  • In this paper, the polymer insulators which had been used for electrical insulation were investigated surface leakage current and deterioration pattern. Because the electrical fault took place at the dust occurrence area due to environmental pollution. In particular, the dust accumulates easily on insulation material which is exposed an external long time. The leakage current brings out electrical fault after all. Also, it is need to variation of material and shape to repress a leakage current on electrical material. In this paper, we measured a leakage current on electrical material of facilities by dust, and in experiments the prevention to electrical fault was studied.

  • In Korea, it is difficult to secure student health and safe educational environment due to the rapid deterioration of many school facilities built in the 70s and 80s in the past. As a result, through the improvement of school facilities, social needs for safe schools from various disasters, accidents, Is increasing. The purpose of this study was to establish a standard for the establishment of the national and school facilities for the mid - to long - term plan for the improvement of the old school facilities, and to propose a framework for mid - to long - term and rational planning that can be used by the national and local government offices. The purpose of this study is to establish a mid - and long - term plan for the improvement of old school facilities. The appropriate repair cycle for the improvement of the school facilities set up in this study can be utilized as a standard for the mid - and long - term planning for improvement of the school facilities in the Ministry of Education and the School of Education. To this end, a standard model, It is possible to roughly estimate the overall improvement in the mid- to long-term facilities at the national and regional levels.

  • The M&R(Maintenance & Repair) budgeting system for domestic military facilities based incremental budgeting model has caused many problems due to the difference between M&R requirement and budget, so military facility become early deterioration. this study proposes the application method of foreign M&R budgeting model for domestic military facility to improve current M&R budgeting system. In order to investigate the current status and problem of M&R budgeting system, this study reviewed various literature related characteristics and types of the foreign M&R budgeting model. The interview was performed for domestic military facility official. The model would greatly improve the current M&R budgeting process for the domestic military facilities.

  • Maintenance of power distribution facilities is a significant subject in the power supplies. Fault caused by deterioration in power distribution facilities may damage the entire power distribution system. However, current methods of diagnosing power distribution facilities have been manually diagnosed by the human inspector, resulting in continuous pole accidents. In order to improve the existing diagnostic methods, a thermal image analysis model is proposed in this work. Using a thermal image technique in diagnosis field is emerging in the various engineering field due to its non-contact, safe, and highly reliable energy detection technology. Deep learning object detection algorithms are trained with thermal images of a power distribution facility in order to automatically analyze its irregular energy status, hereby efficiently preventing fault of the system. The detected object is diagnosed through a thermal intensity area analysis. The proposed model in this work resulted 82% of accuracy of detecting an actual distribution system by analyzing more than 16,000 images of its thermal images.

On the Cooks' Recognition of Culinary Environment of School Feeding in Ul-san (울산광역시 학교급식 조리 환경에 대한 조리사의 인지도 조사)

  • This study is conducted to explore the cooks' recognition of culinary environment of school feeding among the cooks working for elementary schools, middle schools, and high schools in the Ulsan district. A total of 200 samples were distributed and 185 samples were collected; among them, 182 valid samples were selected for research. Answers were processed by SPSS 12.0. after data coding. As for factor analysis of culinary environment, three factors were extracted, which are general environment, human environment, and facilities equipment environment. It was found that general environment included ventilation(31.5%), temperature (29.0%), humidity(22.1%) in the order of importance; human environment covered cooperation among cooks (28.1%), the number of cooks(25.7%), and professionalism of cooks in the order of importance; facility equipment environment contained the design and layout of facilities and equipment(29.3%), various safety facilities, and safety device(23.3%) in the order of importance. However, a measure for improving work environment, number of cooks, deterioration of equipment, etc. should be considered.

