Nanostructured materials exhibit attractive mechanical properties that are often superior to the performance of their coarse-grained counterparts. However, one major drawback is their low ductility, which limits their potential applications. In this paper, different strategies to obtain both high strength and enhanced ductility in nanostructured materials are reported for Ti-base and Zr-base alloys. The first approach consists of designing an in-situ composite microstructure containing ductile bcc or hop dendrites that are homogeneously dispersed in a nanostructured matrix. The second approach is related to refining the eutectic structure of a Ti-Fe-Sn alloy. For all these materials, the microstructure, mechanical properties, deformation and fracture mechanisms will be discussed.

The ability of 'creative thinking' is one of the most important fact for designers to complete their design process. It is not only the overall concept of the process but also all details related to each steps of the process such as planning product strategies, research, finding ways to solve problems image development, broadening ideas, etc. It is, however, not easy to creative as designers by natural learning through experiences unless they have geniuses for creative designing. Many experienced designers in the field are even in dilemmas being not be able to differentiate from copying other designs. This study is focused on the researches on the works of famous designers, architects and artists who have shown great creativities throw their works or processes. It is aimed to define their ways of thinking which could be fundamental motives for the creativeness, various behavioral methods to solve problems in creative ways, technical approaches to improve creativities, and overall intuition in the design working processes.

Developing tailor made Multimedia courseware ensuring effective implementation of instruction strategies is a challenge that manifests in myriad problems of software design and coding. In this paper an attempt has been made to analyse and identify coding and implementation problems, in the backdrop of using two different multimedia software development tools i.e. Visual Basic and Toolbook, which underpin the development and effectiveness of use of multimedia courseware. Solutions to such problems have been discussed in context of Tool book. The examples presented in this paper are based on the experience of designing and implementation of two large scale professional quality Multimedia courseware development projects.

Many companies desperately effort to find out more effective management method to survive in keen competition. Jack welch of past GE's CEO had said that an excellent result of today's GE management is thanks to Six sigma work. Many korean companies are introduced Six sigma method in their management since late 1993. Six sigma uses a set of strategies, statistics and methods to improve the processes we use to do everything from designing to manufacturing a product from marketing products and services to providing business information to our internal and external customers. The purpose of this study is to overcome these problems and to help make an important decision in establishing introduction strategy by abstracting the reasons and success factors and result indices which are important sources for introducing Six sigma management.

Web-based learning is currently an active area of research and a considerable number of studies have been conducted on its application in the learning environment. However, in spite of many advances in the research and development of the educational contents, questions about how the environment affects learning remains largely unanswered. In this article, we propose a Web-based learning environment to improve the educational effect. The goal of this article is not to provide a complete system to support Web-based learning but rather to describe some meaningful strategies and fundamental design concepts that utilize information technologies to support teaching and learning.

본 논문에서는 부산 소재 K 대학교 신입생들의 학업성취도에 대해 신입생의 특성변수를 포함한 전형관련 변수들에 대한 영향력 분석을 연구한다. 이를 위해 모수적인 방법인 다중회귀분석과 비모수적인 방법인 의사결정나무 분석을 통하여 학업성취도에 대한 전형관련 변수들에 대한 주효과와 상호 작용효과를 각각 분석하였다.

In this paper, as an ideal test bed for studies on multi-agent system, the multiple micro robot soccer playing system is introduced at first. Local languages based information storage and retrieval system is essential for any online digital repository system. This paper reports the development of an interface in Bengali that allows users not only browsing and searching Indic-script based documents but also allows administrator performing various system level operations. This paper briefly describes the origin and key characteristics of Indic-scripts along with their encoding in Unicode standard with special reference to Bengali language. It also demonstrates the development processes of Bengal-script based information representation and retrieval (IRR) system viz. BURA (Burdwan University Research Archive) using different open standard and open source software (OSS) including different factors essential for building such successful Indic-script based multilingual digital libraries. The suggested strategies may help digital library developers to design an appropriate multi-script based information access services in any other Indic-script based languages.

This paper presents Newtonian formulation of the dynamics of plates treated fully with Active Constrained Layer Damping (ACLD). The developed equations of the plate/ACLD system provide analytical models far predicting the dynamic of laminated plates subjected to passive and active vibration damping controls. Numerical solutions of the analytical models are presented fir simply-supported plates in order to study the performance of the plate/ACLD system for different control strategies. The developed models present invaluable means for designing and predicting the performance of the smart laminated plates that can be used in many critical engineering applications.

Single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) detection has been used extensively for genetic association studies of diseases including cancer. For mass, yet accurate and more economic SNP detection we have optimized tetra primer amplification refractory mutation system polymerase chain reaction (ARMS PCR) to detect three SNPs in the cytochrome P450 2E1 (CYP2E1) gene locus; i.e. rs3813865, rs2070672 and rs3813867. The optimization system strategies used were (1) designing inner and outer primers; (2) determining of their optimum primer concentration ratios; and (3) determining of the optimum PCR annealing temperature. The tetra primer ARMS PCR result could be directly observed using agarose gel electrophoresis. The method succesfully determined three SNPs in CYP2E1 locus, the results being consistent with validation using DNA sequencing and restriction fragment length polymorphisms (RFLP).
