그물코쥐치의 먹이습성의 일별 변화: 낮은 잡식성, 밤은 육식성 (Diel Changes in the Diet of Rudarius ercodes: A Diurnal Omnivore and Nocturnal Carnivore)

  • 진동만 잘피밭에 서식하는 그물코쥐치의 먹이습성의 일별변화를 조사하였다. 출현한 그물코쥐치는 1.6~4.3 cm SL의 범위였으며, 주요 먹이생물은 단각류에 속하는 옆새우류, 잘피, 갯지렁이류, 그리고 미삭동물이었다. 그물코쥐치의 먹이습성의 일별변화는 뚜렷하였다. 낮에는 잘피와 옆새우류를 주로 먹은 잡식성을, 밤에는 옆새우류, 갯지렁이류, 그리고 미삭동물을 주로 먹는 육식성을 나타내었다. 이와 같은 결과는 낮보다는 밤에 이들 먹이생물의 활동이 활발하여 그물코쥐치가 섭이하기가 용이하였던 것으로 판단된다. 또한 그물코쥐치의 섭이활동은 저조보다는 고조에 활발하였다.

영양상태에 따른 학령전 아동의 건강 및 식생활 요인평가 (Evaluation of Factors Associated with Healthe and Diet of Preschool Children by Nutritional Status)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the factors associated with health and diet by nutritional status. The subjects were the children aged 2 to 6. Physicians and nurses measured children's anthropometries and examined their blood and urine. Interviewers questioned children's food habits to their mothers. 24 hour recall was done for children with their mother. The nutritional status was classified to 'underweight', 'normal weight' and 'overweight' by weight for height(median±1 S.D.) of the reference population. The number of subjects in each group(under, normal, over) was 25, 130 and 49. Factors including anthropometry and hemoglobin concentration were not significantly dif ferent by the nutritional status. The birth weight of children was correlated positively to mothers' BMI. Z scores of weight for height were related to the birth weight positively by the analysis of variance. The children of the underweight group used nutritional supplements more frequently than those of normal and overweight group. The nutrient intakes of normal weight group were higher than those of low and overweight group. Particularly, the intakes of energy, carbohydrate and calcium were significantly high among the groups. In terms of number of foods, food groups and dishes consumed per day, the children of the normal weight group ate more diversely than other groups but the differences were not significant. In conclusion, the children of normal weight group had similar characteristics with other groups but had more desirable dietary intakes than other groups in this study. Because the diet of children may be different by the nutritional status, nutrition education for children should be conducted according to the characteristics of each group's diet.

중년기 남녀의 체중 감량 시도 여부에 따른 건강 관련 생활습관과 식행동의 차이 (Relations Among Weight Control Behaviors, Health-related Lifestyles, and Diet Behaviors in Middle Aged Koreans)

  • In this study, we compared demographic anthropometric characteristic, health-related lifestyle and diet behavior among weight control behaviors of 1187 (555 male, 632 female) aged $40{\sim}69yrs$ in Ganghwa country. All the data were analyzed by chi-square test, trend test, student t-test using SPSS 12.0 version at p < 0.05. 'Attempting weight control (loss)' was more in women than that was found in men (36.6% vs 20.7%), and women attempting weight loss most were 40-50 yrs. The reasons of weight loss were 'health problem' and 'health promotion'. Physical activity and diet restriction were commonly employed as weight control methods. Both genders attempting weight loss had a higher education level, BMI, percentage of body fat, waist circumference and physical activity than those not attempting weight control (p < 0.05). In dietary habits like 'meal regularity', 'slow eating' and 'over eating', women attempting weight loss were superior than those who not attempting weight control group (p < 0.05). Eating pattern changes like 'decrease of fats and fatty foods intake', 'vegetable oil usage', 'increase of fruit and vegetables intake', 'decrease of sugar and salt intake' showed significant differences (p < 0.001) between the attempted weight control groups and nonattempted weight control groups. Salt taste was a preference in male non-attempted weight control group, while sour, hot and spicy taste were preference in female attempted weight control group (p < 0.05). Preference for processed foods, fried foods and snack were significant differences (p < 0.05) in women attempted weight control group. Those attempting weight loss tried to improve their eating patterns. However, those attempting weight loss were poorer than the others in health-related lifestyle and eating habit. Therefore, it is necessary to make an effort that improve healthrelated lifestyle and diet behavior in middle aged group.

