일부 여대생의 영양소섭취와 심혈관기능 혈액지표와의 관련성에 관한 연구 (The Relation between Nutrient Intakes and Blood Parameters of Cardiovascular Function of Female College Students in Chungnam)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between nutrient intakes and blood parameters of cardiovascular function in 40 female college students on self-selected diet in Chungnam. Anthropometric measurements, analysis of dietary intakes and blood composition were conducted. Serum levels of triglyceride, total cholesterol, HDL-cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, CK-MB, and LDH were measured by biochemical analyzer. The results were summarized as follows. The mean age of the subjects was 22.5$\pm$1.2 years. The weight, height and BMI were 52.4$\pm$7.2kg, 161.3$\pm$5.7cm and 20.2$\pm$2.4, respectively. Daily energy and lipid intakes were 1634.2$\pm$ 437.7kcal and 46.8$\pm$17.0g. And the ratio of carbohydrate, protein, and lipid to energy intake was 59.2 : 14.5 : 26.3. Serum concentrations appeared to be 61.1$\pm$ 24.2mg/dl(triglyceride), 141.2$\pm$330.mg/dl(total cholesterol), 64.8$\pm$ 20.1mg/dl(HDL-cholesterol), 64.1$\pm$ 25.4mg/dl(LDL-cholesterol), 7.2$\pm$3.2IU/l (CK-MB), 107.9$\pm$23.4IU/l (LDH). In the relation between nutrient intakes and serum parameters, vitamin $B_1$ intake showed positive correlation with triglyceride, HDL-cholesterol, and CK-MB, respectively(p<0.001, p<0.05, p<0.05). Vitamin $B_2$intake had positive correlation with triglyceride(p<0.05). And vitamin C intake had negative correlation with HDL-cholesterol(p<0.05). From these results, it is suggested that the intakes of micro nutrients such as vitamin $B_1$, vitamin $B_2$, vitamin C have relation with cardiovascular function in female college students. However, further systematic research is needed to investigate the functions of micro nutrients in healthy persons for prevention of chronic diseases.

American ginseng significantly reduced the progression of high-fat-diet-enhanced colon carcinogenesis in ApcMin/+ mice

  • Background: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a leading cause of death worldwide. Chronic gut inflammation is recognized as a risk factor for tumor development, including CRC. American ginseng is a very commonly used ginseng species in the West. Methods: A genetically engineered $Apc^{Min/+}$ mouse model was used in this study. We analyzed the saponin composition of American ginseng used in this project, and evaluated its effects on the progression of high-fat-diet-enhanced CRC carcinogenesis. Results: After oral ginseng administration (10-20 mg/kg/d for up to 32 wk), experimental data showed that, compared with the untreated mice, ginseng very significantly reduced tumor initiation and progression in both the small intestine (including the proximal end, middle end, and distal end) and the colon (all p < 0.01). This tumor number reduction was more obvious in those mice treated with a low dose of ginseng. The tumor multiplicity data were supported by body weight changes and gut tissue histology examinations. In addition, quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction analysis showed that compared with the untreated group, ginseng very significantly reduced the gene expression of inflammatory cytokines, including interleukin-$1{\alpha}$ (IL-$1{\alpha}$), IL-$1{\beta}$, IL-6, tumor necrosis factor-${\alpha}$, granulocyte-colony stimulating factor, and granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor in both the small intestine and the colon (all p < 0.01). Conclusion: Further studies are needed to link our observed effects to the actions of the gut microbiome in converting the parent ginsenosides to bioactive ginseng metabolites. Our data suggest that American ginseng may have potential value in CRC chemoprevention.

Carcass and Meat Characteristics and Gene Expression in Intramuscular Adipose Tissue of Korean Native Cattle Fed Finishing Diets Supplemented with 5% Palm Oil

  • We hypothesized that supplementing finishing diets with palm oil would promote adipogenic gene expression but depress stearoyl-CoA desaturase (SCD) gene expression in intramuscular (i.m.) adipose tissues of Hanwoo steers during fattening period (from 16 to 32 mon of age). Fourteen Hanwoo steers were allotted randomly to 2 groups of 7 steers based on initial BW and fed either a basal diet (control) or the basal diet supplemented with 5% palm oil (BDSP). At slaughter, i.m. adipose tissue was harvested for analysis of adipogenic gene expression and fatty acid composition. There were no differences in BW or average daily gain between treatment groups. Supplemental palm oil had no effect on carcass quality traits (carcass weight, backfat thickness, loin muscle area, or marbling scores) or meat color values. Palm oil increased (p<0.05) expression of AMP-activated protein kinase-${\alpha}$ and peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-${\gamma}$, but decreased (p<0.05) CAAT/enhancer binding protein-${\beta}$ gene expression and tended to decrease stearoyl-CoA desaturase gene expression in i.m. adipose tissue. Palm oil increased total i.m. polyunsaturated fatty acids (p<0.05) compared to the control i.m. adipose tissue, but had no effect on saturated or monounsaturated fatty acids. Although there were significant effects of supplemental palm oil on i.m. adipose tissue gene expression, the absence of negative effects on carcass and meat characteristics indicates that palm oil could be a suitable dietary supplement for the production of Hanwoo beef cattle.

