알루미늄 다이캐스팅 공정에서 사출 슬리브 온도변화에 따른 파단칠층의 거동 (The Behavior of Chill Layers with Temperature Variation of Shot Sleeve in Aluminum Diecasting Process)

  • In this study, the effects of chill layers occurred in shot sleeve on the molten metal filling were analyzed through computer simulation and the behavior of chill layers with temperature variation of shot sleeve set from 200 to $280^{\circ}C$ was also investigated. The simulation results showed the chill layers set in the in-gates during the injection process change the main filling direction and cause turbulent flow pattern, resulting in porosities inside the castings. The amount of chill layers with the increasing temperature of shot sleeve was considerably reduced. And particularly, at the setting temperature of $280^{\circ}C$ by heat control unit, the big reduction in chill layers, excellent trimmed surface and the highest densification were achieved, suggesting that as the optimal sleeve condition in diecasting, especially for the highly complex parts like valve body.

다이캐스팅 ADC12 합금의 열처리 전후의 기계적 특성변화 (Change of Mechanical Properties During Heat Treatment of Diecast ADC12 Alloy)

  • We investigated the effect of heat treatment on an ADC12 alloy produced using diecasting. The heat treatment used in this study was a typical T6 process: a solid solution treatment followed by an artificial aging treatment. As-cast specimens were solid-solution-treated at $500^{\circ}C$ and $530^{\circ}C$ for 1-16 hr, and aged at $160^{\circ}C$ and $180^{\circ}C$ for 1-8 hr. Microstructural changes in the alloy during the heat treatment were observed. Changes in mechanical properties of the alloy were measured using a micro-Vickers hardness tester. Finally, we determined the optimal heat treatment conditions for the diecast ADC12 alloy.

알루미늄 용탕 운반용 고보온성 Ladle 설계 및 평가 (Design and Evaluation of High Insulation Ladle for Carrying Aluminum Molten Metal)

  • Recently, an advanced raw material supplying system in diecasting industry that molten metal produced by the raw material supplier can be directly delivered to the diecasting shops was proposed. It was known to have advantages of reducing melting process cost and improving working environment. However, for its successful mass production, the development of high insulation ladle is inevitable. In this study, the optimal mixing ratio of $SiO_2-Al_2O_3$ was investigated and the high insulation ladle with computer simulation result was built in a prototype and evaluated. The prototype which has refractory wall of $SiO_233%-Al_2O_3$ 35%-CaO 33% showed high insulation sufficient for carrying the Al molten metal for 138 minutes. Gas quantity result and SEM-EDS analysis on the melt poured in the ladle also showed extremely low level of 0.028 cc / 100 g and no penetration of Al molten metal into the refractory wall, satisfying the requirements for mass production.

마그네슘 다이캐스팅 합금내 불순물의 정량적 평가 (The Quantitative Evaluation for Impurities of Magnesium Diecasting Alloys)

  • Magnesium and its alloys are being applied to various kinds of industrial fields, especially their use on automotive parts and electronic part. These parts are manufactured mainly through diecasting process and magnesium ingots are used as raw materials. In the case that ingot quality is not secured, massive casting defects can occur and some manufactures can be damaged by the defects. This study is to evaluate ingots' cleanliness of magnesium alloys. It includes composition analysis by spectrometer, measurement of inclusion contents by SEM, brightness test on fractured surface and etc. Especially, the brightness test is a very easy and quick evaluation method. The brightness becomes low when the amount of oxides or inclusions on the surface increases. The brightness test data have been compared with those obtained from other methods for measuring the mount of impurities, which showed good relationship between the brightness and the others. Thus, the brightness test could be a promising method to measure the cleanliness of magnesium alloys.

다이케스팅 이형재 분사 로봇시스템의 터빈 모듈 설계에 관한 연구 (Study of Turbine Module Design for Die Casting Mold Release Injection Robot System)

  • Cleaning by injecting dry ice and water is a generally adopted trend these days to clean molds (injection, diecasting foundry, press, rubber mold, etc). This cleaning method is performed manually, or by installing multiple high pressure spray nozzles. We have manufactured a turbine cleaning module device that is able to clean diecasting modules at any position and angle in the space by mounting an articulated robot instead of the existing pipe type injection nozzle, to minimize lead time and enhance working yield of the cleaning process. In this paper, we analyzed process factors that are required to design the turbine module by reviewing number of revolution, and results according to different blade angles and thicknesses of the mold release injection turbine module, using computational fiuid dynamics (CFD).