Dietary life and mukbang- and cookbang-watching status of university students majoring in food and nutrition before and after COVID-19 outbreak

  • Purpose: With increased time spent at home due to prolonged online classes, this study sought to determine how the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has impacted the mukbang- and cookbang-watching patterns and dietary life of college students. Methods: All students majoring in food and nutrition (FN) at a college in Gyeonggi, Korea, participated in the survey in April 2019 (M/F = 36/106) and June 2020 (M/F -37/130) and data were analyzed using SPSS 26.0. Results: Compared to students responding in 2019, those in 2020 reported more frequently eating alone (p < 0.01) and cooking (p < 0.01), and evaluated their diets better regarding pleasant mealtimes atmosphere (p < 0.05), moderation in drinking (p < 0.05), and not consuming excessively delivery foods (p < 0.001), processed foods (p < 0.01), foods with animal fat (p < 0.01), salty foods (p < 0.01), and sweets (p < 0.01). Although the proportion of respondents who answered that they watched mukbang and cookbang at least occasionally did not change, greater proportions of respondents reported watching both genres frequently (p < 0.001, respectively) and spending less time/day in watching mukbang (p < 0.05) in 2020 vs. 2019. While they evaluated the effect of mukbang- and cookbang-watching on overall diet similarly, the proportion of respondents that reported feeling as though mukbang-watching prompted them to eat more of less-desirable foods decreased from 54.3% to 41.5% (p < 0.05). Diet improvement of participants due to COVID-19 resulted in that the association between frequent mukbang-watching and unhealthier dietary habits in 2019 was not shown in 2020. Conclusion: Our results suggest that the prolonged at-home stays due to COVID-19 might have improved many aspects of diet and decreased undesirable effect of frequent mukbang-watching in case of college students majoring in FN.

경남지역 일부 인문계 및 전문계 고등학교 남학생들의 식습관, 영양지식 및 건강관련행동에 관한 비교 연구 (Comparison of Dietary Habits, Nutritional Knowledge, and Health-related Behaviors between Academic and Specialized Male High School Students in Gyeongnam)

  • This study aimed to compare the dietary habits, nutritional knowledge, and health-related behaviors of students by high school type using questionnaires. The subjects were 586 male students (academic high school students (AS); 294, specialized high school students (SS); 292) in Jinju, Gyeongnam. The frequencies of eating breakfast and snacks were higher in AS than in SS (p<0.05), whereas the frequency of drinking was higher in SS than in AS (p<0.05). The main reason for skipping breakfast was 'poor appetite' in AS (45.2%) and 'lack of time' in SS (56.5%) (p<0.05). Favorite snacks included 'pizza, hamburger' (33.0%) and 'bread, noddle, ramyun' (31.0%) in AS as well as 'pizza, hamburger' (32.5%) and 'fruit, fruit juice' (26.0%) in SS. A mean of 56.2% of students ate an unbalanced diet, and the main reason was 'untasty' (47.2%). The frequency of eating out was higher in SS than in AS (p<0.05), and the main menu while eating out was 'Korean food' in AS (96.3%) and SS (90.3%). The frequency of 'meat, fish, egg, beans' was higher in AS than in SS (p<0.05). On the other hand, the frequencies of 'fruit, fruit juices' (p<0.05), 'milk, milk products' (p<0.01), 'seaweeds' (p<0.05), 'instant foods' (p<0.001) and 'soda and ion drinks' (p<0.001) were higher in SS than in AS. The mean rates of drinking and smoking in students were 84% and 29.5%, respectively. The main reason for drinking and smoking was 'to relieve stress' in AS (38.0%) and SS (30.9%) (p< 0.001). In general, the nutritional knowledge level of SS was higher than that of AS. In conclusion, there were significant differences in the frequencies of eating breakfast, food intake, drinking and reasons for eating snacks, unbalanced diet, drinking and smoking between AS and SS. Therefore, it's necessary to provide proper nutritional education for students according to high school type.