우모분 및 우모분 Digest 첨가가 우유 내 Taurine 함량에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Dietary Supplementation of Feather Meal and It's Digest on Taurine Content of Cow Milk)

  • This study, consisting of three experiments, was conducted to determine the effects of feeding feather meal (FM), feather meal digest (FMD), L-cystine and methionine hydroxyl analogue (MHA) on taurine content of milk and milk production of Holstein dairy cows. In experiment 1, FM or FMD was supplemented at 0, 1, 3 and 5% of dry matter intake (DMI), respectively. Taurine concentration of 3% FM and 5% FMD treatment were increased by 14% and 220/0, respectively. The 5% FM treatment had a negative effect on milk yield and FM and FMD treatments had no significant or consistent effects on milk fat, protein, lactose, milk urea nitrogen (MUN) and somatic cell count (SCC). In experiment 2, Lcystine or MHA was supplemented at 0, 1, 3, and 5g or ml/d along with 5% FMD, respectively. Milk yield decreased at 3 and 5g or ml Lcystine or MHA supplementation along with 5% FMD. Fat and lactose in milk were not significantly affected by treatments. However, milk protein level increased significantly in the 5 ml HMA with 5% FMD treatment. SCC decreased significantly in 1ml MHA with 5% FMD supplemented treatment but increased in 5g Lcystine with 5% FMD and 5 ml MHA with 5% FMD treatments. Increase of milk taurine concentration of L'cystine with 5% FMD treatments was not significant but those of MHA with 5% FMD treatments were significantly higher than the control. The highest increase of milk taurine concentration was 65% shown in 1 ml MHA with 5% FMD treatment. In experiment 3, 5% FM, 5% FM+3% molasses or 5% FM+3% molasses+l ml MHA was supplemented to the based TMR diet. The molasses treatments (5% FM+3% molasses and 5% FM+3% molasses+l ml MHA) showed significantly higher milk taurine content than the 5% FM treatment. The molasses treatments significantly reduced MUN but increased SCC. It was concluded that FMD is more effective than FM in enriching taurine in milk. Maximum taurine enrichment (65%) in the milk was obtained by supplementation of 5% FMD/DM1+1 ml MHA/d/cow. Molasses supplementation to 5% FM diet increased milk taurine content. However, MHA supplementation in dairy cows increased ruminal escape, gastrointestinal absorption and response of serum methionine.

인진쑥 급여가 성별에 따른 육성-비육기 돈육의 도체 및 육질특성에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Dietary Mugwort Powder on Carcass and Meat Quality Characteristics of Gilt and Barrow in Growing-Finishing Period)

  • 본 연구에서는 인진쑥의 건조 분말을 육성기-비육기의 거세돈 및 암퇘지(LY×D)의 평균체중이 50.37kg일 때부터 출하시까지 90일간 처리하였을 때 도체특성, 일반성분, 콜레스테롤 함량, 육질특성에 미치는 영향을 조사하기 위해 실시하였다. 일반사료에 인진쑥 분말을 급여사료 기준으로 C(0%), T1(0.5%), T2(1.0%), T3(1.5%) 처리하였다. 도체중의 경우 T2 및 T3의 증체량이 대조구보다 유의적으로 높게 나타났으나(p<0.05), 등지방 두께 및 도체 등급의 유의적인 차이가 없었다. 수분, 지방, 회분, 콜레스테롤 함량은 시험구간의 유의적인 차이가 나타나지 않았으나(p>0.05), T2 및 T3의 단백질 함량이 대조구보다 유의적으로 높은 값을 나타내었다(p<0.05). pH, WHC, 가열감량신선육 및 지방의 전단가의 유의적인 차이가 나타나지 않았다(p>0.05). 육색 및 지방의 백색도(CIE L*)는 T2 및 T3가 유의적으로 높게 나타났으나(p<0.01), 육색 및 지방의 적색도(CIE a*) 및 황색도(CIE b*)가 유의적인 차이가 나타나지 않았으며(p>0.05), 전단가의 유의적인 차이가 나타나지 않았다(p>0.05).