  • Military facilities with masonry construction have a great portion in the whole military facilities. But lots of them have been used for more than 20 years, the degree of deterioration of the facilities are very serious. Futhermore, as small budget for the facilities maintenance and poor maintenance, the performance of the aged masonry facilities have continually decreased. We suggest a structural performance assesment criteria for the military facility through literature review, interview with experts and questionnaire. The assesment of structural performance includes the inclining and sinking degree of the facilities, durability of materials and resisting force of the structural members.

Development of System for Enhancing the Quality of Power Generation Facilities Failure History Data Based on Explainable AI (XAI) (XAI 기반 발전설비 고장 기록 데이터 품질 향상 시스템 개발)

  • Purpose: The deterioration in the quality of failure history data due to differences in interpretation of failures among workers at power plants and the lack of consistency in the way failures are recorded negatively impacts the efficient operation of power plants. The purpose of this study is to propose a system that classifies power generation facilities failures consistently based on the failure history text data created by the workers. Methods: This study utilizes data collected from three coal unloaders operated by Korea Midland Power Co., LTD, from 2012 to 2023. It classifies failures based on the results of Soft Voting, which incorporates the prediction probabilities derived from applying the predict_proba technique to four machine learning models: Random Forest, Logistic Regression, XGBoost, and SVM, along with scores obtained by constructing word dictionaries for each type of failure using LIME, one of the XAI (Explainable Artificial Intelligence) methods. Through this, failure classification system is proposed to improve the quality of power generation facilities failure history data. Results: The results of this study are as follows. When the power generation facilities failure classification system was applied to the failure history data of Continuous Ship Unloader, XGBoost showed the best performance with a Macro_F1 Score of 93%. When the system proposed in this study was applied, there was an increase of up to 0.17 in the Macro_F1 Score for Logistic Regression compared to when the model was applied alone. All four models used in this study, when the system was applied, showed equal or higher values in Accuracy and Macro_F1 Score than the single model alone. Conclusion: This study propose a failure classification system for power generation facilities to improve the quality of failure history data. This will contribute to cost reduction and stability of power generation facilities, as well as further improvement of power plant operation efficiency and stability.

Seismic Performance Evaluation of Nonseismic Neighborhood Living Facilities Considering Deterioration (비내진 근린생활시설의 노후도를 고려한 내진성능평가)

  • In this study, seismic performance was evaluated considering the deterioration level for the low-rise and moderate buildings with non-seismic details which are most common in Korea. Evaluation results showed that the deterioration condition is relatively good even after 24 years of construction but the seismic performance did not satisfy the protection index in the first and second evaluation. In case of the third evaluation, the goal performance was satisfied based on the interstory drift ratio but reinforcement is found to be necessary. Seismic performance was evaluated after the target buildings were reinforced in the walls, bracing, and damper. Results showed the interstory drift ratio drastically reduced regardless of reinforcement methods and satisfied the level of immediate occupancy. In case of wall reinforcement, however, base shear increased more than double which requires review on the existing foundation.

  • In this paper, the secular changes of buried grounding electrodes was investigated; the electrodes are such facilities as grounding grid, grounding connector, grounding terminal and grounding rod etc.. The corrosiveness of removed substation grounding electrodes after commercial operation more than 50 years was measured and its conductivity deterioration trend was analyzed. The measuring results using three experimental methods were compared, finally the consideration for safe and economic grounding design were shown. As the result, it shows the maintenance necessity of grounding systems.

Estimating Optimum Investment Cost for Obsolete School Buildings (노후화된 학교건물의 적정시설투자비 산정모델 적용사례)

  • Area Offices of Education in Korea assign and execute government budget based on the evaluation of school buildings' safety rating and degree of their deterioration. However, it is never easy to estimate the most appropriate investment amount for old buildings under consideration of their service lives and residual values together. A model of estimating optimum investment cost for obsolete school building is developed taking its life cycle cost into account. The model is also applied to six old buildings in five different schools and found that some of the facilities hardly needed further investment and were better to be rebuilt. The study results will be a great beneficial for officers to make right decision on maintaining obsolete school buildings and to maximize tax payers' money.
