsome and glutathione S-transferase(GST) activity. Weaning Sprague-Dawley male rats were fed AIN76 diet with or without citron tea supplement. Rats of CTR and CTR+ groups were fed diet without citron tea supplement while CDI and CDI+ groups were fed diet with citron tea supplement for the entire experimental period(13 weeks). Rats of CDP and CDP+ groups were fed diet without citron tea supplement for the first 7 weeks and swiched to citron tea containing diet for the last 6 weeks of experimental period. CTR+, CDI+ and CDP+ groups were carcinogen treated group. Diethylnitrosamine(DEN) was used as a carcinogen initiator and injected to the rats of carcinogen treated groups as a single dose of 200 mg/kg body weight intraperitoneally after 4 weeks of feeding. 2-Acethylaminofiuorene(AAF) was used as a carcinogen promoter and supplied in the diets of carcinogen treated rats as 0.02% content for the last 6 weeks starting from 2 weeks after DEN injection. Rats were sacrificed after 13 weeks of feeding. Liver/body weight ratio and GST activities were increased by carcinogen treatment. However, they were not changed by citron tea supplement. Total cytochrome P450 contents were not changed by carcinogen treatment or citron tea supplement. TBARS contents of carcinogen treated rats showed tendency to decrease by citron tea supplement. G6Pase activity decreased by carcinogen treatment and citron tea supplement. The area of GST-P positive foci detected in carcinogen treated rats were decreased by citron tea supplement and not affected by the timing and the duration of citron tea supplement. These results suggest that citron tea has suppressive effects on hepatocellular chemical carcinogenesis probably through antioxidant compounds by decreasing TBARS contents.