감귤의 발효와 발효산물의 기능적 특성 (Fermentation of Citrus unshiu Marc. and Functional Characteristics of the Fermented Products)

  • 본 연구는 젖산균과 효모에 의해 발효처리한 감귤의 기능적 특성을 파악하고자 수행되었다. 발효감귤 추출물의 항산화도는 발효하지 않은 감귤 추출물과 비교할 때 뚜렷하게 증가하였다. 또한, 대조구와 비교할 때 발효처리한 감귤 추출물에서 플라보노이드 조성변화가 나타났으며, 각각 naringenin, hesperetin의 농도가 증가하였다. 감귤은 발효처리와 상관없이 HepG2 세포의 세포사멸 보호효과를 나타내었으나, 발효처리구에서 세포사멸 보호효과와 ROS(Reactive oxygen species) 생성 감소효과가 더욱 차별적으로 나타났다. 수컷의 Sprague-Dawley rat에 감귤 추출물과 발효감귤 추출물을 경구 투여하였다, 체중은 다른 실험군에 비해 발효감귤 추출물의 고농도 투여(100 mg/kg 체중)에서 유의적으로 감소하였고 혈장 콜레스테롤 함량은 다소 감소하였으나, 다른 실험구에 비하여 유의적인 차이는 나타나지 않았다. 고지방 식이에 의해 유도된 지방간 형성은 발효 감귤 추출물 투여에 의해 유의하게 감소되었다. 본 연구 결과는 발효 감귤 추출물은 세포수준에서 감귤추출물에 비해 증강된 세포 사멸 보호효과와 항산화 효과를 나타내며, 동물실험에서는 고 지방 식이에 의해 유도된 지방간 형성을 저해하는 효과를 보여 주었다.

저수온기 넙치 치어에 있어서 스피룰리나와 아스타잔틴의 사료 내 첨가효과 (Effects of Dietary Supplementation of Spirulina and Astaxanthin for Juvenile Olive Flounder, Paralichthys olivaceus in Low Temperature Season)

  • 본 실험은 사료 내 스피룰리나와 아스타잔틴의 첨가가 겨울철 저수온기 넙치 치어의 성장과 조직 내 항산화활성 효과를 알아보기 위하여 수행되었다. 총 180마리의 치어기 넙치(초기 평균무게, $27.8{\pm}0.3g$)를 3반복으로 12개의 수조에 배치하였다. 4가지 실험사료는 기초사료를 이용한 대조구와 기초사료에 아스타잔틴을 0.5% 첨가한 AST사료, 스피룰리나를 0.5% 첨가한 SPI사료, 그리고 아스타잔틴과 스피룰리나를 각각 0.5% 씩 혼합하여 첨가한 AST+SPI사료로 제조되었다. 6주간의 사육실험 후, 사료 내 스피룰리나와 아스타잔틴을 첨가한 실험구의 성장률, 일간성장률, 사료효율, 단백질전환효율, 혈액분석 및 전어체분석 결과에서 대조구와 비교하여 유의적인 차이가 없었다. 항산화활성도를 위한 실험사료와 간에서의 DPPH 저해활성 분석결과에서도 모든 실험구 사이에서 유의적인 차이를 보이지않았다. 분석결과에서 유의적인 차이를 보이지 않았지만, 스피룰리나 첨 가구에서 대조구보다 높은 DPPH 저해활성 경향을 보였으며, 생존율은 아스타잔틴 첨 가구에서 84.4%, 대조구에서 60.0%를 보였다. 본 실험 결과, 사료 내 스피룰리나와 아스타잔틴의 0.5%첨가는 넙치치어의 성장과 사료효율, 혈액성상, 체성분 등에 영향을 미치지 않은 것으로 판단된다.

사료 내 홍삼박과 겨우살이 분말 첨가 급여가 육계의 생산성 및 계육의 품질에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Dietary Supplementation of Red Ginseng Mare and Korean Mistletoe Powder on Performance and Meat Quality of Broiler Chicken)

  • 본 시험은 육계에 홍삼박과 겨우살이를 급여하여 5주간 사육한 육계의 생산성과 계육의 일반 성분, 혈액 성상, pH, TBARS, 보수성, 전단력 및 육색을 조사하였다. 실험구는 홍삼박과 겨우살이를 급여하지 않은 처리구를 대조구, 홍삼박 0.5% 급여구는 T1, 홍삼박 1% 급여구는 T2, 겨우살이 0.5% 급여구는 T3, 그리고 겨우살이 1% 급여구를 T4 등 4개 처리구로 나누어 사양하였다. 육계의 생산성은 처리구간 유의적인 변화는 없었고, 폐사율은 대조구보다 홍삼박과 겨우살이 급여구에서 낮아졌다(P<0.05). 계육의 수분, 조단백질 및 조회분 등의 일반 성분은 유의성이 없었으며, 조지방은 홍삼박과 겨우살이 급여구에서 낮았다. 육계의 혈액 성상 중 총 콜레스테롤과 LDL-cholesterol 함량은 대조구보다 홍삼박과 겨우살이 급여구에서 감소하였고, HDL-cholesterol은 증가하였으며, triglyceride와 glucose 함량은 유의한 변화가 없었다. TBARS는 대조구보다 홍삼박과 겨우살이 급여구에서 유의하게 낮아, 육계의 저장성 개선에 도움이되리라 생각된다. 육색은 CIE $L^*$값과 CIE $b^*$값은 홍삼박과 겨우살이 급여에 의한 변화는 없었지만, CIE $a^*$값은 T4에서 증가하였다. 결론적으로 홍삼박과 겨우살이를 급여하면 육계의 폐사율이 낮아지고, 총콜레스테롤과 LDL-cholesterol 함량이 감소하며, HDL-cholesterol이 증가함으로 혈액성상을 개선할 가능성이 있는 것으로 판단된다.

