  • Forward collision warning systems(FCWS) and lane change assist systems(LCAS) need regions of interest for detecting lanes and objects as road regions. Watershed segmentation is effective algorithm that classify the road. That algorithm is split results appear differently depending on Watershed line with local minimum in the early part of the seed. If not road regions or vehicles combined the road's seed, It segment road with the others. For compensate the that defect, It has to adaptive change by road environment. The method is that image segmentate the several of regions of interest. Then It is set in a straight line that is detected in regions of interest. If It was detected cars on seed, seed is adjusted the location. And If It wasn't include the line, seed is adjusted the length for final decision the seed. We can detect the road region using the final seed that selected according to the road environment.

  • Nowadays, a lot of techniques have been applied for the detection of malicious behavior. However, the current techniques taken into practice are facing with the challenge of much variations of the original malicious behavior, and it is impossible to respond the new forms of behavior appropriately and timely. There are also some limitations can not be solved, such as the error affirmation (positive false) and mistaken obliquity (negative false). With the questions above, we suggest a new method here to improve the current situation. To detect the malicious code, we put forward dealing with the basic source code units through the conceptual graph. Basically, we use conceptual graph to define malicious behavior, and then we are able to compare the similarity relations of the malicious behavior by testing the formalized values which generated by the predefined graphs in the code. In this paper, we show how to make a conceptual graph and propose an efficient method for similarity measure to discern the malicious behavior. As a result of our experiment, we can get more efficient detection rate.

  • The present study may be summarized as follows. By means of a pole-pole electrical survey, major geological features, i.e, fresh rocks, fractured & weak & saturated rocks, fresh water bearing aquifer, were successfully delineated in the surveyed area of a granite region in Korea. The subsequent Schlumberger sounding and drilling confirmed the existence of the acquifer at 60 m depth as expected. But one more minor acquifer which does not show up in the resistivity depth section was met at 100 m depth. A simple forward modelling leads the authors to believe that any other electrode configuration, e.g., Wenner, Schlumberger, dipole-dipole, pole-dipole, would not detect the deeper aquifer. Under these circumstances, further studies remain to be done in connection with the spatial resolution in the vertical direction.

  • We have developed a position-sensitive Parallel Plate Avalanche Counter (PPAC) to detect the fission fragments and reconstruct the fission reaction plane in the experiment of studying nuclear equation of state (nEOS) by means of heavy ion collision (HIC). This experiment put forward high requirements for the performances of PPAC, such as the time resolution, efficiency and position resolution. According to these requirements we designed the PPAC with an active area of 240 mm × 280 mm working at low gas pressure. The results show that time resolution could be less than 300 ps. Position resolution is consistent with the theoretical calculation about 1.35 mm. Detection efficiency could be approaching 100% gradually with the voltage increasing in different gas pressures. The performances of PPAC have also been verified in beam experiment. Each set of anode wires can be accurately separated in the position spectrum. In the beam experiment, we also got the back-to-back correlation of fission fragments which is one of the direct signals characterizing binary decay.

  • For the base station or repeater which is in operation as part of a mobile communication system, any kind of degradation in antenna performance such as lowered gam or increased VSWR which maybe due to aging of antenna, connector corrosion or other environmental factors, is difficult to detect and react to immediately. In this paper, a VSWR measurement device which is capable of detecting the VSWR of a PCS forward path ($1,840\~1,870$MHz) antenna in operation in real time without any interruption in service is developed. Such regular measurement will allow the prediction of any serious failures and insure reliable operation of the antenna. All components of the antenna VSWR measurement device was researched so that the whole system could be produced and shown to be accurate in measuring the YSWR of an actual RF repeater in operation, proving it's effectiveness.

