  • In this paper, we implemented the electornic moving aid system for safe walking of the blind. An obstacle detecting of each sector used ultrasound and a distance measurement used time of flight. The alarm is designed to have a sound and a tactile function that can be selected on an user's convenience. This system can detect and obstacle of upward, forward, downward and optimally warn to the blind with vibration, beep sound by appling warning algorithm on object detection. Experimental testing and performance evaluation have been successfully carried out with a prototype cane, and the experiment shows the capability of the function to detect unknown objects within an assigned distance, under knees, over head height, and crushed puddles.

  • We implementated an ultrasonic wave cane for the blind. The cane detect walking obstacle and provide a walking direction. The cane used time of flight method of ultrasonic-wave for a measurement of obstacle distance and fluxgate geomagnetic sensor for guidance of walking direction. This system can detect an obstacle of upward, forward, downward and that warn to the blind with vibration, pitch sound. And the blind can know walking direction to voice output. As a result, the blind could efficiently avoid a exposed obstacle, obstacles beyond knee, an exposed street obstacle, a branch of tree person's height and it is usable search for surrounding land mark.

  • In this thesis, we propose a algorithm that is able to detect a user's motion. A minute noise of accelerometer arises cumulative error in case of converting velocity and distance, which makes it difficult to detect movement of sensor. We use a lowpass filter, ALS algorithm, and motion detection block to minimize such cumulative error. we experiment using a motion-detective module which is composed of accelerometer, micro-controller, and serial interface. Our scheme is capable of detecting such as up, down, left, right, forward, and backward movement of the module. It is expected that our scheme is applied to a game controller or user interface of a next generation PC.

  • In this paper, we have performed a safety analysis on an automotive evaporator inspection system. We performed the bi-directional analysis on the manufacturing line. Software Fault Tree Analysis (SFTA) as backward analysis and Software Failure Modes, Effects, & Criticality Analysis (SFMECA) as forward analysis are performed alternately to detect potential cause-to-effect relations. The analysis results indicate the possibility of searching and summarizing fault patterns for future reusability.

  • This paper presents a parametric line equation on the log-polar mapped plane to detect the straight lines in an original image. The log-polar edge image used in Hough transform is constructed by combining the edge images of both fovea and periphery. The foveal edge image detected by a Sobel mask on the Cartesian plane is transformed to the log-polar plane by forward mapping but the edge detection of the peripheral region is obtained by directly applying the newly developed mask to the log-polar plane. This paper also proposes a analytic method then determining a border between the fovea and the periphery regions.

  • In this paper, we propose a visual inspection algorithm to detect can print-errors by using multi-camera and image valuing algorithm. The features of the algorithm are to use four cameras that are arranged with 90$^{\circ}$ between each other and to adopt a synthesized image model which represents whole surface of a can. Using the model, detection process is straight forward, namely it is comparing a partial region of the can to a specific region of the model where is previously marked.

  • In this paper, we describes a method of estimating traveling direction of a autonomous vehicle. For the development of autonomous vehicle, it is important to detect road lane and to reckon traveling direction. The object of a propose algorithm is to perform lane detection in real-time for standalone vision system. And we calculate efficent traveling direction to find steering angie for lateral control system. Therefore autonomous vehicle go forward the center of lane by adjusting the current steering angle using traveling direction.

  • In this study, we used the method of guanidin isothiocyanate and boiling with Chelex-100 resin to extract genomic DNA of Ralstonia solanacearum from soil. It is more efficient than general protocols to remove inhibitory compounds in soil and R. solanacearum on. Then, we applied polymerase chain reaction and DNA enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) to identify and detect pathogen. The fliC gene of R. solanacearum was selected for specific detection of pathogen and primer sets were designed. Among the primer sets, two specific and sensitive primer sets, RsolfliC(forward: 5-GAACGCCAACGGTGCGAACT-3 and reverse; 5-GGCGGCCTTCAGGGAGGTC-3, designed by J. $Sch\ddot{o}nfeld$ et al.) and RS_247 (forward: 5-GGCGGTCTGTCGGCRG-3 and reverse; 5-CGGTCGCGTTGGCAAC-3 designed by this study), were designed to perform nested PCR. Nested PCR primer was labeled with biotin for hybridization between nested PCR product and probe to analyze with DNA ELISA.

  • Background: Forward head posture (FHP) is a postural alignment of the cervical vertebrae that leads to increased gravitational load on cervical segmental motions. The overhead arm lift test assesses the ability to actively dissociate and control low cervical flexion and move the shoulders through overhead flexion. Objects: The purpose of this study was to explore muscle activities in the upper trapezius (UT), serratus anterior (SA), sternocleidomastoid (SCM), and lower trapezius (LT) alongside changes in head position during the overhead arm lift test in individuals with FHP. Methods: Fifteen subjects with forward head posture and fifteen subjects with normal subjcects were enrolled in this study. The patients performed the overhead arm lift test, and muscle activities of the UT, SCM, SA, and LT were measured using surface electromyography and by evaluating changes in head position. Independent t-tests were used to detect significant differences between the two groups and Cohen's d was calculated to measure the size of the mean difference between the groups. Results: The FHP group demonstrated significantly increased muscle activity of the UT ($32.46{\pm}7.64$), SCM ($12.79{\pm}4.01$), and LT ($45.65{\pm}10.52$) and significantly decreased activity in the SA ($26.65{\pm}6.15$) than the normal group. The change in head position was significantly higher in the FHP group ($6.66{\pm}2.08$) than the normal group. Effect sizes for all parameters assessed were large between the two groups. Conclusion: The subjects with excessive FHP displayed were unable to fix their heads in position during the overhead arm lift test. The overhead arm lift test can thus be used in clinical settings to confirm control of the neck in these subjects.

  • Recently UHF RFID system has drawn a great deal of attention because of its potential to revolutionize supply chain management. An important characterization of the performance of a RFID system is 'interrogation range', which is defined as the maximum distance between a reader and a tag. Forward-link interrogation range is defined as the maximum distance from which the tag receives just enough power to turn on and back-scatter, and reverse-tink interrogation range is the maximum distance from which the reader can detect this back-scattered signal. A link balance has to be found between the two interrogation ranges. In this paper, the interrogation range equations are formulated in both forward-link and reverse-link and a trade-off between the two values is investigated in order to maximize the interrogation range. As a result, it is observed that the gain of the reader antenna, the isolation of the circulator, and the phase noise of the local oscillator with range correlation effect mainly determine the reverse-link interrogation range.