대구지역 유아들의 식사 및 식생활 형태 조사 - 식품 섭취패턴 및 식사다양성 평가 - (Study of Food Intakes and Eating Patterns among Preschool Children in Daegu Area - Assessment of Dietary Pattern and Dietary Diversity -)

  • This study was conducted to assess dietary pattern and dietary diversity of preschool children by investigating their food consumption. To accomplish this, dietary intake survey (24 hour-recall food diary) was administered to 508 children aged between 4 to 6 years old from 4 kindergartens in the Daegu area (415 were completed). By using CAN pro 3.0 for professionals, the dietary patterns and dietary diversity scores of each food group were examined by age and sex. Data were analyzed with SPSS 12.0, and $\chi^2$, t-test and Anova test, and Duncan's multiple range test used for verifying significance. For 4~5-year-old group, boys had significantly more fruit and meats than girls (p < 0.05), but girls had more dairy food than boys with no significance. For 6-year-old group, boys had significantly more foods, milk and dairy foods than girls (p<0.05), and also boys had more vegetables and fruit than girls with no significance. For DDS (Dietary Diversity Score), the score of 6-year-old group was significantly higher than that of younger children (p < 0.05) and the older the age was, the higher the score was. Dietary Pattern (GMVFD) was verified by 8 types, and the ratio of taking all five food groups (GMVFD = 11111) of the 6-year-old group was 48.8%. Children with older ages had more various foods than younger ones (p < 0.05). In addition, the ratio of taking less than the minimal intake of dairy foods of girls (48.1%) was higher than that of boys (41.3%). As results, unbalanced diet, overeating and not eating unbalanced diet were revealed as the problematic dietary habits among preschool children, and those habits may change positively with knowledge on nutrition grow on. Therefore, nutritional characteristics and importance of preschool children should be taught to parents and caregivers, and it must be practical and ready to use in cooking for these children to healthy dietary habits.

낙동강 하구역에 출현하는 문절망둑 (Acanthogobius flavimanus) 자치어의 식성 (Feeding Habits of Larval Acanthogobius flavimanus from the Nakdong River Estuary, Korea)

  • 낙동강 하구역에 서식하는 문절망둑 자치어의 식성을 밝히기 위해 2011년 2월부터 4월까지 RN80 네트를 이용하여 채집하였고, 그 중 260개체를 해부현미경을 이용하여 장내용물 분석을 실시하였다. 분석결과 문절망둑 자치어는 요각류와 유종섬모충류를 주로 섭식하였고, 그 외에도 갯지렁이 유생, 거구목(편형동물), 이매패류 유생, 윤충류, 따개비 유생, 규조류 등을 섭식하였다. 문절망둑 자치어는 시간대별로 다른 섭식강도를 보였는데, 18~19시 사이에 가장 높은 섭식참여율 보였고, 개체당 먹이생물 개체수는 18~01시까지 높은 수준을 유지하였다. 성장에 따른 문절망둑 자치어의 식성변화를 평가하기 위해 발생단계(3단계: 전기, 중기, 후기자어) 별로 먹이생물을 분석한 결과, 전기자어 시기에는 유종섬모충류를 주로 섭식하였고, 중기자어기에는 요각류, 후기자어 시기에는 갯지렁이 유생을 주로 섭식하였다. 문절망둑 자치어의 먹이생물의 평균크기는 성장에 따라 유의하게 증가하였고, 개체당 평균먹이생물 평균 개체수와 평균 부피도 증가하는 경향을 보였다. 먹이생물의 다양성을 나타내는 먹이 섭식 폭 지수는 중기자어 시기까지는 증가하다가 후기자어에 들어 급격히 감소하였다.

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to discover the changes in obesity prevalence and dietary habits in Korean adults residing in various residential areas during the last 10 years. Methods: Data on Korean adults aged 19 years and above was obtained from the 4th (2007-2009) and the 7th (2016-2018) Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. The subjects were classified into metropolitan (4th: n=5,977, 7th: n=6,651), urban (4th: n=4,511, 7th: n=5,512) and rural (4th: n=3,566, 7th: n=2,570) based on their residence. The general characteristics, nutrient intake, intake amount, food groups, and healthy dietary factors were analyzed. The association between residential areas and obesity prevalence were analyzed by multiple logistic regression. Results: In urban and rural areas, the obesity rate increased in the 7th survey compared to the 4th survey, excluding the metropolitan area. The carbohydrate intake decreased, and lipid intake increased in the 7th survey compared to the 4th survey. Over the same period, the intake of cereals and vegetables decreased, and the intake of meat and processed foods increased. Rural residents had a higher intake of cereals and vegetables, and a lower intake of milk and processed foods than those in metropolitan areas and urban residents. The proportion of subjects who practiced a healthy diet increased in the 7th survey compared to the 4th survey. In the 4th survey, there was no relationship seen between the prevalence of obesity and the subject's residential area, but in the 7th survey, the odds ratio of obesity was higher in rural areas than in the metropolitan areas, confirming the regional gap (OR: 1.16, 95% CI=1.00-1.36, P=0.044). Conclusions: This study showed that the obesity prevalence increased in rural residents compared to metropolitan residents, indicating a gap between the regions. The nutrient intake and intake of food groups changed in the 10 years under consideration, and there were differences seen between regions. Therefore, it is necessary to formulate a policy that will reduce obesity prevalence and health inequalities between regions.