NaF 함량을 달리한 투여가 흰쥐의 지질 및 혈당농도와 A/G 비에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Various Sodium Fluoride (NaF) Administration on Blood Glucose, Lipid Composition and A/G Ratio in Rats)

  • NaF를 용량별로 Sprague Dawley계 수컷 흰쥐에 경구 투여했을 때, 체중 및 장기 중량, 혈청 지질성분, 혈당 및 단백질 함량과 기본식이를 급여한 대조군인 BD군을 비롯하여 기본식이에 농도별 NaF를 경구 투여한 군들로 나누어 5주간 실험 사육한 결과, 흰쥐의 체중 증가량은 NF25군, NF30군 및 NF50군에서 대조군보다 유의적인 차이를 보이며 높게 나타났다(p<0.05). 각 장기무게에서의 변화 중 간장과 심장에서는 대조군에 비해 NaF 경구 투여 군에서 낮게 나타나는 경향이 관찰 되었으며(p<0.05), 폐, 뇌, 신장, 비장 및 고환에서의 각 군의 장기무게는 유의적인 차이가 없었다(p<0.05). 혈청 중 총 콜레스테롤, LDL 콜레스테롤, 유리 콜레스테롤, 중성지방, 인지질, 혈당 농도는 대조군보다 NaF 경구 투여한 군에서 NaF 농도가 높아짐에 따라 증가하였고, HDL 콜레스테롤 농도는 NaF 농도에 따라 점차 감소하는 것으로 관찰되었다. 혈청 중 총 단백질은 NF50군에서 유의적인 차이를 보이며 낮게 나타났으나 나머지 군에서 유의적 차이가 없는 것으로 나타났으며(p<0.05), 알부민 농도와 글로불린 농도 또한 NF50군에서 가장 낮은 결과치로 나타났다. 반면 알부민/글로불린 비는 NaF 농도와 관계가 없는 것으로 관찰되었다. 따라서 일정 이상 농도의 NaF 경구 투여는 흰쥐의 체중 및 지질성분을 증가시키는 것으로 판단되며, 이는 비만 및 이상지질혈증을 초래할 수 있을 것으로 추정된다.

사료 공급율 및 공급횟수가 저수온기에 사육된 넙치 미성어의 성장 및 체조성에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Feeding Rate and Feeding Frequency on Growth and Body Composition of Sub-adult Flounder Paralichthys olivaceus in Suboptimal Water Temperature)

  • Two 15-week feeding trials were conducted to investigate feeding rate and feeding frequency for growth of sub-adult flounder in suboptimal water temperature ($12^{\circ}C$). In the first experiment, duplicated groups of fish (initial mean weight of 279 g) were fed a extruded pellet once a day at the different feeding rates of 0.1, 0.15, 0.2, 0.3% body weight per day (BW/d), and satiation (0.32% BW/d). Weight gain and feed efficiency were increased significantly (P<0.05) with increase in feeding rates from 0.1 to 0.3% BW/d, but there were no significant differences in weight gain and feed efficiency of fish fed the diet between 0.3% BW/d and to satiation. Crude protein content of dorsal muscle of fish fed the 0.1% BW/d diet was significantly (P<0.05) lower than that of the other groups. In the second experiment, duplicated groups of fish (initial mean weight of 281 g) were fed to apparent satiation with a extruded pellet at three different feeding frequencies (one meal every two days, one meal a day and two meals a day). Weight gain, feed efficiency and condition factor of fish fed one meal every two days were significantly (P<0.05) lower than those of fish fed one meal and two meals a day, but there were no significant differences in weight gain, feed efficiency and condition factor of fish fed between one meal and two meals a day. Based on the results of this study, optimum feeding frequency is one meal a day with satiation feeding for growth and feed efficiency of sub-adult flounder (270-350 g) in suboptimal water temperature ($12^{\circ}C$).
