Design of High-gain Antenna for Satellite Communication with Miniaturized Feed Structure (소형화된 급전부를 갖는 위성통신용 고이득 안테나 설계)

  • In this paper, a high-gain antenna for satellite communication is proposed. The proposed antenna consists of septum polarizer, circular waveguide, Hat-feed structure that has a high-gain and efficiency. Especially, it is smaller and lighter than the conventional satellite communication antennas by applying a hat-feed structure. The measured results show that received gain of proposed antenna is better than 29.9 dBi and transmitted gain of proposed antenna is better than 30.5 dBi. The co-polarized and cross-polarized radiation patterns comply with ITU-RR Ap.8 and ITU-R S.731-1 that are recommended by International Telecommunication Union. The designed high-gain antenna for satellite communication is expected to be used for OTM and airborne satellite systems.

  • The Spring framework including the MVC design concept is the standard in web development in the JAVA environment. The programming style of the structure must be kept strictly, so every web program is able to employ the same structure. It is convenient to distribute jobs, but there are some side effects, like duplication of code, deterioration of professionalization, and deterioration of program performance. To ameliorate those problems, we propose the horizontality development method(HDM) on Spring MVC. We proved that the HDM can solve the problems through the experiment to keep the MVC structure.

Methanol Steam Reforming Using Multilayer Cup Structure for Catalyst Support (촉매 지지용 다층 컵 구조를 이용한 메탄올 수증기 개질 반응 연구)

  • In methanol steam reforming, commercial catalysts in the form of pellets are mainly used, but there are limitations to directly apply them to underwater weapon systems that require shock resistance and heat transfer characteristics. In this study, to overcome this problem, a multi-layer cup structure (MLCS) was applied to support a pellet type catalyst. The characteristics of pellet catalyst supported by MLCS and the pellet catalyst supported by conventional structure (CS) were compared by the reforming experiment. In the case of MLCS, a high methanol conversion rate was shown in the temperature range 200 to 300℃ relative to the CS manufactured with the same catalyst weight as MLCS. CS shown similar characteristics to MLCS when it manufactured in the same volume as MLCS by adding an additional 67% of the catalyst. In conclusions, MLCS can not only reduce catalyst usage by improving heat transfer characteristics, but also support pellet catalyst in multiple layers, thus improving shock resistance characteristics.

Fluctuations in the Abundance of Common Squid, Todarodes pacificus and Environmental Conditions in the Far East Regions during 52 Years

  • Environmental variables, fishing and biological data of the common squid, Todarodes pacificus were used to describe changes in structure, migration and abundance of the squid population in relation to ocean climate shifts. It was possible to consider the main groups of the squid (autumn and winter-spawned groups) as a single population to aid conservation in the waters around Korea and Japan (TWC and KOC regions). The patterns of yearly fluctuations in abundance of the squid population in the two regions were the same during 52 years of $1952{\sim}2003$. The abundance of the squid began to decrease in both regions in the early 1970s, remained low in the 1980s and the main squid groups synchronously increased in the 1990s coincident with favorable changes of thermal conditions and plankton production in those ecosystems. The mechanisms of changes in the structure, distribution and abundance of common squid population in relation to current-mediated migration circuits are explained on the basis of phenological variables responding to climate shifts.

  • In this paper, a compliant buoy mooring system of a floating cylindrical structure in shallow water depth is studied experimentally. The compliant buoy mooring system consists of four buoys, vertical mooring legs and horizontal mooring lines. A series of model test were carried out at KRISO ocean engineering basin for various mooring parameters; line length, pretension of mooring leg and mooring layouts and environmental conditions; regular and irregular waves combined with current and wind. The mooring line tensions and 6-DOF motions of the floating structure were measured using water-proof load cells and 3 CCD camera system. The results of a series of model tests were discussed on nonlinear motion behaviors of the floating structure and characterisitics of cumulative distributions of mooring line peak tensions.

  • This study is to investigate the development process and the structure of the machine and material industrial clusters in Yeongnam region, Korea. In theoretical analysis, it is proposed that the wide area industrial cluster has three type of development process and a duplicate (or multi-level) spatial structure. We can ascertain from the case study of industrial clusters in Yeongnam region that An wide machine and material industrial cluster has been formed in Yeongnam region and the cluster has the duplicate structure or multi-level structure.

  • The industry is becoming more competitive and it is essential for any organization to continuously improve in order to stay competitive. As an effort to increase their technical and managenial capabilities, many organizations have been trying to adobt 'new knowledge' coming out of research and implementing it to their business processes. It is a common belif that tins theme of 'Knowledge Management' is helpful in keeping organizations healthy and competitive. This study was performed in the context of 'Knowledge Management'. This paper will describe the development process of the CII Knowledge Structure which was developed by CII to help its member organizations become incresingly 'knowlege-oriented'. The CII Knowldege Structure systematically organizes 'knowledge' that has been produced from various CII Research. Structure and contents of the CII Knowledge Structure and the implications of development of the Knowledge Structure will also be discussed in this paper.

Variation of Thermohaline Structure Around Ocean Area of Artificial Upwelling Structure (인공용승구조물 주변해역의 열염구조 변화)

  • To illustrate the variation of oceanic condition around artificial upwelling structure which is located in the South Sea of Korea, cm observations were carried out on December, 2005, April, August and October, 2006. Temperature, salinity and density(sigma-t) was nearly homogeneous through the whole depth by mixing of the seawater in winter. Stratification was not clear in spring, and it was only formed weakly in the surface layer shallower than 10m. Stratification was formed about $10{\sim}20$ m depth in summer and about $30{\sim}40$ m depth in autumn. Vertical gradient of temperature was larger than that in the part of western area along the artificial seamount in summer and autumn. The variation of stratification was also occurred around near the artificial structure area after set up structure.