한국 제주 연안에 출현하는 부세(Larimichthys crocea)의 식성 (Feeding Habits of the Large Yellow Croaker, Larimichthys crocea in the Coastal Waters of Jeju Island, Korea)

  • 2021년 6월부터 2022년 5월까지 제주 연안에서 대형쌍끌이 저인망으로 어획된 부세 816개체의 위내용물 조성, 크기군과 계절군에 따른 위내용물 조성의 변화, 크기군과 계절군 간의 섭식관계를 분석하였다. 이번 연구에서 분석한 부세의 전장 범위는 19.8~57.4 cm였으며, 20.0~25.0 cm의 크기군이 가장 높은 비율을 차지하였다. 부세의 가장 중요한 먹이생물은 57.5%의 상대중요도지수비를 차지한 어류였으며, 다음으로는 난바다곤쟁이류와 새우류가 우점하였다. 부세의 크기군별 위내용물 조성의 변화는 유의한 차이가 나타났는데, 성장함에 따라 난바다곤쟁이류의 섭식비율은 감소하고, 어류의 섭식비율은 증가하였다. 계절군별 위 내용물 조성의 변화 또한 유의한 차이가 나타났다. 부세의 동계와 춘계에 가장 중요한 먹이생물은 어류였으며, 하계에는 새우류, 추계에는 난바다곤쟁이류였다. 크기군과 계절군 간의 섭식관계를 분석한 결과, 부세는 크기군과 계절군의 상호작용에서 유의한 차이를 나타내었다.

식품섭취실태 및 폐경여부에 따른 원주지역 성인여성들의 체성분 조성 (Influence of Food Intake on the Body Composition of Women in Wonju)

  • This study was carried out to investigate the relative influence of food intake and menopause on the body composition and bone quality index of women in Wonju who were voluntary participants in a community nutrition program. The status of food intake was examined using a semi-quantitative food frequency questionnaire. A bioelectrical impedance analysis tool (Inbody 2.0) and SONOST 2000 were used for estimating body composition including criteria such as TWB (Total body water), SLM (Soft lean mass), LBM (Lean body mass), PBF (% body fat) and WHR (Waist hip ratio), and BQI (Bone quality index). 82% of the subjects were over the age of 40. The percentage of overweight subjects was 64.3% overall, and higher in the advanced age group while underweight was prevalent in younger subjects. Although only 8.6% of the total subjects skipped breakfast, this habit was more prevalent in subjects in their twenties and the underweight group. Variables, such as age, menstruation status, and breakfast eating habits were significant factors considered in relation to food intake from 7 food groups. Generally, older aged women ate more vegetables while the younger group consumed more simple sugars and lipids. The subjects who were underweight or skipped breakfast tended to drink higher amounts of soft drinks. With increasing age, BMI, PBF and WHR increased also, and TWB, SLM, LBM, and BQI decreased. According to correlation analysis, WHR has a positive correlation with PBF. BQI correlated with SLM and LBM positively, and with PBF and WHR negatively. Over 93.3% of the subjects over the age of 30 were assessed as having abdominal obesity. It was revealed that body composition was affected not only by age, obesity degree and menstruation status but by various food intake habits. Body composition including WHR and BQI had put many of the subjects' health in danger of metabolic disorders. Therefore, it is important to emphasize keeping in place some helpful habits such as eating regularly, having a proper diet which includes many vegetables, and continued milk intake even after menopause to insure women's good health.