  • To observe and analyze the characteristics of cloud and precipitation properties, the Cloud physics Observation System (CPOS) has been operated from December 2003 at Daegwallyeong ($37.4^{\circ}N$, $128.4^{\circ}E$, 842 m) in the Taebaek Mountains. The major instruments of CPOS are follows: Forward Scattering Spectrometer Probe (FSSP), Optical Particle Counter (OPC), Visibility Sensor (VS), PARSIVEL disdrometer, Microwave Radiometer (MWR), and Micro Rain Radar (MRR). The former four instruments (FSSP, OPC, visibility sensor, and PARSIVEL) are for the observation and analysis of characteristics of the ground cloud (fog) and precipitation, and the others are for the vertical cloud characteristics (http://weamod.metri.re.kr) in real time. For verification of CPOS products, the comparison between the instrumental products has been conducted: the qualitative size distributions of FSSP and OPC during the hygroscopic seeding experiments, the precipitable water vapors of MWR and radiosonde, and the rainfall rates of the PARSIVEL(or MRR) and rain gauge. Most of comparisons show a good agreement with the correlation coefficient more than 0.7. These reliable CPOS products will be useful for the cloud-related studies such as the cloud-aerosol indirect effect or cloud seeding. The visibility value is derived from the droplet size distribution of FSSP. The derived FSSP visibility shows the constant overestimation by 1.7 to 1.9 times compared with the values of two visibility sensors (SVS (Sentry Visibility Sensor) and PWD22 (Present Weather Detect 22)). We believe this bias is come from the limitation of the droplet size range ($2{\sim}47\;{\mu}m$) measured by FSSP. Further studies are needed after introducing new instruments with other ranges.

  • Time domain reflectometry (TDR) is widely used for wire failure detection. It transmits a pulse that is reflected at the boundaries of different characteristic impedances. By analyzing the reflected signal, TDR makes it possible to locate the failure. In this study, TDR was used to detect the water leakage at a pipe joint. A wire attached to the pipe surface was soaked by water when a leak occurred, which affected the characteristic impedance of the wet part, resulting in a change in the reflected signal. To infer the leakage from the TDR signal, we first developed a finite difference time domain-based forward model that provided the output of the TDR signal given the configuration of the transmission line. Then, by solving the inverse problem, the locations of the leaks were found.

  • FMCW(Frequency Modulation Continuous Wave) Radar can detect the distance and the velocity of forward obstacles using linearly modulated FM signal. For better performance, the RF of radar should be operated with wideband frequency linearity on 300 MHz bandwidth at 77 GHz carrier frequency. In this paper, we propose a simple method for improving frequency linearity of FMCW radar implemented with VCO. The proposed method shows that the Voltage-Frequency relation of VCO could be measured by using the modified Tx waveform of FMCW radar. Then the measured nonlinearity could be compensated using LUT(Look-up Table) with easy. It is noted that the proposed can be adopted in existing system without extra circuit.

  • This paper introduces a Petri Net-based multimedia programming method. For this purpose, we are proposing MPN(Multimedia Petri Net) which can be used for representing a multimedia scenario. We are also introducing methods to analyze a MPN with which we can detect some kinds of design faults in the scenario. A multimedia program replays the scenario by interpreting the MPN. A method to implement such a multimedia program is also discussed. Our multimedia program provides the manipulation functions of stop, play, fast forward. rewind, and fast rewind. There are many varieties of Petri Net. Several of them are for modeling multimedia scenarios. They all have been used for synchronization analysis. But none of them were used for replaying multimedia scenario. We have extended these nets to MPN. A MPN model contains not only the flow of a scenario but also all the information associated with the data units. Therefore, our player can play the multimedia scenario by interpreting the MPN.

  • Background: Early identification of pathogens can improve the prognosis of patients with ventilator associated pneumonia (VAP). In the present study, we evaluated the feasibility of performing multiplex PCR for endotracheal aspirates to detect three important pathogens (P. aeruginosa, K. pneumoniae and MRSA) in patients with VAP. Methods: The endotracheal aspirates of 24 patients were collected within 24 hours of the diagnosis of VAP for performing multiplex PCR. Forward and reverse primers were designed to target the specific site of each pathogen (the oprL gene for P. aeruginosa, 16S rRNA for K. pneumoniae and the mec gene for MRSA). We analyzed the clinical data of the VAP patients, including the culture reports for the endotracheal aspirates. Results: Twenty-four patients (M:F=18:6, mean age=$70{\pm}11$) with VAP were enrolled. Pathogens were isolated from 11 patients (P. aeruginosa in 2, K. pneumoniae in 1, MRSA in 2, other enteric Gram negative bacilli in 3, S. pneumoniae in 2 and mixed infection in 1). Multiplex PCR detected three cases of P.aeruginosa (2 cases coincided with the culture reports) and four cases of K. pneumoniae (1 matched with the culture report). PCR detected two MRSA cases, which did not coincide with the culture reports. Conclusion: Multiplex PCR of the endotracheal aspirate showed some ability to detect Gram negative bacilli, although caution is required when interpreting the results.
